BubblemanWelcome, welcome, welcome. Hash Church episode 22 is in the house. How cool is that? 22 episodes we've been doing this for, guys. Man, well, I just want to say it is a beautiful day up here in Whistler, British Columbia. Unfortunately, we don't have much snow, which makes it easier for me to do these Hash Churches, I have to admit. I am a bit of a fiend for the snow, and I'd probably pretty much be up there on the mountain right now If it was snowing hard, so really, we should all thank the weather patterns for Hash Church right now because, well, it hurts me not to be up on that beautiful mountain out there right now, gliding down on a board.
BubblemanI have sent out the link to the first few people. We've got a nice group in chat talking right now. I want to say hi to everyone. Welcome, welcome, welcome. David Freeman, OG Oneslayer, Casey Owens, The Dab Lab, Brad Richardson, Kurt Stoner, Benjamin Lovell, Micro B, Major Hash, Trent Cummings, Matt Siegel. Welcome all of you guys, and girls for that matter. I know most of the times it's dude, but it's nice to have some girls in the room as well, right?
BubblemanAll right. This is definitely an interesting double. Let's see what we got. Ah, nice early morning here in Whistler. I've been up since 6 in the morning to try and get this all ready. Now let's see if this is going to work.
SpeakerMorning, everybody.
BubblemanMorning, John, with the super loud mic.
SpeakerTurning down the mic.
BubblemanTurning down the mic. It's just the banging. I've got an OCD thing with the banging, this sort of thing. Try to just watch today and not so much like a million other things while we're just hanging in puff and bowls. It'll make it for an easier... Otherwise, of course, I've got to mute the mic. That's where the muting comes from when I... Good morning. Lovely, lovely. Good morning.
BubblemanHere. Good morning.
SpeakerOh, nice. A little bit of, uh... What's your special treat this morning, my friend?
BubblemanWell, I have, um... I have Rene CBD from Matt the Great Gardener. I have some Warlock from Matt the Great Gardener, which smells so fruity it's tripping me out. I got some Barb, which is just the greasiest, unbelievable quality resin. I think we're going to find out in the very near future that, uh, The reason Barb is so just epic is the genetics. The genetics of Barb, Shishka Berry, and that Afghani produce a quality of resin that's both photogenic, you know, six star to the point where it melts away and leaves almost no residual, and really just a pleasure to look at, smell, touch, smoke, everything.
BubblemanI've got to give it up to that guy. He's quite a fucking awesome grower.
SpeakerHe's hooking up the resin.
BubblemanYeah, it's nice to see, you know, when I met Matt, he had great herb, but his hash wasn't what I would call, like, top, top, top, top notch. Not like what it is now. Like, he has really seriously stepped up the game, so shout out to Greg Gardner for that.
SpeakerMy friend, you helped me step up my game to create epic resin, because before I've always had nice, nice herb. But I can say that over the last two years, my hash game has completely changed.
BubblemanWell, and when your hash game changes, your herb game changes. Because if you have shitty hash and you're growing herb for shitty hash, you don't grow it as good as you would grow it for great hash. Because most people are growing for herb. They're trying to get it better, but without really extracting the resin away from the plant, you don't really know the qualities.
BubblemanLong rep for Johnny B. Oh, taking flight. Almost like a 45 micron, hey?
BubblemanNewly terps there. A lighting.
SpeakerBeautiful stuff.
HoratioI was discussing in chat this morning how I have this, when I first started growing, I photocopied an old book.
SpeakerAnd I actually dug it out and this book is like 20 some odd years old. So that was the only way I could get any kind of growing information back in the days was to get a photocopy and yeah. The Indoor Marijuana Holiculture by George Cervantes.
BubblemanJorge. Jorge Cervantes. Yes, I know George. Thank you.
SpeakerI always say things wrong.
BubblemanNo, no, you know what, you can call him George. But in Spain, everyone pronounces his name Jorge. They don't pronounce the J. It's silent.
SpeakerIt was published in Portland, Oregon. Interesting, when it was distributed. Yeah, it was kind of cool. So I told people I would show it this morning, so there you guys go. This is how I first started to learn. The old school.
BubblemanVery good. Well, geez, I think it's time for a dab, John. I've kind of been waiting for everyone else to roll in, but maybe the Hash Church is really just for us. And the 170 people watching.
Speaker170 people want to know more about how they can change their game with Hash, which is awesome.
BubblemanWell, I mean, I think the easiest way, what I tell people, is to go onto my YouTube channel, Bubble Man's World, obviously, the one we're watching right now, And check out the dozens of videos that I've posted in regards to water extraction and dry sift. And I think that is a great way to start kind of raising the bar. There's obviously a lot of information out there that is attainable, but really, Bubble Man's world is going to start you off on the right foot.
SpeakerOh, yes. Someone just mentioned in chat, big, big, big day tomorrow with the MMR Coalition Against Repealed Court Case. We'll be there. The party last night and it's a really good vibe there. John had a really good talk and talked about what we're expecting for the first week of all the plaintiffs being able to put their information forward and when Remo's talking and
BubblemanYeah, and I'll be covering the event on my channel, so I'll be down at the courthouse doing some interviews with people, and I'll make a point on going into the courtroom and giving you guys an update as they take breaks. I'll come out and give a little update, maybe even get an interview with John or Kirk, So that'll be happening. Yes, thanks, Matt V. Rocking my Tricom Heavy Extracts hoodie today.
BubblemanJust sent you the email, Cuban.
SpeakerSomeone sent me a link to pen camera, video cameras with a 64 megabyte little chip cards in them now for like on eBay. Welcome, Cuban grower. Welcome. Brother, I think the, can you guys hear me? No. I can hear you, yeah. Oh, you can? Cool. Yeah. So, yeah, I think the email got sent out late because I just received it. I just sent it out, actually.
BubblemanI went to look at the email, and I was like, oh, shit, I haven't sent this email. I sent the email to you, to Aaron, and to Rob Clark. You guys are my three emailers, so everyone else gets the link via Facebook chat.
SpeakerI was excited. I woke up and it must have been like 8.30. I rolled out of bed, no coffee, no smoke, nothing. I just sprung onto the computer.
BubblemanI was looking forward to it. Well, hopefully we can smoke that headache right out of your head there. I heard you got yourself a little bit of a headache today.
SpeakerYeah. I went to this place called Seven Point Studios yesterday. It's a glass place in Seattle where they make the Quave Kleins and the Bangers and the Swiss Perks and all that stuff. Oh yeah. And I just sat down and smoked a bunch of hash. But the thing is that, you know, sometimes people have their own hash and I think I might have hit something questionable that might have given me migraines since like last night that had me fucked up.
BubblemanYeah, it's funny when you become hypersensitive and hyper-aware to these things and you start taking control of your variables and you slowly remove them from your life. But these tiny little things that could be, they could be finishers, they could be Nasty, chemical, salty foods. They could be sprays, Avid, Defender, all sorts of different poisonous toxins that people spray on their plants that get trapped in the resin.
BubblemanAnd once you remove those things and you start becoming sort of hyper-aware to them when they are present, and that also gives me headaches, makes me feel sick in my stomach, and it's one of the reasons why I really don't smoke everyone's hash.
SpeakerYeah, brother, I think, I mean, I'm getting older. The older I'm getting, like, I can't eat the same fast foods and stuff, and I'm just, I have to take more care of my body. So definitely, if I smoke something questionable, the migraines, if I eat something that's bad, you know what I mean, the stomach pains, I got to really take care of myself and my health, man.
BubblemanTotally, dude. No, I feel that, man. It's an important factor of taking care of ourselves while we get older, you know, so
BubblemanSomething we don't pay much attention to when we're younger, but as we get out of our 20s into our 30s and then definitely into our 40s, that's when you really start hearing it loud and clear.
SpeakerYeah, I'm 40 and I'm loud and clear. Health problems. Smoke hash.
BubblemanThat's my first stab of the day here, actually. The Great Gardener. The Wake and Wake with the Great Gardener. What do you got there? Oh, gee. It's funny that no one else has come in. They were all bugging me so bad for the, like, hey, you got the link? You got the link? And then I send the link out to, like, ten people, and two people show up into Hash Church.
SpeakerThat's okay. We're the ones that have the hash that we want to smoke.
BubblemanYeah, but you know what? It's really... The group of people is important because it creates the dialogue, and I find that the same... You always have like a few different people in the group and it really gives like Hash Church, in my opinion, it takes it to that next level. You know what I mean? Where you get a new fresh person, they're sort of telling their stories, they're telling their experiences and that's, I always want to have one or two new people show up each week and give us a little bit of a share.
BubblemanThis week I've actually invited a guy by the name of Jake Barrow or Barrow and he lives in the U.K., And he uses cannabis to alleviate chronic pain, muscle spasms, to eat, and basically just to be able to move comfortably. And so he's got a whole thing going on in the UK that he's trying to acquire legal cannabis, Sativex, and anything that he can kind of try and acquire.
BubblemanAnd yeah, he sent me his petition that he's got going on, and he's an avid viewer of the channel, and recently Vice Magazine's allowing him to write a piece about what he's going through in regards to trying to acquire his medicine in the UK. I was supposed to invite Jake last week and I spaced it. I've sent him out the link this week. Let's hope that he gets it and comes in and shares his story with us because, well, we always appreciate it.
BubblemanPeople can come in and share their stories with us.
SpeakerHey, last week's Hash Church was epic, bro. You had a lot of people rotating. It was almost like if they were waiting for people to sign off the chat to like join right now. They were.
BubblemanAre you kidding me? They were. In fact, thank you last week, Johnny B, for leaving when the room was full. It's great when the guys who are the regulars, like people that are here all the time, Johnny B, Horatio, D420K, it's huge.
BubblemanWhen the room has people that want to come in for those guys to just sort of be like, okay, you know what, I'll go talk in the chat for a while. Because, I mean, everyone wants to be in Hash Church, but we've got to make, it's bigger than us. It's bigger than us wanting to be in Hash Church. It's about getting everyone in here and, It was like when Tony said it's full, I can't get in.
SpeakerI jumped out right away because Tony, I know.
BubblemanI didn't even notice at first, John. I was like, where did John go? And then Tony was in the room and I was like, alright, high five, John. Like, taking one for the team. I know how bad you want to hang out in the church, but to leave and go hang out in the chat, I'm giving you a fucking serious high five, dude. That's big man stuff.
SpeakerWell, you know what? I love the people in chat and it's about the people and when we have good people who want to educate the rest of the people, I mean... Hey, I'm the guy who wants to learn it too, so I love it when these guys talk because, of course, I got my piece of paper. I always take my notes. I got every hash church written down with time, so there's certain times I want to go back and find out what people are talking about, so it's really important you pay attention.
SpeakerAbsolutely. It's just, it's nothing but great knowledge here and that's one thing we've, like last week I got called out and this week I stepped up my game. Thanks Mark, you know what, like.
BubblemanI know, thank you, thank you.
SpeakerAnd you weren't hard on me, you just like caught it.
BubblemanI got like 10 emails, 10 emails, you've got to be nicer to Johnny B. I'm like listen, being nicer to Johnny B. isn't going to make his hash melt anymore.
SpeakerNow it's meltier than it's water now. It turned into water this week.
BubblemanStep up his game. Horatio's in the house. Welcome, Horatio. Morning, Horatio. Drinking out of my favorite cup right there. That is one of my favorite cups. I bought two of them for camping five years ago. And then my friend that I camp with all the time, he usually finds everything at the end of camping that we leave behind and then keeps it for himself. So for the last four years, I've been trying to steal that cup back from him to get into my gear.
BubblemanI'll go to his house, but he always drinks out of it.
HoratioNice.
BubblemanWelcome, T. What up, what up? I'm T. And welcome, Phil, Mr. True Canada Genetics in the house. I'm in Whistler, and you're not, bro. What the fuck?
PhilI know, dude. I was going to say, you're probably in Whistler, aren't you? If you guys remember Phil, Phil has a company called True Genetics, right?
BubblemanThrough genetics, we're switching the name to Saka Seeds right away. Right. So I had a show with Phil maybe a year ago. I did a little show with him. We filmed it on my phone, and he talked about his migraine headaches that he suffers from, serious fucking migraine headaches. There's a name for it, isn't it, buddy? Cluster migraines. Clusters, right, so real bastards. We talked about it a little bit, and someone saw the show and contacted Phil later, and now Phil is literally partnered up with this new guy, and they're doing great things, and it's just really fucking one of the cool things to see.
BubblemanYou know, Phil was a total head living in Whistler, riding as often as he can, and he's now sacrificed all of that to go and live at this new place and have a new partner, and I just think it's great, dude, that... The Bubble Man's World's opened that door for you and I welcome you back to Hash Church, buddy.
PhilThank you very much, man. And without you, I wouldn't be sitting where I am right now because I'm sitting in my partner's house. And we just talked about how we met because of your video. It's all because of you, man.
BubblemanYeah, well, you know what? I think of myself as a facilitator. I don't really deserve much credit. I'm just kind of facilitating and I feel lucky enough to have a platform where all of, like, put it this way. If you guys weren't here, this would be nothing. This would be me yammering on by myself and the fact that Tony and John and Horatio and Cuban and yourself and Dr. David Allen and Brad Higgins.
BubblemanAnd the many, many other people that come and share this information, that's what makes Hash Church. And I think Horatio even mentioned it last week when we were talking that it's grown out of any of us. It could now survive without any of us. It's a real living entity. So happy to have you here.
SpeakerGood to see you, Phil. I was seeing you as we got together and talked about your migraines and stuff. It's good to see you, man. You're looking really good.
PhilYeah, buddy. You too, man. Thank you. It's good to see you. It's been quite a minute.
SpeakerYeah, you can totally see it in your face and stuff like that. I can see that you're not as much anguished. I saw that, and yeah, you know what? I can really see it in your face.
PhilIt takes one to recognize one. Thank you, Johnny.
SpeakerOh, yeah. Totally see it in your face.
BubblemanWe've been live for 15 minutes, and we have 300 people watching in 15 minutes, so that's pretty good. We're building our audience, and Of course, we know 10,000 people are going to watch this eventually, and 20,000 to 30,000 to 40,000 people are going to hear about it. But I really want to thank the 282 viewers who are currently watching. You guys are also a really big part of this.
BubblemanWithout you guys watching and liking it and enjoying it and sharing the information, well, once again, it wouldn't have moved much past the first day. So give thanks for everyone.
BubblemanWhat do we got? Dean never got the quote. I don't think everyone gets the thing. I sent out a thing today and I sent it to Barry, Horatio, David Allen, Tony, Mark Scaldone, Todd McCormick, Brad Higgins, Remote. I sent it to everyone and then it doesn't seem like everyone gets it. So I think I have to send out some independents as well because I'd like to have Mark back if he wants to come and talk.
BubblemanThat was obviously very interesting stuff, Tony, in regards to the proton NMR, which is what we're calling it now, not the HNMR. Is that correct? I heard Mark correct someone last week. It's all new to me. You're on mute, Tony.
BubblemanNo, you're still on mute. Here, let me unmute you.
SpeakerSorry, I was posting the link for Hash Church on my Facebook. Okay, just the YouTube one, obviously? It's a Proton NMR.
BubblemanA Proton NMR.
BubblemanVery cool, very cool. Well, it was interesting to hear Mark talk about that machine.
SpeakerI'm going to repost the Hash Church on my IG too. That sounds like a great idea.
BubblemanYeah, just post the YouTube Hash Church, not the Google Hangout Hash Church.
SpeakerOh, yeah, for sure. Hey, by the way, I think we have to give thanks to you for starting Hash Church, man. I know everybody comes and hangs out, but you're the one that built the roof for us to chill on a Sunday. Yeah, dude.
BubblemanWell, happy to build the steeple to come get reaped.
SpeakerYeah.
SpeakerI think this concept started just as we would only have certain opportunities where we would come together like Amsterdam or different events and we'd all get together and smoke and talk about resin. And then sometimes we were talking about resin on a panel and then it was like, I remember one day it was like, you were like, yeah, it'd be nice just to smoke with you, sort some things out, and then it was like, Sunday Ritual.
BubblemanFrom Turkey to come into our scene on Commercial Drive and he saw the melting point and he thought, that's where I want to have a restaurant across from that place. So he opened up this restaurant called Rime, which was actually his name spelled backwards, R-I-M-E. And It became this place that we met him pretty soon after and he was a really cool guy and was into puffing and obviously loved the plant.
BubblemanI call everyone that loves the plant the way we do, a cannabis warrior. Someone that's literally willing to go to jail, willing to take a hit, willing to take a real front line warrior. And so he was obviously one of those and yeah, it's just awesome. Cannabis warriors, props.
SpeakerThat's the true definition of a cannabis warrior. When you said that you do it for love even if you get locked up, it kind of sucks that we have to do it with our risk, man. I can't wait for the days to change because I've Personally experienced a lot of people, good people that are not violent or anything, spend time locked up over cultivating and it's insane.
BubblemanYes. Well, you know what? My mentor, Ron Hickey, who taught me how to grow back in the day and could potentially be, you know, between him and my father, those influences really sort of shaped me to be the guy that I am today. And Ron spent 11 years in a federal prison for cannabis growing and cannabis selling. And so he spent time in prison with Murderers and rapists and child killers.
BubblemanAnd instead of complaining and being all down and a sour sap, what he did was he used the power of cannabis in prison to help people in their everyday life. And so he became almost the principal or the referee. And it was actually an actual position that he held in the prison. I can't remember the name of it. If he was here, he would be able to tell the story better than I.
BubblemanBut he started becoming an arbitrator for different people who were like, you know, they were like, oh, I'm going to shank that guy or whatever. And then instead of just doing it, they'd be like, well, you better go talk to Ron first. And so then they'd end up talking to Ron, and he'd smoke a joint with them, and be like, dude, why do you really want to shank that guy?
BubblemanLike, is that something you want to add, like, six more years to your term? Like, you really want to, like, kill a guy? And so then the guy would become, like, more emotional as he started smoking herb, and then finally he could invite the other guy in, smoke him up, and then with both of them all high and feeling like, really, do you want to kill each other right now?
BubblemanHe eliminated a lot of crime... violence in prison while he was there and in fact when he left the second time because he served a five year and a six year sentence on his second sentence that he served when he left the guards were afraid that he was leaving because the prison had the violence had never been so low even during hard times like during Christmas when the guards all get time off and everyone gets locked down like three quarters of the day For 18 hours plus or whatever, you're in lockdown during the Christmas time.
BubblemanPretty incredible man to just see the positivity and be like, okay, sure. Obviously, being in Tony's position, having Blue River and UCAN and being able to help the amount of people, that's like rock star helping people. But Ron's position, with no glory, was just as rock star. He was helping people on a daily basis. You know, potentially stay alive. So, props to Ron Hickey. Let's all hit a bowl for Ron right now.
SpeakerYeah, and I think a lot of people do not realize how much these individuals actually get from people like myself. You know, like, you've got to remember, it was 96 when I started That first row, nobody went on the internet, no one talked to each other, and you just hear stories about different people that sacrificed different things in their lives. And it's kind of inspiring, you know, when you're trying to come out of the shadows, if you will, in an industry that was still in the dark about six years ago.
BubblemanTrue. Hey, welcome, D420K. Did you not get the original... I want to ask all of you guys this. I send out a Facebook link to many of you. I tried to send it to like 10 people at a time. Is that the link you got, Darren?
SpeakerI don't know if I'm going to get that link, but you know what? There's probably a group conversation that I'm going to do.
BubblemanYeah, but I wrote your name in it, and I just kind of want to make sure, because even last week, too, when I sent out the group one... People came in later, and Tony in particular didn't get it, and a few other people. So it makes it so much easier if I can send out a group one, but I think I've got to start sending them out individually, unfortunately.
SpeakerI'm just working on mine, and I don't have any other group conversations with anybody on it. Well, that's weird. I just pass it to Jim and say, hey, morning. Oh, there's Samantha. I haven't seen you all week either, D. I'm just seeing what happened to you.
SpeakerOh, you got him with his mouth full. He's got a bong load. He's got a bong load and I was going to put my breakfast in my mouth. Good to see you. You busy or what? What have you been doing? Ah, you know, dealing with the doctors and stuff like that. But yeah, no, I was, you know, out late and up early and out of the house and being, you know, I'm being stuck in the garage cleaning resin actually and video editing.
SpeakerOh, that's terrible.
BubblemanNo, it's not. Whoa, you see that?
BubblemanI would like to take this moment one more time to shout out Matt's hash, this barb. I can't believe it. Everyone should grow it. It's unbelievable. It is completely insane, and I think that it will be on a short list in the next five years. When we really discover that there are certain strains that hold almost magical properties when it comes to resin production, in regards to the yield and the amount of profile and the unique profile, everything just is, from right down to how photogenic it is, just melted into a grease, and it's as hard as a rock, and if you break a piece off, it just flies across the room.
BubblemanIt's like a clear amber shatter. That, like, if you put it in the sun, it would be one of those pictures that just made you want to, like, explode. Just saying. Thank you, Matt. And thank you, Breeders Steve. Whatever you did, wherever that shish keberry came from, wow. And thank you, Pete, out east, who probably held onto it the longest. Wow, that's a shish keberry special. That Nicole, in fact.
BubblemanIf only Barry and, if only True and Ramon were in the room right now, because the Nicole, which El Gato, I think he won some contests last year, maybe Dabba Doo or something with it. That was an incredible, beautiful resin that I could also taste the Shishka Berry.
BubblemanThank you, Horatio, and welcome.
BubblemanSo...
SpeakerI made about 28 kilos of coconut butter. Yeah, I saw your piece, dude. That was insane. It's fucking strong, man. I literally went to the gold medal women's hockey game the other night in Prince George Olympics here, the Winter Olympics. And on the way down to the multiplex to watch the game, I literally went in and out of a dream world. Four or five times in my wife's Jeep on the way down, they're like, I'd wake up and go, holy shit, what the fuck?
SpeakerI know, you gave me some. It is strong. Yes, instantly fucking, like, it's awesome, man.
BubblemanI have to admit, I eat a couple of spoonfuls every day and the odd time, it's weird because I've got it down to the point where I know how much I can eat. It's close to a spoonful without getting really rocked. But then if I eat the tiniest little bit more than that, like just a little bit more than a spoonful, it's strong, dude.
SpeakerLike this kind of strong. Yeah, like what the fuck am I doing? I can't even touch my remote control to change the channel.
BubblemanYeah, good old phytocannabinoids. It truly is the healing of the nation.
SpeakerYeah. So, if you guys want to come to Prince George and grab a jar, you're more than welcome to. I'll give it to you for free, of course, because I like to share it. And message me. You're in, PG? I got your old method. You got the new method going now? Yes. Bring it up at higher temperature for a little longer. There you go. We need a whole different level, isn't it?
SpeakerIt works. It works better. Excellent. If it's a low temperature, it takes... I still get a buzz off it, but not like I do after I take it up to the 300 and leave it there for a bit. I told you. That's where you get that punch.
BubblemanYeah. What were you saying, Tony?
SpeakerOh, I was just talking about when you were talking about resin, you get a unique plant every once in a while, and this Gorilla Glue, I didn't necessarily, I wasn't really sold on it the way, I mean it's super frosting, but I wasn't sold on it when it was on the flower itself, but this is the 120 of it. I don't know if you can see how fucking clear that is.
SpeakerReally, really like. Looks good. Really unique, unique resin, if you will. That's the picture I posted for you on Hash Church.
BubblemanYeah, it looks beautiful. I would love to get my lens in there. One of these times I'll have to bring my macro lens when we bump into each other. Amsterdam or something.
SpeakerHey, Tony, did you give out a good 160, that wash? This is a 120. Yeah, I don't know what the 160 looks like. But the Gorilla Glue Flower tested 30%. Yeah. Strains like that with the big heads, man, I just love the way they give the most of the yield on the 90 all the way to the 160. Yeah. That's my favorite type of strain. I've never ran a GG4, but man, the hash is always exceptional every time I see it.
SpeakerIt makes me want to have it in the garden. It's just like, it's strange. You know what it is? It's like the heads are so big, when you actually squeeze them. Yeah, it gives it texture. Yeah, you can actually see it. So you can not only see my fingerprint, but you can actually see the, you can see it. I've got a question for you, Tony. Yeah. When you, I see how you do your, your turf, your hits there.
SpeakerYou squish them out, you make them nice and thin, and you hover it above your bowl and you let it, let it melt before you put it in and everything. What's, what's your method behind that and, and why? Okay, so everything's about surface area. And so what I like to do is I would try to press this out So the first thing I would do is press it out.
SpeakerThis Gorilla Glue is crazy, though. It's like the right amount of stickiness.
BubblemanWe were doing this in Jamaica, Tony. Remember the discovery of actually letting it boil before you drop it onto the nail?
SpeakerYeah.
BubblemanAnd how much tastier it was?
SpeakerSo just by pressing it out, so the heads and the glandular heads, they possess a lot of terpenes, and those terpenes have been squeezed out kind of like a jelly donut. And so... There's low temperatures in which you'll get different flavors. Flavor noids will react differently to those temperatures that react, obviously, with the terpenoids and the terpenes. Those are like your oil. That's like the oil inside the head that will possess the flavor noid.
SpeakerThe flavor noid will give you the aroma and the taste. And so even as low as 97 degrees, you start to lose those. Maybe even 92. But... And there's some other ones that are really cold. But once you squeeze those heads, now you've exposed it. So oxygen and also water in the air will start to break it down. And so you don't really want to do that until the end.
SpeakerSo that's why you'll always see like the melt stills, they try to serve a very, very, very dry kind of powder consistency. So that way you can kind of press it out and almost like you're activating yourself. And so Technique with the, whether it's on a nail or a quartz, and the reason why you let it go slow is really because you're trying to get the, those first initial oils and flavor noids and things to actually just, just melt gently and then slowly vaporize.
SpeakerI would say the perfect hit when you're trying to do this, if you touch the wall of your nail, of your quartz, and you see any brown, any brown whatsoever, like it just kind of browns off, Then you know it's too hot. And so the reason why I like doing quarts is because you can clean it and you can get it really, really hot. You should be able to almost touch the quarts before you actually hit it.
SpeakerThen you'll know it's kind of the right temperature. But if you go in gently and you let it drip into it, I'll show you if it's too hot what it'll look like.
SpeakerSee that little brown on it? It's too hot. Too hot. But I can tell you it's about ready.
BubblemanAh, the hash church. Nice.
SpeakerThere's nothing left. It's just oil on the quartz.
BubblemanDid you guys see the hash church? That's our hash church.
SpeakerThat would be the perfect hit.
BubblemanNice.
SpeakerThat's why I do it.
BubblemanIf you look up close in that photo on Facebook or Instagram, it's the hash church photo. You can actually see what Tony was talking about, like milked heads inside the goo that I'm stretching. If you look up close in that photo, you can see wax membranes all still in the shape of heads. But pretty much milked and floating in their own liquid. And welcome, Mark.
SpeakerHey, his hash makes me want to buy his seeds. Because it seems like his genetics are on point when it comes to the milk.
BubblemanDude, listen, I was joking with him the other day. I was like, man, I bet you I've helped with my photography and with the bubble man's world move a few barbed seeds.
SpeakerThat's awesome. We all sat down around YouTube, right? And in November when you posted the dry sift you made for the great gardener that you were doing the melt shot, I was like, guys, look at the color of this resin. You have to see the way it changes. See how yellow it is? I mean, man, we need some barb in our lives. That shit's serious.
BubblemanEveryone needs some barb in their life. I think it's a good thing to have in the quiver. And it's really, it's like, it's the closest I've seen to that pure yellow line shish keberry. Which is just, I don't know, man. Keep in mind, the shish keberry was the first herb trim, actually, that I'd ever run and gotten full melt from. Because back in 1998, there was only a two-bag system.
BubblemanAnd so I was kind of like really not sold on this bag thing. I tried it. I was like, I don't know. It just makes this weird wet hash. We didn't know how to dry hash either. But when I did it with the shish keberry that Breeders Steve gave me, he was like, oh, here, try some of this stuff. It's really nice. And I ran it, and it was just like full melt.
BubblemanIt was like a five star out of a two-bag kit, bro. And it was the first time we had really ever kind of produced that. I had seen it three years earlier with Rob Clark when he smoked a bowl of Skunk Man Sam's resin with me and said, if it don't bubble, it ain't worth the trouble. And I watched the resin leak down the stem of the ruler and I was like, what?
BubblemanAnd then it was knocking everyone out too. Like the few people that were lucky enough to hit it, they were all getting knocked out. I was one of the few people who didn't get knocked out by this stuff. And I'll tell you, it was a weird time when kind of before it existed, it was such a shock to go from, you know, thinking that you knew what strong resin was and being a, Just being absolutely schooled by the fucking elders.
SpeakerHell yeah. Yesterday I was sitting down like, man, I wonder how Spunkman Sam, like what his strain that he's been dry sifting the longest is. And I can only imagine how fire that dry sift is because of how much he knows the resin.
BubblemanYou know, I think. You know, dude. You know exactly. I'm telling you. You cannot imagine that.
SpeakerI can't. I can't imagine. Look, I've been making dry sift for a year, right? The strain that I've sifted the most is my haze. So I know how to prepare the haze. I know what LPI the heads, you know, below that don't melt as good, and I know how to prepare a proper full melt. Definitely in the 73 bag, if I was going to do water hash, the 73 doesn't melt because I wish I had an 80 bag.
SpeakerYou know what I mean? Yeah. With experience messing with your genetics and stuff, you know, your hash gets better. Now, Skunk Man's been doing this for 40 years, man. Wow. You know what? That's crazy. It's so cool. I got something to say. Hell yeah, you do. One of my... Metallica song? What's that? I got something to say. I like that song, too. But no, I don't have that to say.
SpeakerIt's good to smell weird, too. Things, my favorite things in the world to do besides hanging with my grandkids and all that kind of stuff, blow jobs and say, you know, okay, but one of my favorites is smoking this stuff with somebody who's never tasted it in this manner, who's never had full melt dry sift or bubble hash or anything and you pop their cherry, literally. And the Cherry Blossom people that I pop are literally fucking dudes that are 10, 15, 20 years older than me that have showed me the fucking ways of stuff when I was growing up.
SpeakerAnd then all of a sudden, I smoke this with them and they're fucking looking at me like I just fucking flipped heroin in their bong or something. They're like, what the fuck was that? And then they're mellow and they love it. It's just, it's awesome, man. I love doing that. That's all.
BubblemanOh, Nicky T wanted to come in today. I better send him the link. He said he was going to try and come in a little bit later on.
SpeakerI like Nicky T. He's a very nice guy. When I met him, he was very kind to me. Hey, so I'm going to ask you guys to see what you guys think. What do you think has more potency or hits you harder? If you had like the same strain, a dry sift or a water hash? Because in my experience, my crew always thinks that the dry sift is like brain rattling.
SpeakerWhen they take a fat dab, they have to sit down and kind of like compose themselves.
BubblemanWell, it's definitely the cooler profile, right? You're not losing anything in that resin when you mechanically separate it as opposed to using water, which, yes, it's not acting as a solvent, but it still is actually being a solvent. Not towards glandular heads, THC, or cannabinoids. But certain water-soluble terpenes are obviously in the water. Why would it be a different color and why would it smell so strong?
BubblemanCorrect, Mark? Back me up here. Come on. Mark looks like he's on a plane or something. Is that correct?
SpeakerYeah, you're correct. You have terpenes that will attract water or push water and they'll pull it right through those glandular heads. Right. I'm on a train. You're on a train. Yeah. I love that Mark's on a train. Mark's on a train. That's awesome. So my theory behind it was that when I'm using screens, I'm doing a wide range between a micron conversion, right, would be like a 160 down to like a 78 or whatever.
SpeakerBut with water hash, I noticed that when I was making water hash, I was separating my resin with bags. So I started doing kind of like what I would do with water hash. Run a 160 either down to a 90 or a 160 down to a 73 with no bags in between to try to get that potency. But it's still, it would have a fuller terpene profile for sure because you're having mature and smaller sized heads all in the combination.
SpeakerBut it's almost like if it's not the same potency. Regardless, I think it's almost like the water does rob it of something.
BubblemanI'll say one thing about that and I'll say that the nicest water hash is pretty damn on point with the nicest sift. I'm talking like the tens, you know, both tens, like the nicest water hash, just grown to perfection, made perfectly, real quick, cold, dried perfectly, everything's just perfect. And then you take the same thing and turn it into a dry sift, man, I'll tell you, I bet you both those, and here's the really the only way to tell, Cuban, the only way to tell is not to have cannabis cups.
BubblemanThe way they do it at Shivaratri in Nepal in India during Shiva's birthday is Is that they will put the Charis out on plates, on a table. And I did this at the original first three Legends of Hash in Vancouver. While we were throwing Legends of Hash in Amsterdam, I simultaneously threw them in Vancouver three years in a row at my gallery, The Melting Point. And what I did differently was it wasn't a competition.
BubblemanWhat I would do is I'd collect all the melts over the course of a year. I get about 60 to 70 grams and I had 12 varieties and I put them all in bowls and I had the picture of Shiva and it was a real nice altar. You know, respect. My gallery was beautiful and had bongs on every table with mountains of screens and we ordered all sorts of food and it was basically like your ticket got you to the hash buffet.
BubblemanThere was a food buffet and a drink buffet and a hash buffet and you just take your plate and You can write a little circle on your paper plate with the marker and write the name of the hash 12 different times and then go up and take a couple scoops of each one and just go back to your table and try to finish that. And generally, it wasn't a competition, but we knew that the bowl that was empty first was the best.
BubblemanWelcome, Aaron. What's up?
AaronGood morning, everyone. How are you guys? Very good, brother. Very good.
SpeakerBon rep. Good morning. Good morning. Hey, so I just wanted to give a quick shout out to my lady because she whipped up some incredible dry sift. Yesterday I went out on a drive and I was kind of in a bind for time, right? I was gone for like four hours. So I let the screens out. I told my lady, like, look, you know, just give this resin a couple passes and refine it for me, you know, so when we go out later tonight we can have some dry sift because I was smoking 45.
SpeakerI was out. So, man, she whipped up some.
BubblemanThat's a teacher, bro.
SpeakerYeah, so she made some very… She whipped up 20 grams of my haze. Come on, Miami haze? Oh yeah, it's an old East Coast haze from where I'm from. But brother, she did a great job, man. We're about to press. Hey, and I also got these things. These are from MNP. I saw him at the glass. He had nothing but nice things to say about you, brother.
SpeakerHe's like, man, Bubble Man's my friend. I'm like, Bubble Man's my friend too, brother. I like that guy.
BubblemanI'm real good friends with Max. He's a great dude. I haven't seen him in years, but I miss him. Hey, check this out.
SpeakerThis is a hash press that he made. Our SIFT stamp is what he called them. This is the Cuban style one because I like to press, you know, over a grandma hash at a time and he had this little one that I couldn't get the patty all pressed. And then this is the one that, this is my wife's, right? So you heat it on the bottom and then you can press the hash but the cool thing about this is that it has like a sight glass.
SpeakerSo you can see the hash as like you're pressing it. Dude, that's killer. That I didn't know. And check this out. I'm going to show you something else that's cool. They made me dabbers that look like trichomes. Super cool, dude. Check this one out. This one's going to get you. This one is like a macro shot of some dry sift. Nice. Yeah. That's fucking tight. Does he have a website or a store?
SpeakerWhere is he at? How do we get this stuff? Well, on his Instagram, I think it's MNP Glass Cold. Let me check it. Yeah, it's MNP Glass Cold. Triple checking. MNP Glass Cold. Glass Comb? Yeah, this is it right here.
BubblemanYou can punch it into the chat.
SpeakerThere's a chat. MMP Glass Comb. Here, I'll punch it. So, the studio's called Seven Point Studios. The trichome heads were made by a local glass blower called Storm and Norman, and they work together with Dave. So they made me these for some dry sift. So I traded some resin for... Some glass resin. Isn't that cool? Yeah, dude. Very cool. That is so cool. That is first fucking class, man.
SpeakerWow. Awesome. Awesome. This is the kicker. This guy, he's like, man, I made a bunch of these things. He showed me this suitcase. He must have had like 15. He's like, man, I made them thinking that there was going to be like a high demand. Because I've never seen like a proper press, but nobody wants to pick them up. I was like, what? I picked two up right away because I'm using butter knives and shit to press up my hash.
BubblemanYou know what, Cuban? You just got the wrong space because you can guarantee if I posted a picture of that on my Instagram, they would all be sold.
SpeakerOh, yeah. Brother, any real hash maker that's on a mission pressing patties with knives and weird objects around their house is really going to appreciate hash press. Oh, man, that is awesome.
BubblemanWhen I saw Max post that the first time, I think it was Max that posted it, and then I think I saw your girl post it afterwards. I was like, yeah, that's a fucking sweet idea, but I didn't realize it had the viewfinder is tit. What's the link again? What's the Instagram? I put it up on, oh, no, I didn't. What is it? MNP Glass?
SpeakerMNP Glass Co, C-O.
BubblemanThat's it. MMP Glass Co. Yeah. That's his Instagram there. You've never met Max before, Aaron?
AaronI've met a lot of people, bro. My brain's trampled sometimes.
BubblemanMax was in the Degenerate Art show that we threw at the Melting Point, myself and Marbleslinger, back in, oh, jeez, I want to say 2004. I think Degenerate Glass was in 2004. We did another one the next year called Regenerate Art. So it was, both shows were a pretty good success for how early it was in the time of heady glass. I mean, nowadays people are paying, you know, more for a clear mothership than they were for some of these heady pieces that they were still having a hard time purchasing.
BubblemanBut I'm going to post pictures of the Degenerate Art Show here soon in the near future and definitely be sure to check them out, you guys, because there's some unbelievable glass. You got going on your microscope? Yeah, dude. Nice. I love it, dude. I love how hard you're geeking out on this stuff. It's really great to see. Another great thing about Hash Church, bringing people together who seriously geek out on this stuff.
BubblemanWhat's new over at True?
PhilLots, man. Lots. Absolutely lots.
BubblemanSomeone asked about CBD strains and brain trauma.
PhilYeah. Was that Flav or Strathis?
BubblemanNo, I couldn't see who it was. It was just in the YouTube link. Someone asked about it. They were asking, hey, can you guys talk about CBD and brain trauma?
PhilOkay. Anti-inflammatory. Yeah, of course. I would say CBD for anti-inflammatory properties is huge, but for anything brain-related... I mean, for headaches, it's the main thing you should be taking for headaches. It works for any kind of stress or nausea, anything that's associated with the headaches or the brain trauma. The CBD is going to kick everybody in the ass. So CBD for brain trauma would be extremely good.
PhilIt would be something to look into and research. Welcome, Jen.
BubblemanOh shit, we filled up the room, everybody. 436 viewers, and I'm going to start getting all sorts of texts. Hey, the room's full. I can't get in. What the hell, man?
SpeakerYou're going to have to wait your turn.
BubblemanIt's Hash Church, and we're puffing bowls. Potentially gearing up for an epic conversation. You never know when it's going to erupt here at Hash Church and when people are going to start dropping the nollie. But I'll smoke hash until that happens, I'll tell you. Really looking forward to it. Upcoming trip. Bond rep.
SpeakerBond rep. Full force bond rep, everybody.
AaronGood morning, Tony. Good morning. How are you doing today, buddy?
SpeakerI'm ready. Good. I found a group on Facebook, Mothership Art for Sale.
AaronI thought you were going to say something about a plane ticket right there. I found a group. No.
BubblemanNo.
BubblemanWell, I got my ticket booked to Madrid.
AaronWhat's in Madrid? I'll see you at the Spanish show there, Mark.
BubblemanDude, we should all fucking share a cab.
AaronOh, dude. Could you imagine if you didn't realize... That you were in, like you were flying into the right spot, and then you're like, here's the address, and you give the cab driver an address, and you're in the car for seven hours.
BubblemanWhat would it be, like thousands of euros? Dude.
SpeakerSo check it out. So check it out, all right? Kill it. This is the truth. This is what happened. So we researched this. So my girl researched this too, so, and she's good at this kind of shit. So I went on cheapair.com to try to buy this ticket.
AaronFirst problem.
SpeakerYep. That's the first problem. Second problem was I did hit Barcelona and it switched to Madrid. And I can prove it because when you go on their website, they have reviews. They have 772 complaints about changing your destination or changing something in the ticket or your name. One little glitch in the system that then you have to call and you have to cancel. So then they keep your money for 14 days or you have to pay A fee to change your ticket.
SpeakerNow what they do is they say, oh yeah, that ticket doesn't exist. And then you say, well, I want a new ticket because I need to go to Barcelona. I don't need to go to Madrid. I don't know how that happened, what the fuck happened. And in their defense, I probably smoked too much Gorilla Glue. So I was caught because I was like, uh, I don't know.
SpeakerMaybe I did put Madrid. So then I started thinking like they wanted me to think about Madrid. All this came down to was them, they basically even on these like 700 reviews on their website, they basically go online and you're like, oh, I found another ticket for like 1,400. It's only 200 more. And then they go, oh, yeah, that's it. There's no more left. Because what they do is they buy that ticket.
SpeakerThey change the website. And then they jack up the prices again. So all of a sudden you're in like a hustle. And three agents from this place is calling you. New York, Tokyo, all these different places. They're all Indian. They all answer, hello, how can I help you, blah, blah. I want to make sure you have this ticket. And like all of a sudden you're talking to three agents about this ticket, how it went from $1,100 to $1,700.
SpeakerAnd by the way, they're keeping your $1,100 for 14 days.
SpeakerDouchebaggery. So I guess you're not going to Barcelona. I'm going to try another route because I tried to go through Miami because I didn't feel like going through London and then to Barcelona.
BubblemanWhich way did you go through? What was your flight? Direct?
SpeakerNo, I wanted to go through Miami.
BubblemanOh, okay. I think I go through Amsterdam.
AaronTony's trying to get some of that Miami haze dry soup.
BubblemanIf I spend a day in Amsterdam, I'll go see Sam.
AaronYeah, that's what I'm, I'm flying into Amsterdam. Yeah. And then, yeah, maybe I'll go see Sam, but realiztically, I'll be not going to have time.
SpeakerHow old are you, Cuban grower?
SpeakerHow old is the Cuban grower? I think I'm 26 or 27. I'm going to be 28 next month. March 4th is my birthday, guys.
BubblemanNice, dude.
SpeakerSo, yes. I'm going to be 28.
BubblemanThat's tight. I think I'll be in Jamaica on your birthday.
SpeakerWord. I wish I was in Jamaica on my birthday. That would be nice, man.
BubblemanDude, what the heck, man?
SpeakerThank you for watching.
SpeakerYeah, I can only imagine, brother. I was sitting down talking to these guys. I'm like, man, high times took a toll on me. It's like two weeks prior to high times. I have to make sure the garden's running, transplanted, everything's on point, not cutting any corners. Then you take four days off, you come back home, and it's like you've got to catch up quick. It's hard, man.
AaronIt's even worse when you let like, you're like, okay. You finally relinquish control and you say, okay, you take care of this. And then you come back and you're like, how the fuck did you kill something in two days? You know, you mean water, you know? Or they just don't water, you know, or something. There's always something. It's like the worst feeling and I still can't get away from it to today.
AaronYou know what I'm saying? Like, Dude, you know why, Aaron? Everyone's way, you're doing like a 400 seed selection and somebody gets eager beaver and decides, oh, well, I guess it's time to defan the plants and get them ready to cut down. We're going to just, I'm just going to, since I'm done with that, I'm just going to cut down the plants and not, and just start hanging plants thinking they're all the same and then you're stuck with like, All of the same thing, but different phenotypes, and you're like, how the hell am I supposed to select one now when they're all mixed up?
SpeakerJesus. You know what I think? I think there's a good idea that we should have in Hash Church is confession session, where we all confess our most fucked up co-grower experience where something's been fucked up. Hey, how many of you here has overfilled the reservoir and flooded the garden? Cause man, that's my biggest fuck up. So flooding the garden. Has your place ever been busted like that though?
SpeakerWhat do you mean? You had the heat bust into your shit while your reservoir was overflowing? That's horrible.
AaronListen, in Amsterdam, buildings are, your places are on top of each other, bro. So just imagine when you forget to shut off the water on the third floor. Yep. They're going to want to get in your place one way or another. And it happens.
SpeakerIt happens. I have a first floor and then I have a second flower room upstairs. And I had my wife filling the res while I was working downstairs. And then she's like, babe, babe, I couldn't, I didn't know what valve to shut. And I was like, what? I see from the roof like little droplets come down almost right away. I'm like, damn it, man. I can only imagine in a third floor and those Amsterdam buildings are pretty old, man.
SpeakerSo you're probably... Leaking water straight down. Oh, dude.
AaronWater's coming out of the shop on the ground floor. So whatever the pop it is, there's like water flowing out the front door. And that is exactly how the place got popped. A pipe had...
AaronThe place had been flooded a couple times. We were lucky that we knew the kid who was working in the shop down the ground floor. And he said, hey, your shit's been leaking this morning. We'll say, okay, we brought a broken pipe, blah, blah, blah, blah. Well, actually, one day a pipe really broke. And that shit, like, flooded the shop. It wasn't our pipe. It was from the shop.
AaronThey were doing some remodeling. But the fire department came. When they saw the water coming out of the front of the shop, they didn't want to break the glass door wall thing. So they looked at any place they could get in, and they saw a window that was cracked about a centimeter on the second floor. So they said, oh, well, we'll just go in through there.
AaronWhen they get into the window and then they move the black and white liner so that you can't see any light out the window, boom, they just get hit with like, you know, 32, 3600 watt lights, boom, and there goes your shit, you know, and then next thing you know, There's a big container out in front of that apartment, and plants are getting thrown out the window into the container.
AaronThe whole fucking neighborhood's watching. The whole coffee shops are watching. No one's getting a couple of them.
SpeakerI saw a video once on YouTube of that shit, the plants getting tossed out the window into a container.
BubblemanThat's horrible, man. Yeah, talk about disrespecting the plants, I'll tell you. I thought it was going to end better, Aaron. I thought this was going to be like an almost, but we got away because we knew a guy or something. And it reminded me of a story of some friends of mine that were growing out on the island. And I guess they were taking power because they were needing so much that they had hacked into their power.
BubblemanAnd they basically blew their line. This was way down after many, many grows. They blew their line right off the transformer. So it like sparked and blew off the transformer and was like whipping around on the street. And so they were like, okay, we're definitely getting busted. And then the guy that showed up was their buddy. And he was like, oh shit, like first of all, we've got to find another transformer.
BubblemanSo he kind of located this like $10,000 or $15,000 transformer that he ended up going up and Using all the hydro tools and whatnot, it was quite a near miss. It was like, I bet you it was maybe one of the only times that someone's blown the line right off the transformer and not been busted for it.
AaronI got a good one for you. In Amsterdam, I don't know how many years ago, there was a whole city that lost complete power. Okay? And the city was on one side of this huge bridge that crossed over a river. Okay, well, you know, the Dutchies are pretty crafty, bro, so they found a way. Under this bridge was a giant room, like kilometers long. And they fucking set it up for a grow.
AaronUnder this bridge that you're driving over. And when they went to tap the power...
AaronOh yeah. Bagel sandwich or something. They went to attack the power. Whoever did it, their shoes blew off, there was a blood splatter on the wall, and the whole city lost power. And they searched for about two and a half days to find this, what happened and where it was, and it was in this bridge. And this huge grow room, I mean like from one end of the bridge to the under end of the bridge is blown.
AaronAnd like, Yeah, I mean, shit happens, bro. Electricity's no joke.
PhilSure ain't.
BubblemanOh, shit. That's dangerous shit for sure. We got Soma.
SpeakerElectricity and water. I have a fun story of the overfull reservoir. I had my cousin staying with me, and I ran a small bag of hash, and I was like, okay, I need you to just wash these bags out for me. So I leave to run to the airport to pick somebody up, and I get a phone call about 20 minutes in, and he's like, oh my God.
SpeakerI was like, what's going on? He's like, I fucked up so bad. He was just frantic, and I was like, what is going on? He's like, the sink clogged, and I went in the kitchen to get some food and smoke a bowl, and now there is water everywhere. And so I couldn't understand what the hell he was saying, so I was like, go take a picture for me.
SpeakerHe's like, it's coming through the roof. And I was like, go take a picture. So this motherfucker goes and takes a picture, and I get this picture of my fixture with water literally pouring out of this fixture with the light bulbs on. That's never good. So I call him back to say, oh my God, turn the lights off. No, he didn't answer. So I called every single person that I could figure out that lived in a radius near me and couldn't get a hold of anybody.
SpeakerFinally, about 20 minutes after that, I got a hold of him. And I was like, don't you ever send me a picture like that again without answering. I thought he was sitting there dead, like, fried my house. Like, it was horrible. So that was my first full reservoir-filling experience in my new house. They realize that if we do that, it's going directly to the basement through this one fixture.
SpeakerSo, horrible, horrible. Electricity and water is never good. Ever. No. Flooding your neighbors' houses are never good. No. Flooding anything is never good.
BubblemanIt's definitely one of the main worries. The flooding and the electricity are probably the main worries of homeowners when they're renting out houses. It's like I don't think they're really, I mean I wouldn't be against someone growing herb if it was helping pay my mortgage and whatnot in a house that I was renting as long as I knew once again that they were upholding certain standards that were in place to protect my home, really.
BubblemanI've seen enough people trash homes.
PhilLandlords get pretty upset. Mark, if you remember the last place I was at in Bay Shores last year? Yes. Yeah, the landlord that I had there, when I moved in a few years prior, my mom had helped me move. And she took a bunch of old obsolete grow gear, an empty magnetic ballast, a switchboard, like a flipboard, and she put it in the top back room. And my landlord went in to go sand the door down before we moved in and he found all this old obsolete grow gear, a bunch of general hydroponic bottles and absolutely lost his mind.
PhilHis concerns, his two concerns, We're splicing electricity and water. Water everywhere. I threw a license in his face and all he could mutter and shake and say was water and electricity, electricity and water, water and electricity. He was just worried about everybody getting flooded and shocked. The brain goes to, he wouldn't even let me get a word out. He was just, no, like shaking and vibrating.
AaronDon't you think it's more fire? Fire related. They're always worried about fire.
SpeakerI was always scared of the electric part too.
BubblemanYeah. We always used professional electricians.
SpeakerYeah.
BubblemanThey were just electricians. They were really good electricians. That's what they did. They owned electric companies and did electrical work throughout the day. And then it was like at night, oh, yeah, I'll do a little moonlight and go set up a hundred lighter or whatever for my buddy. It's like perfect. You had to have that guy, man. He had to be solid and guaranteed. He never smelled like booze and he never puffed, ever.
BubblemanI don't want to see that guy puffing. Yeah.
SpeakerIt's key to watch the electrician puff and joints while he's working.
BubblemanJust dabbing your fucking electrician out with Gorilla Glue 4.
SpeakerCome on, take another one. Double up. Ninja dab. Okay, now go set up the whole show. Whoa, check out the...
AaronI was just actually... I was over at the greenhouse the other day, and the electrician was there, and I wanted to take a picture of how Sparky looked when he rolled up. He's got his little electric tool bag, Okay, little, small, little electric tool bag. And then he is wearing flip-flops, you know, cruising to the job site. And I'm like, oh, Sparky, bro, like you are the, I go, you are ready.
AaronYou're all comfortable and shit. And we start laughing. And I go, you're not worried about, you know, jolting? He's like, nah, bro, I'm all good. He goes, but I do know this guy that used to be able to take, He was so well grounded that he would be able to know the voltage that's coming through those lines, you know, by touching them. He would touch them without a gauge.
AaronHe'd be like, oh, that's 110. You know, oh, 220. You know, he would be able to feel the current, and that's the way he would do his electric test. I was like, that motherfucker is a crazy guy.
Speaker220 is a little more than just like, whoa, like, you're trying to fucking knock your socks off. Welcome, Fletcher.
BubblemanI think we've got one more spot left open for Soma, who said he was going to come in in a few minutes. Nice to see Soma and Ash Church. I don't think he's ever made it.
HoratioI've got a question while we've got a shot. Now, when I tried the Warlock, which wasn't the Barb, I found it just as, you know, unique and tantalizing. What are the genetics on that? Because Gardner had both in Fresh Frozen, and it was one of those days where I'm like, yeah, this stuff is really putting a stress on my dry sift. I don't really know. This looks better.
HoratioOh, God. Now, that's just in those turps. So what is the warlock? It seems like he loves...
BubblemanThe warlock is a skunk crossed with an afghan.
HoratioOkay. Because I really like it.
BubblemanAnd the male was inbred for two generations longer than the pre-2000 warlock, which was then crossed back to its original mother. I'm reading this at Kind Green Buds. There's a review up there. I used to get it years ago through Breeder Steve, and I didn't remember it being as... I think the one that he had seemed a little more of Afghan, and this one that the great gardener left behind the other day, it's that skunk.
BubblemanIt's just that, and I mean skunk number one, like that skunk man Sam skunk that just smells like fruit.
HoratioOkay, so it's something he's developed, because that's what it is. I'm like, I've heard of Warlock, but it's not root-y, skunk, unique, like the one I smelled. That's kind of why I wondered. I'm like, okay, well, whatever is going on in his fresh frozen, I don't know what the equivalent would be in dry sift. So I guess maybe, had you run that before in dry sift? Warlock, no, I've only ever made bubble hash with Warlock.
HoratioOkay, because yeah, that one looked like another one that might crash my screens.
SpeakerYou got your pop ready?
BubblemanI want Tangy really bad. Goat has a female that I'm dying for. Okay, well, shit. Aaron's got the Tangy hat. He should be able to hook that shit up. Hey, these guys have a female Tangy.
AaronCuban, go to Fino. Fino type.
SpeakerYeah, I was actually going to hang out with them yesterday, but something happened with their scheduling, so we're going to link up today. But man, these guys have a pheno of the tangy that they selected themselves. It tastes like if you would have gotten a fresh orange juice and you left it out in the sun for like 10 days in the summer and then went to smell it, you know what I mean?
SpeakerAnd it smells like some fucking hardcore rotting oranges, bro. It's so, so fire.
AaronI wish I had that.
SpeakerIt is great, bro.
AaronWho has that?
SpeakerTerp Hunter and Goat Organics by Greener Today. Their phenol of tangy is so unique. It's not sweet and it's like so bitter and strange. It's awesome.
BubblemanI think Fletch is puffing on it right now, he was saying.
SpeakerFletch? Oh yeah, I believe it, bro. I puffed on it yesterday at 7 Point Studios. I was actually trying to trade one of my headstock jars for that one. Yeah, it's bomb. I want to hit. Come on up here to Seattle.
AaronI think I'm going to have to make a special trip up there soon. Are you going to go with me, Tony? What's up?
SpeakerYou can come see me too. Tony's down for all the trips. Yeah, I'm going to be down for more than going with you.
BubblemanAll right. You guys will be emailing in the jet.
AaronHave you seen what they do with these e-nails, bro? Like yesterday I seen a Darth Vader plastic toy, you know, like a thing, and it's got the... Yeah, dab that, Tony.
AaronAnd they got these e-nails, dude, in these like toys now, bro. Oh, I know.
BubblemanD-nail, e-nail. I've seen them in like Nintendos and Playstations and shit. Yeah, I think it must be the same dude. I've seen Lego ones and all sorts of things. I just have a regular one, but it works.
SpeakerYeah, that's some bomb tangy.
SpeakerI got a Lemon G hybrid that... Man, you guys got to try that shit. It's from Tierra Rojo. It says, hey, start off. I like the candy, but just lemon. It's really nice.
BubblemanBoom. Nice melt there, Cuban.
SpeakerYeah, thanks, man. That was the haze dry sift.
BubblemanWell, haze is one of my all-time favorites. I used to grow one that was about 17 weeks of flowering.
SpeakerYeah, we had one like that in Florida. It was called the black haze, and it went for like 120 days. It put out so much weight. It was just, it was incredible, you know what I mean? It produced, it was very strong, always not put you on your ass. You smoke and you're just stoned.
BubblemanTotally exotic. Thank you for joining us today.
SpeakerI start, not to feel emotional, but you know, I start feeling like, damn, man, I'm going to have to get rid of this haze if I want that fifth crop in the year. And I'll go with eight and nine weekers as opposed to 12. So it's hard for me, man, but I'm going towards phasing out the hazes in the garden.
AaronImagine you're a seed company, bro, and you like sativas. You can't set, it's hard to sell them.
SpeakerYeah.
AaronWhen you have a 12 week or, you know, whatever, however many weeks. Any growers, what's the quickest, biggest, fastest thing you've got? It's cookies or OG.
BubblemanYeah, but that's going to be a thing of the past, that prohibition-based growing. Once their profit margin is robbed of them, they'll have to grow weed for the right reasons, which is awesome. And then they'll realize that those exotic strains are the things that will set you apart from everyone else.
SpeakerThe economic time we're in right now.
AaronLet's put Tony on mute. Damn Lola.
SpeakerWe did it, but actually I think he did it himself. Lola.
AaronLola, Lola.
SpeakerI mean now, like Fletch said, cookies and OG, those are strains that at week nine, they're pretty fire and they're done and they're tasty. But man, it's just the hazes. Haze is something, like I was telling these guys, I can smoke pound after pound after pound of haze. And still get high every time. Like I smoke blunts. This is just haze, you know. It's my weed, my go-to weed for medical.
AaronI mean, like you talk about cookies, bro, but like if you're a grower, that's going to be the first and last time you grill cookies is that first time because it don't yield for shit. And it might be beautiful, great herb, but it doesn't yield, bro. Maybe there's some cuts from seed that do.
SpeakerNo, per plant, it sucks. But if you pack them in 25 light and just slam them in there, cookies will kill it. Or if you do like Cuban style where it's like a fucking two-pound plant inside or whatever. Yeah, so I grow trees inside. I do one plant per light, and this last time I experimented with two plants per light. And with forum cut cookies, I was able to achieve one and three quarters of a pound of bagged weight, not counting fresh frozen and stuff like that that I hashed out.
SpeakerIt actually did pretty good. So my next try is to try to put four forum cuts per light and try to fit like three tops per square in the trellis to really fill it in because that plant is unique to grow. Its bud structure is strange. That it doesn't dense out, you know, it's not like a big cola producing plant. So you can really pack them in there without the mold.
SpeakerOh yeah, they're hard and heavy for sure. Yeah, I agree. I mean, it gets pretty good light penetration if you pull some of the fan leaves off and shit. I mean, you can put so many, it's like a pile of sticks sitting under your light basically at the end. And if you don't have enough plants, it'll just look like a couple sticks, and that's it. And that's why, you know, per plant, it sucks at yield.
SpeakerI agree 100%. But if you put enough of them in per lamp and just, you know, slam them in there, OG, in my experience, is pretty similar, unless, you know, same thing with OG. If you put OG in, like, um... Those Evan Grow systems and stuff, I mean, you can pull half-pound, three-quarter-pound OG plants inside, no problem, but they need a six-week veg or seven-week veg.
AaronYeah, I mean, so you got to, you know, if you got to think about it as a grower. Oh, yeah, I don't like it. You got to veg it out for 16, like, look, I like to call LA Confidential, which doesn't yield very much, a 16-week plant. And people are like, what do you mean? I'll be like, well, because you got to veg that motherfucker for eight weeks.
AaronPrior to flowering it, because the bigger you get it, the more it's going to produce, at least with this Afghani variety.
SpeakerEvery Bubba Master, anything like that, like LA Bubba Master type related plant, the bigger you get it before you flip it, the fatter the nubs get. If you flip a four foot or five foot tall Bubba inside, it'll put off big old huge arms almost. But if you flip like a one-footer of it, it'll just be little pea-sized butts.
AaronI watched it happen in Amsterdam. Like, there's a dude who we used to work with decided to get greedy, and he went behind our back and gave out the L.A. cut in Amsterdam, and then everybody in Amsterdam got this L.A., but they didn't know how to fucking grow it. Okay? So they all thought they could veg this shit for like seven days, And then flip it. And then like wreak the rewards, you know.
AaronAnd it was just like you would see some great crops, but they would be like, I only got like, I didn't even get one key off my crop. And I'd just die. I'd go, because you got bad karma cuttings, bro.
SpeakerYou know? Yeah, if you do like a seven-day-old bubba cut, I mean, that thing's going to be just like this big.
AaronIt's going to be like this big, bro. It's nothing.
SpeakerIt's all leaf pretty much. I think, man, the most important phase of growing is vegging. So I love vegging. I baby my plants. I veg for 12 weeks, bro, but I have a veg nursery, you know what I'm saying? So it doesn't affect my flower growth. Because I take my plants 12, 13 weeks in flour, I get that same 13 weeks in veg, and I'm able to train, get multiple tops, and et cetera.
SpeakerBut back to the cookies thing, my thing with cookies is that I can't smoke a whole pound of cookies. It's not like my go-to smoke. It's too rough for my throat, I think. I don't really like the way it blazes. Hash-wise, it's fire. Yeah, I love Sour Diesel, you know, and that strain doesn't get nearly enough play as it used to. I mean, you know, majority of the people have cuts that are probably infected, diseased, don't perform like they used to, but if you still have a good cut of it, I mean, it's great herb in terms of what Cuban's saying, you know, great smokability.
SpeakerSpeaking of diseased and stuff like that. What's that? What strain? Sour Diesel. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I love smoking that when it's proper. Joint after joint of Sour Diesel tastes and smokes great.
AaronYeah, there was a few years back when, I don't know, maybe eight years ago or something, it was like sour mania out here. Yeah, yeah. You go up in the hills of Humboldt, bro, it's sour, sour everywhere.
SpeakerAaron, I know that you and I know some of the same people in Humboldt from 10 years ago. I know exactly what you're talking about. To be honest, even today, those hills, every greenhouse is pretty much up there. If you own a nursery up in Ukiah or anywhere in Mendo, Humboldt, Trinity area, salaries will be your best-selling cutting without question for all the light depth guys. It's still going strong.
SpeakerYou just don't see it. No, because all that herb goes east. That shit's bought before it's trimmed up.
SpeakerHey man, I miss those days when the herb was bought before it was trimmed. Man, those were the days. That's like early 2000s, late 90s, right? Times have changed, man. But hey, to the disease thing, bro, I've been using a lot of... Thank you so much for joining us.
SpeakerFeedback from the plants.
PhilFeed the soil as much as possible. The healthier your soil is, the plants fight off disease and bugs like no one's business. If the soil's not amended properly, your plants are helpless. They can't defend themselves properly. Yeah.
SpeakerEver since we started using aerated compost tea brewer, like the actual Vortex brewer with the 60 liter per minute,
SpeakerYeah, 60 liter per minute air pump. The health of our plants has definitely gone. That was probably about four years ago we started using the composting brewers. Between using that, adding things like alfalfa meal, crab meal, fish bone meal, kelp meal, we use a lot of ocean-based stuff, especially being up here in the Northwest. We have really easy access to You know, direct source for crab shell and whatever you basically want, oyster shell.
SpeakerFrom all the Northwest Sea processing up here. Yeah. It's amazing how just, at least from my observation, I top dressed a high nitrogen guano that I saw at the store. And just to try it out, you know, I've never top dressed. But I guess watering that stuff in after, because I water two to three times a day with the watering system. Thank you so much for joining us.
SpeakerWhat we've done instead of adding 50 different species into brews, we're actually breeding specific varieties and then take it up to the microscope and just make sure it's fungal based rather than bacteria based depending on what you're using, what you're trying to breed in it. We're using commercially available species of
SpeakerJust like Actinovate, for example, right? You can do just Actinovate or just do whatever the next one is. We've seen really good results from that as well because you're breeding species-specific microorganisms rather than dumping them all into your compost tea and just expecting them to fight each other for dominance depending on how long, what the temperature is, aeration, etc.
HoratioFletcher, have you found anything with, I mean, when I'm in a situation where let's say I have a mixed compost and I'm going to go into a tea brew, I've always found what I fed in helps in that fight for dominance. So I can switch a, I could literally show up, dump in a little bit of a certain type of flour and in two to three hours your entire brew is going to start to foam up and go fungal just by feeding in a cycle of dominance.
HoratioSo I've I was kind of seeing if you were ever going to look, have you ever looked at blood when it comes to hyperfeeding bacteria using, I don't want to say where I got it from, but actually using active live blood. It seems a single teaspoon can completely change the color of a thousand liters. And it usually takes six hours for that conversion to go over. But I feed in, you could say, more natural things.
HoratioI've kind of started from Thank you for watching.
SpeakerWe haven't focused on how far we can take it, but I mainly focus on fungal brews, specifically around heavy use of kelp. Depending on the amount of time that you brew for, like you said, if you add singular You can add additives to any tea. It can completely change the composition of the tea and what organizm is going to be dominant in that brew. That absolutely is 100% true.
SpeakerYou can add one thing that will completely change the dynamic of that. It may not happen immediately if it's not a chemical. It's just some other organic additive, but like you said, it's going to promote the growth or change of the microbe composition in that solution without question. This is why we use Kashi for veg and things like crab meal for calcium additive and stuff like that.
SpeakerHave you guys tried the Grokashi yet? Dr. No, I haven't. My friend is brewing his own EM1 at his house, and he loves that. That's anaerobic bacteria, I believe, right, is what you're breeding with the Grokashi? Like Horatio was saying, we've been focusing mainly on fungal teas. They'll turn bacterial if you just let them brew long enough. When we do bacterial teas, it's usually just the old tea.
SpeakerThat's the point of the tea brews. You batch up a brew, and then you feed it, and that brew is different each time depending on what you're trying to accomplish. I'm a proponent for it, and I think that If you look at the, say if you look at cannabinoids like sequencing codes or DNA and you had 85 or 100 of them, it's kind of like humans. If we didn't use our jumpstart or endocannabinoid system or tap into certain systems, we wouldn't know they existed.
SpeakerSo with the plant, I feel like when people ask me about what's the difference between growing like hydro on tables or in deep water culture, What about like instant tea? Like, you know, beneficial bacteria?
AaronThank you so much for joining us today.
SpeakerThere's an area to work with so you can get to a finer . . . To answer Aaron's question, I like bacteria and fungal teas. I just don't like putting them in the same tea. I'm all for adding them to the soil both together and letting them work together. I just don't want them fighting for the same space in the same solution. That's simply it. I think adding them separately to the soil And then allowing them to fight for dominance in the soil environment or eat through the soil or whatever's in the soil or whatever that's breaking down, beneficial relationships, any of that, I think that is more effective in my experience.
SpeakerYou know, I don't have any 100% confidence for that, you know. Yeah, well, my thing is as like a hydro grower, I run cocoa, right? So everything's watered, soilless, etc. When I look at products that have beneficials, I don't really understand them. So like Great White, for example, I used to use that, but when you look at the label, it has like 30 or 40 different species of stuff on it, right?
SpeakerAnd Archive's like, man, that's like a slurry of stuff. You got to focus on one or another that's proper. So when I looked at Michael's, I was at the store and I've heard about them because they grew like one of the biggest pumpkins in record or whatever. It focuses on either One species of bacteria or whatever the case is, but it's only one per product, right? And with that, I've seen just mad results, man.
SpeakerIt's crazy. I hope I grow a world record yielding cannabis plant like these guys did with a pumpkin, you know what I'm saying?
AaronLet's see. They use a lot of nitrogen to grow those big ass vegetables, bro. You know that? Yeah. That's their secret. They pump in nitrogen and mycos, I guess, too.
SpeakerDr. One thing that I think with hydroponics growing is hydroponics growing is specifically around providing a plant with the nutritional needs it wants to grow mass. Whether that's bud mass, leaf mass, stem mass is all going to depend on what type of actual salts you're feeding your plant. So as a result of that, it's a mass thing. The plant is growing at your dictation based upon what you're feeding it.
SpeakerWhereas with an organic soil or a more organic-based approach, the plant is given a little bit more selection as to what it gets. And that's why I don't know if anybody here has grown DWC or anything where there's absolutely no medium at all. The plants grow like fucking gangbusters. When you have DWC locked in, I've never seen plants grow as fast.
SpeakerI've never seen buds as big either. I mean, dried pounds just like huge pieces in it. That, in my opinion, is because the roots are suspended in a solution where the plant is able to pull whatever We're going to talk a little bit more about what we're going to talk about today. We're going to talk a little bit more about what we're going to talk about today.
SpeakerWe're going to talk a little bit more about what we're going to talk about today.
SpeakerA little bit more back in the day. In 97 I did a aero system with 10 inch PVC pipes and little spray heads and little baskets. And then these tubes would be tilted on one way and you'd have a 50 gallon drum and another 50 gallon drum on the floor. So that was like an aero system. And I used to try to do organic aeroponics. And so utilizing like That sprayer as a wash, you can make a tea brew, and you can suspend those roots, spraying them as well, so that gets 300% more oxygen than utilizing, say, soil.
SpeakerAnd so I used to use different types of organic conditioning, things like that, and then I found, you know, something simple like a quarter teaspoon of, like, hydrogen peroxide to gallon was able to... Kill any fungals and stuff like that when you're doing aerial or deep water culture. You know, just a simple amount of hydrogen peroxide. And so in soil, with what we were talking about here in soil, the difference is when you're making the bruise and you're passing through a fungal or a bacteria, you're allowing those two to interact inside the soil and it works kind of like the hydrogen peroxide on the plant's roots, you know?
SpeakerThere's just a really organic way of doing it where there's a very Systematic, scientific way of doing it.
BubblemanBreeders Steve used to do a guppy ponics, he used to call it, and it was an aeroponic system with a bladder that he created underneath the roots that was very dark, and the roots would hang like out of a power cloner, and they would just grow these huge monster balls because he was, the types of sprayers that he was using was one thing, but the, his reservoir was a giant fish tank full of Egyptian mouth breeders, and these mouth breeders would shit, and their shit would feed these worms that were in like a sack.
BubblemanSecond tank within the tank, and those worms would feed his plants. It was an absolutely unbelievable system, and I'll tell you, the taste on the sweet skunk that he grew, Guppy Ponick, was phenomenal. But I'm sure Fletch could attest to this when he said the DWC can grow more weight in days. It can also kill faster than any other way. That aeroponics man, you can kill a fucking plant.
SpeakerSo you guys are making a confession. So this is why I no longer grow that way. Some of my confessions would be, you know, in the 90s when you're like renting houses and you're renting them in houses that don't have great power or sustainable power and it's wintertime, sometimes you lose power and then like you lose everything, you know. You share free business? You're fucked, dude. The power goes out.
SpeakerAll your pumps go out. The aerosystem goes out. You go and watch your plants just go. It's just like, wow, two days like that in a system can really fuck shit up. So with soil, especially like what Fletch is talking about, it's also more forgiving, if you will. Absolutely, yes.
SpeakerYeah, I definitely agree, man. Here in Washington in the fall, we have this stuff called windstorms, right? We don't have this in Florida. So they're like, you know, high wind and it gets cold as shit and trees get toppled over, of course, on the power lines. So week four or five of flower, man, I lost power for like three, four days and I was filling a generator up with gas every four hours, running like 10% capacity.
SpeakerThank God, bro, I wasn't on hydro. That's why I told people, I'm like, man, you see, this is why I don't do hydroponics. Yeah. In like a DWC sense, because fuck, I would have lost the garden right there. Yeah.
SpeakerSo hey, on Instagram, I know Bubble Man's seen it, but what do you guys think about everybody squishing their nugs with a hair iron to like, to do the rosining of the flowers?
BubblemanWell, I didn't see them doing their flowers. Oh, man.
SpeakerI just had a friend that told me about that and we just checked that out. Wayne, where did this came from is what I'd like to know. So check this out, right? They get a piece of parchment. Yeah, they get a piece of parchment and they stick a nug in between, right? And then you get the hair iron on like 400 degrees and you just squish the shit out of the nug and oils will secrete out of the flour.
SpeakerAnd you can dab these oils and they're calling it juicing or rosining the flours. Now, I myself have a little stack of flat buds on my coffee table. You know, I'm guilty of messing with it, but I know just about every hash maker on Instagram has squished a nug this week, bro. I just did this yesterday, actually, and we were discussing that it reminds me of that Mexi Brickweed that I used to get.
SpeakerYes. You get a pound, like a snack pack, you know? Yeah, it's crazy, but I don't know. What temperature did you get that? Did you say that was at $411? I'm sorry, maybe I just anticipated. My hair iron is pretty ghetto, bro. It's one of those Revlons from Walmart that are like $15 for a digital thing, you know? So I'm estimating like $350 to $400, but what I really do is I put it at $30.
AaronCan you imagine even walking into Walmart getting this hair iron?
AaronI don't know what people thought, but...
SpeakerActually shopping for it, like watching you guys in the hair aisles, like just like, hmm, what is this? That would be the best part.
BubblemanI just get my wife to pick it up for me.
SpeakerI mean, Bowman, I don't remember, you know, how long has that rosin been around? I mean, probably since the 90s. I mean, I don't remember that.
BubblemanIt's interesting. Someone just emailed me and wanted to talk about rosin, and... So I have one more room. I had one spot left for Soma, but Jason came in and grabbed it. I'm not sure how that happened, but welcome, Jason. You got Soma's spot. And someone else wanted to come in, but I told them I would talk about Rosin next week because I wanted to invite, was it Chad or Thad?
BubblemanThis guy who started Rosin, he goes by the name Compassion and he is on Vancouver Island or at least he used to be. Probably could get in touch with him and if we want to have a Rosin conversation, I suggest we do it next week so we can invite this kid Justin to talk about it. Cuban, you're welcome to discuss it and obviously the bud thing is a little bit different from Rosin.
BubblemanRosin was always about milking glands, non-melty glands.
BubblemanI remember the first time I saw it, when he scraped it off with a razor blade, it looked just like a butter or something. It was just white and literally looked like oil scraped off a pan. Right. That's what I remember. It was like a double-boiled pan.
SpeakerAnd I don't remember if it was Overgrow or where he originally did that. It may have been Cannabis Culture Magazine forums. Man, I can't remember. I mean, it's like, you know, even with the oil stuff, everybody's like, the butter is a Cali thing. It's like, I remember the Butter King up on Vancouver Island or whatever that was, right? He had articles back in Cannabis Culture. We've been shitting the butter.
BubblemanHere's a funny story I'll tell all the Hash Church guys, because it's just funny. It's part of the history that you would never know. So there's a photographer and a writer for cannabis culture back in the day, and his name's Pete Brady. And in fact, he was a really good writer. If you want to read a funny story, you can Google on the road with bubble, or maybe on the road with bubble man, Pete Brady, cannabis culture, put all that into the search.
BubblemanYou should be able to find it. And he's a real comedic writer and he's very good at his metaphors and his explanations and how he paints a picture in your head and kind of makes you laugh while he's doing it. And so I always wanted to give him the opportunities of photographing or good stories. This is before I wrote and really before I was taking a lot of pictures.
BubblemanSo I invited him over to my gallery one day because I had acquired this hash that were in these patties that were about this big. They were very thin and they had been pressed very hard, so hard in fact that when the guy lifted up whatever he pressed it in, red oil had seeped out of the resin. And so the hash was very red already but this red oil was like someone painted red oil on top of this hash and it was just beautiful water hash.
BubblemanSo I called him up to take pictures. And so simultaneously I called up a friend of mine by the name of Barge who went under the name Tricomb Farmer. He was also a photographer for Cannabis Culture and I wanted him to have the opportunity to photograph. And I called another friend of mine by the name of Lincoln who was also a photographer and I thought this was just advantageous to all of these guys to get these shots because it's a beautiful hash.
BubblemanI had already gotten my shots. I wanted them to get them too. So Pete came over first, showed up, went on the back deck, photographed them in the sun for about 40 minutes. And then after when he was done, he came into the gallery looking like a kid that just broke his, like tipped over his dad's motorcycle or something. And he had the hash in his hand and he had crumbled it all up.
BubblemanHe just like crumbled it all up. And so... I flipped out. I was like, I was so upset, A, that he would do that to the hash, but B, that he would rob those people of the right to photograph that hash. And I just felt like, man, that's not right. So I was kind of like, dude, you've got to get out of here right now. I'm not sure I'm going to be giving you too many stories in the future.
BubblemanAnd I got real choked. So he basically left my gallery with his tail between his legs, walked Across the street to DeKine, which had just opened, and met the Butter King, Steve, who was not named the Butter King at the time, and I was under the impression, and maybe this isn't true, but I really was under the impression that Pete had even named him the Butter King by writing this article, because he had this big chair that he was sitting people down in, and He wrote this article.
BubblemanYou can Google it as well, and it's a butter king. It's the first butter king article ever in cannabis culture, and that's basically what he did from me sending him out. And in that article, it's funny because he writes, the butter, much stronger than bubble hash, and it was sort of like a little tap from Pete Brady, but that's how that sort of butter king started back in the day.
BubblemanI mean, he was, I mean, Steve's a friend of mine. I like Steve a lot, and we definitely aren't in any way, shape, or form against one another, but it was definitely a little shocking at the time, you know, just to help a buddy out, let him photograph something, and then when you tell him, hey, get out of here, he literally leaves to go write an article that's against your company.
BubblemanThe history here on Hash Church.
BubblemanI was getting dinged here while I was talking.
BubblemanYeah, so maybe a rosin show for next week. Not a show, but maybe just like an hour or something. I'll try and track down the original rosin guy and we can see what he thinks about people squishing buds. Maybe we'll even all do it. We'll set it all up so next week we've got our thing.
SpeakerThe bud squisher on Instagram, the guy that started the trend of squishing nugs, he goes by Soil Grown. Soil Grown. Maybe we can try to get the Bud Squisher over here, the 2015 Rosin Tech too. Awesome. It's pretty cool, man. It was nice to see resin that was half melt, like a 45. You have to go through a lot of trouble, but hey, it's interesting. Well, it's working over here.
SpeakerI think it is the stillest thing ever. Like, we got such little resin out of that. Yeah. 10 minutes for one dab, you're like, oh, oh, I see a tiny, tiny little spot. And then you squish it again, oh, there's another one. And it's like, 10 minutes later, you got this little teeny itty bitty thing, you go through like this much shit for it. Like, I just, I don't get it.
SpeakerMaybe there's a better technique that everybody can share. Because I personally, I just, yeah, I don't understand why you would do that. There's so much resin left in these. This thing is so sticky, and it will not transfer onto the parchment, no matter what I do.
SpeakerI'm interested. That's for sure. Like Bubble Man said, it was meant for pounds of no-melt Nebraska resin. And actually get something out of it, you know?
BubblemanYeah, or just a way for people who have never seen it to access even a try, just to get to have, you know, a dab. It seems so ridiculous to many of us, but there's a lot of people out there that just have zero access at all, and if that's a way that they can access a dab by just squeezing a nugget, well, I'm all for it, for them to try it and give it a shot.
BubblemanSeems pretty hilarious.
SpeakerSeems pretty hilarious. Good word for it. But more power to them. I mean, I've seen some pictures of it that I was just like, damn. All right. But how much did that take? There's got to be a trick to it. I guarantee you people have been sitting here working on this. I just barely was introduced to it literally yesterday. So I'm sure there's technique to it, just like anything.
SpeakerSo it'll be interesting. I'm definitely interested to hear about it next week.
BubblemanI think it's time for a bong rep. Gotta keep this party going.
BubblemanGet a little D420K. Woo! Little dry sift gift from D420K. Always keeping it real. Self-pressed.
SpeakerDamn, look at the haze cola that just... Just ended up getting on the screen. That was nice. Nigerian haze. Like that. I like that. That was nice. Tony and I are having a conversation on the chat about the black haze. It's an East Coast strain. If you either lived in New York or Florida, man, you know about the black haze if you were growing and smoking herb in the 90s and early 2000s.
SpeakerThat was the creepy weed that came up from Florida to New York. Well, I had a conversation actually with Cornbread Ricky at High Times. And from my understanding, man, I mean, I grew up in Miami, Florida. We didn't have a strain called creepy. What we had was like, we called fire weed creepy. So you went up to the dealer, you're like, man, you know, I want to get a 20 pieces of creepy.
SpeakerYou either got some haze or you got a really light green haze. Thank you for watching.
SpeakerSo he was under the same understanding that I was in, that there's not a strain called the creepy. But then I see people labeling their plants creepy, and it sounds crazy. I've never heard that there is a strain called creepy, bro. No, it's just a term given to the bud of its dude dankness, if you will. Yeah. So this dude, soup of something in Hawaii, I saw him like labeling a plant triangle cushion, labeling a plant OG, and then the creepy, and he's arguing with people, but I had to unfollow him, man.
SpeakerI'm like, man, I'm from Dade County. I know that there is no strain called creepy, bro. You're going to have to argue with me because I broke down so many pounds of different fireweed that it was all creepy. We didn't call things strains back then, you know what I mean? That's just like calling something kind, bud. Yeah. Midwest is called kind. Can you imagine somebody putting a tag on a plant being like, yeah, this is that late 90s kind, bud.
SpeakerIt's like, what? So that's the way I felt about it, bro. What about the full OGs? Yeah. So I never smoked OG in Florida, but... When I was listening to the Adam Dunn show as I was making my High Times entry, I wanted to listen to the history of OG. And man, did that make me a proud Floridian, bro, to know that so many fire genetics came out of like bag seeds or whatever the case was from Florida.
SpeakerThat's cool. But no, I never got to smoke it. Well, we would smoke, had more of a limey smell to it, but that's what Ricky called Gainesville Greens. That was my favorite type of creepy. It left like resin stuck to the dime bag. It was like the best shit to get as a kid. And then the haze, man. When you got that one like half full and it was a big old haze arm looking like what the dude has in the cup right there.
SpeakerThat would be like a half full. These are Nigerian haze. They're from JJ in New York City. They're from Top Shelf. Yeah. And it's, I mean, they're huge pieces. You know, you don't see. In Florida, people wouldn't break that down into nugs. They would straight up like trim the shit like that and you'd get like an ounce or a half ounce that was this giant nug. And as you were smoking it, you'd just break it down and you had like a long stem with the top still on it.
SpeakerYou know, that was like the best part to smoke in the end. Well, the thing about this that makes it really unique is it's a 65-day flower. So unlike a lot of the other sativas and hay strains, especially if you need to go longer, this guy is crossed with, I believe, an NL5. And JJ spent a long time, I think, starting with an Irish haze and then crossing it over several years to be able to get it to flower earlier and still keep the characteristics of the haze.
SpeakerSo it's killer. You'll see more of it for sure. So Fletch, have you ever heard of crossing Ruderalis to make like the AK-47 or anything with the NL? Well, I think Bubble Man probably knows, you know, for years a lot of the Canadian stuff, all the Mighty Mites and Texeda Timeworks, I mean, that's all rumored to be have, not necessarily Ruderalis, but some type of auto-flowering, you know,
BubblemanWell, Mighty Might for sure, Texada Time Warp, that thing's like a crazy tie, like big giant beast that branches out and stretches like a monster.
SpeakerI don't think that has... Well, like I have a Cambodian from, I can't remember Phil's, Sea Ray, you remember Reefer Man and Sea Ray and all those guys?
BubblemanYeah, I talked to Reefer Man the other day.
SpeakerYeah, I had a Cambodian hybrid of some sort. I can't remember. And I remember them telling me that they had some Southeast Asian varieties that triggered under short night cycles, right? Like you're saying, like, you know, early finishing sativas, they don't flower quick, they just trigger early, you know, middle of July. And I had like a couple Cambodian, I can't remember what they were, Cambodian something or other, which I expected to not start flowering until October outside up here in Washington.
SpeakerAnd this was when I was a kid, just like throwing stuff outside, gorilla.
BubblemanOh, yeah.
SpeakerYou know, that thing started flowering probably end of July, you know.
PhilI think there's a collection as well in the breeding. You could just be selecting seed runs and picking your early flowering plants and just inbreeding that. It doesn't necessarily have to be any type of... There's two different types of Mighty Mites. There's the auto-flowering Mighty Mite. There's one that you cannot clone at all. And then there's the Mighty Mite that's been crossed into several different things, Black Minas, Blackberry.
PhilThere's a whole bunch of different Mighty Mike crosses that are in no way auto-flowering. To my knowledge, there's two different types of Mighty Mites kicking around the BC area. I'm in Vancouver, so I've seen two. I think I dislike them both.
SpeakerI also think that those are genetic trigger points. There are certain things that will trigger things. If you see that something's hard to clone, then that's carrying the gene that's That's more of the characteristics when you see in an autoflower. All that means is there's a trigger mechanism in it that's off timing, offset from the 12-12 or a 13 or an 11. So there's like different timings of engines.
SpeakerThere's different timings for those flowers. And so those different genetic traits get passed along. And AK-47 was bred with a certain type of ruderalis. And those types of characteristics that are Pulled through on flowers like what Jason's talking about and other ones that you've seen. When you see really, really like a haze, it gets really, really knotty, and it gets like a bunch of calyxes, but it harvests very early, 65 days, then it's generally, in my opinion, something that you would see a strong characteristic of having a type of ruderalis characteristic that's in it, a genetic trait that's been carried through it.
AaronThat's making it flower in 65 days? Yeah. I mean, we have cantaloupe haze and that flowers in 56 days.
SpeakerSo it's carrying something.
AaronIt's not a pure haze.
SpeakerClearly. I mean, I think, like Aspen said, we've gone through so many generations of cannabis plants at this point that if selected for any kind of plant, whether it be early flowering, early night cycle trigger period, just indoor flowering time, mold resistance, whatever it is you're breeding for, if you're putting in a few generations a year or have put 10 years into something, You'll give me which one.
SpeakerYeah, exactly. I mean, I knew this guy that lived up on Orcas Island, which is like near Victoria in the San Juan Islands. And he had a strain up here that looked like indoor, harvested the second week of October. You know, in a northern climate, it's like, well, everything should usually be molding by the second week of October. I mean, it's straight up raining out here. But he had bred that strain for like 10 years and finally found a clone.
SpeakerWelcome to Brooklyn, New York gentlemen.
SpeakerSo, yeah, I mean, it definitely, you can definitely breed anything to have almost any trait you want. I think Sam the Skunk Man has even said that himself. You know, he said, oh, you can take Skunk Number One, and he can basically create anything from it. You know, essentially, I think I've seen him read, or say that on ICMAG, and, you know, with enough work, enough generations, and large enough populations, you can probably damn near find anything from You know, a population of mixed heritage.
PhilYou can find anything in doing a large enough seed run. Yeah. When we're talking about doing three to four hundred seed runs per collection, that's basically the numbers that I do for my selection as well, and you find crazy ends of the spectrum, stuff that doesn't even make sense sometimes. So just with the more selection, the more possibilities. They're endless.
SpeakerMany generations makes it, you know, you can move so far away from what you originally started with after four or five generations. Who knows? Yeah, you know, genetics are infinite possibilities. It's like breeding dogs, guys. Yeah. Exactly. How many, look how different the dogs look though, right, in only what, a couple few hundred years of breeding? I mean, that's pretty impressive.
BubblemanDude, impressive. I saw this thing recently, I think it was the top five dogs that were destroyed by bad breeding choice, and the original one was the German Shepherd. Look at the German Shepherd, what a strong dog it was, before this one guy thought it would look good if they looked like they were squatting all the time. So now German Shepherds have these rounded butts and they have really bad hip dysplasia because of the specific choice of the way they look was bred into them.
BubblemanAnd it's amazing. There was an article and you could see the pictures of the dogs like how they were and what they became. And it doesn't take much to look and go, man, that's fucked up. Why would they fucking breed something to make it look like it's like sore? Such a beautiful dog before it got that rounded hip. Just something that I had noticed.
SpeakerHey, Aaron, have you bred dogs before?
AaronHave I bred dogs? Well, it's kind of funny. My mom bred dogs. She was, but not like breeding like a specific breed of dogs. She was like breeding Irish Wolfhounds. And they're like some of the biggest dogs in the world, but, you know, it's a pure, it's not a purebred, but, you know.
SpeakerWell, that's cool that you mentioned that, man, because one of the first people I met here was a breeder. He goes by Lemon Hoco in Washington. And the dude, he's an old guy, you know what I mean, but before he was a Malinois breeder. So he bases his cannabis breeding with the same, I guess, theories that apply in dog breeding. And I thought it was interesting that you said it's like breeding dogs.
SpeakerIt reminded me of that guy. I haven't spoke to him in a while, but he's a cool dude.
AaronSometimes you put two things together and it doesn't come out at all. What the offspring looks like, you're not happy with at all. Or maybe you haven't grown out enough of the offspring, but theoretically you should be able to find that in the first time you grow it out in 100 seeds. But if you did 10,000 seeds... Then you have a lot, you know, you have a bigger spread.
AaronBut if you can't find it in 100, then why go through 10,000?
SpeakerYeah. I only have one rule with breeding, and that is just grow as many of everything that you can make as possible, you know, period. Like that, you know, I don't really care about a lot of the, you know, other stuff people want to talk about in terms of, oh, you have to do this or you have to do that. BXing is no good. This is no good.
SpeakerF2s, whatever. Just make the cross and grow it. And if it's successful and you get great results, in my eyes, you're a successful breeder, period. I don't care what anybody says. Oh, yeah.
AaronF1 hybridization, bro. If it works, you've got the two parents to make those strengths and absolutely keep it going. You're not getting rid of, they might find, the people that are growing those seeds might find something better. Then actually, what you're starting off with, better than your mom, better than your father, depending on which, the pollen donor, you know. They have a chance to find something even better, you know.
SpeakerOn that point, I've got to agree. The one thing I will say is what people really need to do is make sure they're familiar with their parent stuff. That's one thing that really kind of pisses me off when you see people just grab the latest craze and just throw everything at it and release it. At least get familiar with your parent stock, and then you have that instinct to know what to put things with, what directions to go in, and then you will find things, 100%.
SpeakerThere's always those gems. Yeah, that's a good point.
AaronIt's so true. I think that you, you know, true, that's a, that's a fucking good one. Dabs on that one.
SpeakerYou see me where I had the forum cut for four years now and I only just started doing something with it and that's it. It's like I went on no crazy get it out there thing. I just wanted to know the plant for a little while and now I feel that I'm going to come with something worthwhile rather than just something that jumped on a craze and you see it from a lot of good breeders where they're working on things, they have it for a while, you see that familiarity and then boom, they use it with a few different things and because they know where it's going to blend, They can use the same mother with a few different parents and just throw out different wonderful gems on whole different profiles that really open things up for their female hunters.
AaronThe combinations, you know, you have, you know, I don't know what you, it's cool to have all the crayons, but then it's nice to have those primary colors that you use to make all those colors. And once you have those primary colors, you can create and you know what those are going to do when you add them into things, you know. And then you can go through those things that you create to look for that added spice to whatever you just did, you know?
AaronAnd that comes out good, boom, there you have something new, you know? Those are what's special, man. It's the F1 hybrids, bro. It's having those raw colors, putting in with those other gems that are out there, you know?
SpeakerBro, the 24K, the 24K that we've been fucking with, honestly... It's got all of the tangy. It's got that tangy that we want, but it's got that super punch from the OG. It's got the OG structure. It's got the insane frost. I'll be honest with you. I think that we got almost 10% pure heads off of the 24K. Hey, that's beautiful yields, 10%, man. Hey, big ups on sifting those big-ass jars, man.
SpeakerI saw them on the Instagram. Oh, bro, we're going to have a blast. Yo, when you get 10% 99 from like the 196 up, right? That's it, bro. Just that little level. And do you know what we've done? We took the 75 out and got it even more fine down so we've been really dropping it to as small a micron size as we can so that the gap's in between and we can then look at all the different trikes and see where the melting point falls off.
SpeakerHey, you're a very good hash maker, man. But you know what? If you include those heads even that maybe don't melt as good, they yield way higher than the 10. If you're getting 10% full melt, that's beautiful. Not insane, but honestly, the 24K and the Nicole are two very, very special hash strains. Oh, yeah. So I ran this stuff from Exotic Genetics. The strain was called Cookies and Cream.
SpeakerI did 1,800 grams, and I got about, before, you know, I gave a half gram here and there to people so they could test it. I was at like the 9.5% yields, bro. It was amazing, like 170 grams of dry sift. It was a lot of dry sift. Until you're actually doing it, you don't realize what's possible. I'll be honest, now that everyone's really dedicating the time and putting down some notes and going through it, the viability of doing pure heads and taking it to one side is massive.
SpeakerIt's so viable. It's like I can see that everyone's going to be able to try this and it's going to be fun. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone with some melty sift. Do you know what the truth is as well? It sounds crazy, but 97% heads taste like popcorn to me. 99, nothing but turps. Yep. You know what? It's an acquired taste. Yourself, you smoke a lot of dry sift.
SpeakerSo do I. When we have dry sift, if you, let's say, smoke water hash that, let's say, was around with a clean water, you could taste the water. If you're smoking something with stocks, I know in my head what stocks taste like. I'll be right there, Aaron. It's one of those things that when you're spoiled with smoking nothing but resin heads, man, sometimes you just strive for the excellent smoke.
SpeakerWhat do you got there, Claire? I know. What do you got there? Like five pounds of dry sift, bro. That's crazy. Damn, you just shit on my 170 grams, bro. Damn. Hey, holler at your boy. If it ain't at 99, you know what I'm saying? I'm ready for the tangy party time technique for that look.
BubblemanThe tangy party. Yeah, I'm down.
AaronYou know it's like frigging tangerines now everywhere.
SpeakerI think that terpene, the tangerines, is a key to winning first place all the time, man. It's so fire. I love it, bro. I almost traded my head stash fucking jar for jar with a dude that had some tangy water hash, and I couldn't get the jar, man. The dude smoked it all to the head. It's fire. Bro, wait until you get to 24K.
AaronIt's not the winning blend, bro. It's a winning taste.
AaronIt's a winning taste in terpene, but right now, if you enter tangy really into an extract category, you're not going to win because everybody is entering tangy.
SpeakerEverybody's got it. Everybody, yeah. But man, you know what? I would just smoke the tangy to the head then, bro, because it would win for me. If I was a judge, I'd pick tangy.
AaronBut I've only been smoking it for like a year. Yeah, but if you've got 20 people entering Tangy, bro, you're going to be like, oh, it's just fucking Tangy, bro. You've got 20 people, 100 people entering OG, oh, they're all OG. It's got to be something that, boom, pops out of those OGs and pops out of the fucking sativas that comes. I don't know. We look for something different.
AaronYou know what I'm saying? And Tangy is one of those flavors like home. You know, Crockett, God bless him, you know, like, you know, for his work. But, like, he comes up to me in the cannabis cup. He's like, look, you guys got to have this. You got to check it out. And, like, I open up the jar, and I'm like, dude, this is, like, this is 1995, bro.
AaronThis is 1995, 94. I'm like, oh, my God. And he's like, like, hold on, you know. And I gave it to my buddy, Serge, who happened to be there, and He, like, we were all downtown bicycle messengers, moving, pedaling shit around downtown, all sorts of shit, and these were one of those things we had back then, and I was like, damn. He's like, oh my God, it's back, you know?
AaronIt's back, and then, you know, we got to run with it, and then we helped out our buddy, uh, Crockett and produced his whole line and everything. So he's on the straight and narrow. And yeah, it's a flavor, but something else that pops. I mean, you cross that tangy into something, yeah, you can find other flavors, bro. I've heard strawberry flavors. I heard apricot. I've heard peaches, bro.
AaronI mean...
SpeakerThat's what I think is going to be interesting. I really want to see that tangy as an undertone. Where it's so dominant at the moment, I feel as an undertone it will bring out more, 100%. We've noticed that. With the 24K, we've seen a few different phenos. A lot of them are tangy dominant, but the one that we've seen that was kosher dominant was perfect because it just gave that little aftertaste and burst that you kind of want not to dominate but to leave your little taste buds and the throat coated with that little flavor.
AaronYeah, I think our selection of the 24K that's alive, I don't want to say where, but I just want to say alive, that it grows like kosher, but it smells like tangy, and it hits you like kosher. And that's exactly what you want in your breeding product. You look for this flavor on this. You know, I wish I had this bud, this bud structure, this resin content, To go on, onto this, onto this flower, you know, or it's something I want this kind of resin, you know, I want it to be dry.
AaronI don't want it to, you know, act wet and get clumped together, you know, so that's what type of resin I'm going for in my breeding project. There's always got to be something that you're aiming for.
BubblemanThat 24 karat, you guys had some of that in Barcelona last year, I remember, and remember smelling how tangy it was, but it totally looked like a kosher nug. It was super dense.
SpeakerI thought it was like a trick. I didn't knock you as well because I smoked it in the morning thinking, oh, you know, tangy, beautiful morning. It's doing me a good bit of vitamin C. The kosher just knocked me on my ass. I had to have a power nap.
SpeakerYeah, man. So I guess I was alone on the idea then because I brought it up to the guy that had the jar or that tangy hash and I'm like, bro, you have to enter this shit or I'm going to find a way to probably find the turf. And he's like, no, man, we entered it in Seattle in your haze, placed above it, bro, so like why would I ever enter that again?
SpeakerAnd I'm like, man, I guess it's played out if you've been in a medical state for a long time.
AaronHey, you got to know where to take your battles. That's it. If you're going to lead the army, bro, you've got to know where to take your army and you've got to know which crew, which bracket of military you want to take, bro. You know what I'm saying? I'm going to go into this competition and I know what these motherfuckers like, so I'm going to give it to them.
AaronAnd then you give it to them and you just happen to win. You know, or your people are entering this, and they ask you, which one should I enter? And you're like, oh, you know, I don't really feel like you should enter that one. It's take the right thing to the right battle, bro.
SpeakerYou know? Yeah. My next battle's Denver, man. I'm super psyched for that one because I have a couple flavors that are drying up right now in the slow dry. I dry for like four weeks, cure for three, and then when I go dry sift, I dehydrate it at that point, but I'm coming strong with the Terps in Denver.
AaronTell your boys they're on call now for cub duties.
SpeakerHell yeah.
AaronTell them I'll be on call. I'm going to get a hold of you, Cuban, and I'm going to say, hey, we got this war we're going to go into, and I want your boys with their hash to come with them and fucking bang all the rest of these dudes down. You know? And they can walk away with... I got the weapons.
SpeakerI can do it. I'm hella down, man. I'm excited. I love the cups and all that stuff, man, because I don't get to go out very much, so it's like little mini vacations for me to chill with the people I see online in person. It's fun for me.
AaronJust as long as your plants are taken care of.
SpeakerI've got to give props to my homie, old daggy, because while I was out having fun in LA, he was going to my garden at like 11 o'clock at night after taking care of his, taking care of my plants and stuff, calling me every day, so I got a good team. It's small because, you know, where I'm from, you can't trust a lot of people. It's hard to shake that off, so my circle's real tight.
SpeakerBut they take care of me, man.
SpeakerIt's about quality, not quantity, bro. Definitely about quality. You know how they say, loose slips sink ships. Yeah, my brother, for sure. We're part of Prohibition. We've got to be careful. So these guys were like, I made the dude... That made me these dabbers. It took me a little while to link up with him and I was explaining. I'm like, bro, from the moment I wake up, I'm like gardening.
SpeakerIf not, I'm hashing. If not, I'm trying to move packs. If not, I'm being a father. I mean, all these sorts of stuff. I don't have time to ever leave my property. If I do, I'm kind of slacking. You know what I mean? You're like a junior. Yeah, bro. But it's what, like you said, man, it's how you keep the ship afloat the longest is to keep your crew tight.
SpeakerYep.
SpeakerOne thing I'm missing this week is smoke because I'm in the UK and my endocannabinoid system is heavily starved. I can't wait.
BubblemanYeah, no shit.
SpeakerAre you serious? Even with hookups, it's still not quite at the comforts of Amsterdam, Barcelona.
BubblemanI'll have a kilo of full melt delivered in an hour. Is that... Primo.
SpeakerI'll eat up the email.
AaronWorldwide hash. I'll make sure the little guy delivers me some DNA.
SpeakerI have been keeping some beautiful Turbzilla flowers, but even the most wonderful flowers are for two weeks of smoking pure heads. This dropped my endocannabinoid needs.
BubblemanHave you tried bud squishing at all?
SpeakerI just caught the beginning of that, the end of that conversation. I'll have to look back and investigate that.
BubblemanDude, yeah, you can get some dabs out of there, man. It's all the rage. Don't fuck up your plants, bro. Just need a quick kilo to squeeze it.
SpeakerNo, listen.
BubblemanI'll start the new tech. I'll go parchment all my live plants. Okay.
SpeakerI see the new trend. I'm waiting. What's about to happen? We've got an electromagnetic wand that we can go up to a plant, press a button, and all the trikes jump off onto the wand. I want one of those. What? I need one of those. I'm inventing it in my dream tonight.
AaronWell, dude, hurry up, bro. Fuck. Hey, can you see how it's going to be in Amsterdam now? They're going to fucking have these buds that are squished. And then they're going to be selling them, you know, at coffee shops and shit. They're going to be like, yeah, this is the new shit. And then they go, people always complain about their buds being deep and shit, so why not fucking have it, like, squished?
AaronI'm like, yeah, here's the flowers, and here's the hash from it, you know what I'm saying?
BubblemanDo pounds of buds show up in a Pringles can? Yeah, bro.
SpeakerSince you heat them up, they're decarbed. So we were talking about the fact that if you heat them up enough, They're almost crunchy, so we were like, you could package them as like, no chips, you know, but like, someone's going to do this, and they're going to cut this up, and they're going to get chocolate to eat, and they're going to end up with it.
SpeakerMan, when I start squishing nugs, my wife looks at me and she gets obsessed. She's like, stop wasting your time with that. Just roll a blunt. I won't even be able to get enough of a dab for me out of that. I'm like, all right, bro, chill. I tried to do it to some dry sift, right? And my lady looked at me. She's like, what are you doing?
SpeakerWe could just dab that the way it is. Why are you squishing dry sift? I'm like, hey, for the lozen. Thank you, Cleveland Queen. Don't bruise the fruit. I'm a bit of a purist. How much time to keep those intact? Why are you going to crush them right before the moment of victory? For the name of science.
BubblemanListen, the best story ever was you telling me about the gentleman that stuck his finger in your hash at the cup and then like spit on his hand and was like kind of rubbing it all together. That to me is the ultimate like forget about like that's almost as bad as when Dane took Tony's last gram. And wrapped it in a cigarette joint.
SpeakerYeah, he rolled up a tobacco joint.
BubblemanThe whole thing. That's about as bad though. I think those are two faux pas. Don't take your friend's hash, stick your dirty nasty fucking finger in it, and then spit on it and roll it up into a ball.
SpeakerI think I met that guy, actually. I think I met that guy, yeah. Yep, yep. If you met him, you definitely know him. The funny part is that I met up with The Village. He's a grower from California. And we went over to that house after the cup and after we left, right, that he saw this dude like finger fucking my hash and spitting in his hands and all sorts of shit.
SpeakerHe's like, bro, so I'm just going to go out and just like say it and everything, but how did you feel about the guy sticking his fingers in your hash and shit? And I'm like, bro, you know, I didn't really think anything because the guy is like, you know, I was kind of shocked and shit. He's like, bro, if he stuck his fingers in my hash, I'd be pissed off, man, if he fucking spit in my hash and all sorts of shit.
SpeakerSo it was kind of funny, bro. It was a shock to everybody, I think. Did he keep it and smoke it? Nah, he would like, he would like, you know, touch the consistency because I guess he's never seen 99 like that very often so he puts it between his fingers, makes it like, you know, to see how it presses with the heat and then he'll like put it in his palm and spit and rub and like, it was like some, his way of like analyzing quality I guess.
SpeakerOh, that's exactly my expression. I've seen people do it with shatter before. I've given someone a slab of shatter and they just picked it up and just like pulled it and started bending it. Yeah.
SpeakerSo yeah. From the 90s. We don't break it up and bend it around to check it out. Yeah, man. He was doing something like that, you know, but. I guess I was so stoned and hyped up about getting the medal that I was like, yeah, go ahead, stick your finger in it, man, we'll just smash that shit. You like that? You like that? I was already thinking that I could, yeah, yeah, I was doing something like that.
SpeakerIn my head, I'm like, man, you know, more than likely, TSA's going to take this shit from me in the airport. It's a couple grams. He sticks his finger in it, ah, fuck it. We didn't smoke all the hash and definitely made it to my house, so yeah, I got to smoke his skin cells. All over my 99. How do you feel about seeing people that microplane without gloves?
SpeakerIt's kind of the same thing, right? So, bro, I can't microplane very good, bro. So I see, right? And my reasoning is that when I'm getting down to the very last gram or whatever, it snags my glove or it just gives me the impression of a pet egg. You know what I mean? It looks like a pet egg. You know what a pet egg does to calluses and shit?
SpeakerSo I feel like, man, maybe I'm scraping skin cells into my hash. So it freaks me out. You know, with a sieve, I can stick my patty halfway wet in there, spoon it really good, and it gets an even consistency. And if I go, you know, sieve it two or three more times during the drying process, it's broken down pretty evenly. So that's how I've been doing it, man.
SpeakerMicroplane looks very beautiful, though. The first time I saw a proper microplane was when I met Matt Rice, and he had some shit that looked like dry sift. Like, you look at it, and the heads look very separated cleanly. Like if he was trying to imitate dry sift almost. And that's what he told me that he was trying to do was give it a dry sift like appearance because he liked dry sift so much but couldn't make it that he was trying to make his water hash look like it.
SpeakerBut my microplaning definitely doesn't come out like that at all. I suck at microplaning. I hate it too. I'm not good at microplaning. You're not the only one, bro. I really do have a nightmare with it. I'm going to work on it, conditions, because I think the conditions are very important that you're in. You're getting the temperatures low around you. But as far as microplaning, for me, I've had a nightmare with it.
SpeakerIt's not my favorite thing to do. So you're not alone with that. I took recently I bought a microplane so that I can just have it in the tool bag just in case that moment comes up where something's a little too much to go through. Yes, I've got one in my arsenal now. I might play with it a little bit because I really like the way it works.
SpeakerI don't know. I definitely prefer the sieved as well. You've got to think really cold. After seeing the Tricom Heavy Extract guys, it makes me want to be able to do it. Yeah. You just got to be really cold. There are people that are good at it, bro. So I ran some fresh frozen form cut cookies mixed with fresh frozen Tahoe OG. I did the first sieve.
SpeakerHold on. I did the first sieve. And after like about three, four hours, I vacuum dried all my hash at about 50 degrees, right? It started to almost like make like a flat patty like it had greased up. I froze it for about two minutes. I took it out of the vac, froze it for two, three minutes and tried to sieve it but I ended up with some chunks because they had greased up and I was forced to microplane at that point.
SpeakerSieving works really good for me on dried and cured material because I don't suffer from that greasing in the vac. It's the fresh frozen ones that really do take that work. Yeah, bro. The most upsetting thing I see is time and time again I see people coming with fresh frozen runs that have amazing potential, but they've just not let that water get out, and then it's got that horrible little stagnant kind of water smell to it, and although...
SpeakerIf they get you quick and it's smelling good but they give you a little sample that you take away for a few days and then slowly that water starts to stagnate and then you start to notice the issues with it. And yeah, it's good to do fresh frozen if you can dial it in right and you can get it dried properly but if not, it's something that people really need to consider doing smaller amounts until they perfect and not ruin a whole run because until you do get it broken up and dried right and in the right amount of time, you're risking fucking things up.
SpeakerSo check this out.
BubblemanSorry, if it's not powder, I want it to be as hard as a rock. I want hash that's greased into a little ball like that. This is as hard as a rock, and it just rakes and shatters, and that's because it's been dried properly.
SpeakerSo I've played around a lot with hash. I used to just smoke it also. I've done a lot of different experiments. I started Making hash, drying it, right? And then running it through dry sieve screens to see if I could separate the resin glands again on very sandy strains like my haze that don't grease, you know what I mean, that stay tough. When I microplaned my hash, I figured out when I ran my 90, it was like going through almost my 196.
SpeakerAnd I'm like, man, why in the hell are these bigger heads that I caught in this bag? Yeah, why are they going through my sieve, man? I don't understand. So I started theorizing that the microplane was like shredding my heads. So I started sieving a lot more. I photographed it.
BubblemanIf you've seen my photographs, you can clearly see the shredded heads from microplane versus the intact heads from sieve.
SpeakerOh, yeah. When I sieved my hash the next run for the experiment, to do it properly, I did a 160 down to a 45, right? And after it dried in the vac, after sieving and everything, I broke it down into a powder. I ran it through my 86, my 125, and I have a 180-something and a 196, and I was able to actually separate the resin in qualities and make it, like, Thank you for watching.
SpeakerYou know what I mean? So the sieve is definitely...
BubblemanI wouldn't pick them out of bed for eating crackers, I'll tell you that much. I'll smoke them all day long, but I prefer sieving as well. And I would only add that when he says the 196, he's talking about a 70 micron screen for those of you that think he's talking in micron, he's talking in mesh count, lines per inch. I don't think that could be argued that it preserves because it's definitely preserved.
SpeakerI haven't made bubble hash since I've been sifting. I don't think that's real money for me for a while. So if you think about fresh frozen versus drying out your plant before you dry sift it, those terpenes are alive. They're kept in a frozen fresh state. And so when you're talking about seeing it go dry and then seeing it go greasy later or caking out later, That's because those terpenes are still alive, they're still moving through their position.
SpeakerSometimes they're attracting water, sometimes they're pushing, but they're volatile, and they're leaving the material, or they're still there. I want to see... Go ahead. Oh, sorry, cut out on me. I want to see Cuban sips some fresh frozen, or not fresh frozen, fresh freeze-dried nuggets. Yeah. That would be dope. I was experimenting with keefing fresh frozen, then vacuum drying that dirty keef and then refining it to 99 and curing that keef.
SpeakerAnd I was calling it live sift and it was coming out with similar terpene profiles to what... What a fresh frozen water hash run would give me. It was like curing and drying the resin without the plant matter in it. And it was pretty good. I wasn't able to cure it that long because I'm a hash head. I would smoke it or share it with friends because it was very interesting.
SpeakerIt was giving me cool colors on the resin as it was drying.
SpeakerBut definitely love fresh resin, man. Yeah, no, that haze that we smoked. That was super good. I mean, the fresh frozen stuff. But just taking the nugs and freeze drying them right away, they'll be crispy and dry, but the resin has actually been preserved, I'm assuming. I have no idea. I'd just be interested to see.
SpeakerI'll freeze dry some nugs and I'll bring them over. So I saw the Harvest Rite freeze dryer. I thought that was cool. I was trying, I know that it works on a process where it gets cold and then it goes up 20 degrees and back down and it kind of like the water leaves the hash in a frozen state, right, as gas or whatever. I was thinking of trying to convert a chest freezer into like a vacuum chamber to see about vacuum drying at those cold, cold temperatures but without spending $5,000 on a harvest, right, you know what I mean?
SpeakerYeah, no, I feel you. I think that's great. But I'm afraid of the chest freezer crumpling on itself. I will. Yeah, new shit. Yeah, you're talking about pulling a vacuum in the actual freezer. Yeah. Can you imagine like taking the lid off a chest freezer and putting like a giant plexiglass top on it, making racks in it and like just drying your hash in frozen temps? But I don't think that thin sheet metal is going to survive a hardcore vac.
SpeakerNo, but I thought you meant just put a chamber inside of there, right? I want to build, I want to build some sort of like a plexiglass box because the only reason I use a vacuum oven is because I can pull a vacuum on it. It's not even plugged into the wall so it's an expensive chamber. I want to build a bigger chamber. Do you have one of those old pot pullers for VHO like the pre-vacuum oven where it's like a clear plexiglass lid on top of a pot or whatever?
SpeakerNo, I don't have any of those. I bet you there's someone around there that's got one. Man, ask around. Yeah, and build kind of like a linked set of those things. I don't know. I'll see. I'm going to experiment. I definitely enjoy vacuum drying my hash because I can't air dry in the same quality that I can vacuum dry. Do you know what we did the other day?
SpeakerWe had some flowers that weren't quite as bone dry as we wanted them to be. And, well, we wanted to try them right away. So what we did was we stuck them in the cryo-freezer and then broke them down straight out of the cryo-freezer real fast and sifted it like that and got the tri-ox off the material like that. And we were real happy with the way that worked.
SpeakerIn small little batches, just straight out of the cryo-freezer, broken up, super, super brittle. Able to be cleaned real well, and I think that's a lot to do with the fact that we've got such good yield. Yeah, I agree. Vacuum, I mean, this five-star has been sitting out for the last week on my table in my house, and it's, you know, that was from the fridge dryer.
SpeakerYeah, that resin profile right there is unique in the sense that it's very dry. It's almost like the silver haze it does in grease. From my experience, resin like that, Has the longest shelf life. But there's two different strains. I have two jars just like this. I can go grab the other one. They're both like that. And when we made bubble with them regular, they were super greasy.
SpeakerSo I don't know, man. And I can still put this in a parchment paper and press it out, and it's a patty. So, you know, I'm not claiming that I know anything here. I'm just claiming that we're seeing interesting results, right?
AaronI want to smoke your hash.
SpeakerIs that with your cryo freezer, Fletch? No, it's just a freeze dryer. It's the Harvest Right freeze dryer. Okay, and how did you hear about that? I had just thought about freeze drying, I think like everybody else had for years, and I was looking it up on Google, and I came across one that was $3,800, and we've been looking at it for months just like, ugh. Should we buy it?
SpeakerShould we buy it? And we just finally bought it, and he threw down on it, and he's running it, and he, you know, for him, he's got a big enough setup where he's making enough bubble and doing it for a couple of our friends that he just didn't, he doesn't like micro-playing, he doesn't like sieving, he doesn't want to have to buy racks and shit, I was like, dude, Let's just take the risk and see if this shit works.
SpeakerIf it doesn't, we'll make fucking food out of it or something. We'll freeze dry apples and shit and make snowmobiling snacks. Thank you for trying it from everyone. I'll grab the other jar. Hold on a second. I remember asking Bubble Man, Mark, remember when I asked you about dry sifting, fresh frozen? You were like, absolutely not.
BubblemanNot the way I do it. I mean, I never. So how do you do a fresh frozen dry sift?
SpeakerYou have to think outside the box with it. Because you definitely can't dry sift the shit when it's fresh frozen because it gets so gooey. The most I've ever done. Man, I did one gram. Freeze dry it. Yeah. Yes. Freeze dry it.
BubblemanSo do you think freeze drying is better and more secure than just allowing it to dry itself?
SpeakerI have no idea. I'm interested in seeing a side-by-side on the same stuff.
BubblemanHere's the thing. Freeze dry some bud and smoke it and tell me if it's enjoyable.
SpeakerYeah. Like I said, I don't claim to know anything. Do you get that freeze-dried taste or how do you avoid that? I have no idea. It might be super green. Yeah. In Fletcher's defense though, timing is everything. If you could time it during the cure process, when you wanted to have that flavor come through, you could do it in a fresh cure, then freeze dry. Dr. Yeah.
SpeakerBut it may over-dry it as well. I have no, you know, or like Tony's saying, wait for like a five-day dry, then freeze dry it, then sift it. I mean, there's a million things you could do. Dr. Yeah. We'll see you next time.
BubblemanNice and powdery for sure.
SpeakerI think we all need one of these machines. And this is a different strain than the other one. And I mean, they're not exactly like dry strains. And I'm not saying this is necessarily the best. I mean, we're still tweaking it. You know, under a microscope, it looked like some of these may have been, are like maybe a little bit buttered or something from the freeze drying process.
SpeakerI'm not positive. The turf's still alive inside there. Yeah, it smells great, and it tastes good. So I'm kind of on the fence, and it may just be that processing. We needed to put like a tinfoil cover on it. Maybe we need to modify the heating elements to be a softer heating process, and we could probably talk to the manufacturer about that. We're still in just Discovering it and playing with it, you know.
SpeakerThe fun stage. We're at the fun stage. Yeah. If anybody's got ideas, anybody's got ideas, call us, you know, and we'll try it. What would happen if you tried to freeze dry, like, fresh, straight turps? Like, that would be a good thing to determine what you're actually doing to those turps while you're freeze drying them is just hit the straight turps and see what it does to those, you know.
SpeakerSo I've been playing around with that and using that for some other things too, the same technique. I think you just need to dial it in and you eventually will dial it in to what you like and you can dial that strain in and that resin. It could be used for a lot of different things, and it's used for different things even today with foods. Yeah, it's used in the lab a lot for a lot of stuff too.
SpeakerYeah, so it's definitely a very good technique, and it's also be interesting to see what would happen to a liquid state of herbs in a freeze application like that. It could turn to like a powder, I don't know, but I dropped like a vial yesterday of some sourdough in my kitchen. It was bad.
BubblemanIt was good, bad?
SpeakerIt was good, bad, but it was just like boom! And I was like, oh my God. And everything like just shattered everywhere and it was just turps everywhere. I think we need to all take a bong rip to the rest in peace. That's what I was trying to tell you. I had a confession and it was not even on the other side. It was on the Terp side.
SpeakerIt was like after all those years of growing, trying to get to the Terps, got the Terps, put a Terp in a vial, keep it like a Holy Grail in the shelf, never touch it, let it breathe out for six months, go look at it. As you're looking at it, you just go... How horrible. Hey, guys.
AaronMark, do you know the film container that Sam Skunkman always has in Amsterdam?
SpeakerYeah.
AaronYou can fill the dry safe. I remember one year he went to Hemp Works and he decided that he was going to whatever, you know, everybody could smoke off it and Big Matt was there and he dropped the film container on the floor and all, can you imagine, like, his naive...
SpeakerThe vibe from the person who owned it was not cool. Yeah.
BubblemanDude, I can't even imagine, like, holy...
AaronThe dude that owns it already is a dick, you know what I'm saying? And publicly he's a dick, so it's all good. I love the guy, but he's still a dick. You know? And... I don't think he's a dick. He could be a dick sometimes, bro. Come on. Straight shooter Aaron.
SpeakerWe all have unique interactions.
AaronDude. Who's he calling a dick? Come on, the old man. The old man who makes better dry sift than all of us.
BubblemanDude, I know exactly who you're talking about, but I just... Back in the day when I first met him, I was a little bit afraid. I thought of him kind of like as a professor, in a sense. But if you've ever really gone to like... He reminds me of someone that just has such a vast and deep knowledge. It's like when I went to India and I'd sit around and I'd kind of like philosophize with these babas.
BubblemanAnd you know, you think you're pretty smart. You read all the latest books, and you studied university, and you're well-traveled, and you're talking to this dude who's only ever probably been in India. Yet, he speaks like 50 languages, and most of the things you say to him, he kind of like turns around on you, and you kind of start feeling almost like an idiot, because you're like, damn.
SpeakerI'll be honest with you, Mark. In the short conversations I've had with him, I've learned more than years of reading. No shit, dude. No. Wow shit. Wild depth of knowledge, but you're right, he doesn't suffer fools gladly, and I've seen him cut some people down in ways that made me cringe.
AaronDude, he, I'm his friend, he's been in my house, we broke bread, you know what I'm saying? And like, out of nowhere, he'd just be a dick, and it's like, why would you even want to say some stupid shit like that, you know? Hey, sometimes you guys... It's all good. I love the guy, bro. But, you know, sometimes you can be a dick.
BubblemanI love the guy, but I'm going to call him out in hash church. Call him a dick. Respect your others.
SpeakerYo, so, let me... I see them asking in the chat room. Yesterday, The Clear Concentrate posted a bunch of pictures of some hash that they made with salt water. They added salt into the water, and they're calling it the ice cream tech. And supposedly they're able to achieve lower temperatures without any freezing of the water. And I don't know what other benefits it has, but supposedly the end product has no salt at all because they rinse it.
SpeakerI don't know. Sometimes I feel like, I don't know, maybe they're bluffing. They're not really using salt water, but has anybody used salt water before? Here's the thing.
BubblemanYou've got a temperature of about four degrees. If you can get a four degree temperature... Just above zero, which is Celsius. I don't know what it is in Fahrenheit, but you can figure it out. It's only a few degrees over whatever your zero is considered. I always forget. I'm Canadian. We only have one road.
BubblemanAnyway, the temperature, the perfect temperature is cold, obviously not so frozen that glands are going to shatter. So right above zero is a perfect temperature. That's why I always wondered when people were like, oh, add dry ice and make it colder. Add salt and make it colder. It's like, why do you need to have it any colder than fucking cold? Give it a shot and let us know.
SpeakerI am very hesitant, man, to stick any salt in my water, bro.
BubblemanDon't use your best. Don't use your best.
SpeakerI feel like it may damage my bubble bags, bro, that I... Care for so much to like run salt through the mesh. I don't know if I want that. Salt will leave some sort of like residue, right? I can imagine. I don't know. I don't feel cool with it, but it looks like we made something decent. Think about how crazy people felt when they were doing like an iso wash on stuff though.
SpeakerYou know, anytime you wash it with anything, it's kind of iffy. So yeah, that would be interesting to see.
HoratioWe'll just put a nix on it from an ecological standpoint. I don't think I'm going to personally do it ever. Do you feel good pouring out a ton of salt water and then having to use even more water to rinse that salt out? Where does that all go? Into your lawn? Into your environment? That's what the clear concentrate does. They go against nature to make a buck.
HoratioOf course they're going to use salt and then rinse it and then just wash that salt into no man's land, but that's really wrong. We could never afford to use that as a viable technique. It makes the water poison. What's the point?
SpeakerWhat's the point of doing it? To make the water colder so that what? So that you get more yield? So for what?
BubblemanI would guess terpene preservation, right? That's the only thing that could possibly make sense to me, but how could you preserve more terps with just a few degrees of temperature as compared to something like You know, freeze drying or cryogenic extraction.
SpeakerWhat's it doing to the washer? What's it doing to the pump? You know what I mean? Where is that salt starting to cake up that you don't see it? Does it damage bags? I don't know. Why change something that isn't broke, man? Everybody makes excellent water house with just water and ice. I say the same thing over and over. Just grow better resin and grow more of it.
SpeakerWell, I mean, the only benefit I can think of We've tested our water, and it's like right around freezing.
SpeakerBro, this haze tastes like an IPA, like a beer.
BubblemanAlright, we're trying to get Soma in here. He's been trying to get in for the last hour. I think he's finally on a computer and he's in Jesse's account and hopefully I can send him the link right here. He's tried to come in three times and each time there's been an opening. Someone else has come in. It's been pretty funny. So let's see if we can get him in this time.
BubblemanSee if Soma makes it in. Boom. He was trying on his phone and getting sent to the empty room.
BubblemanWe got one spot open. We got 481 viewers. I think we had about 510 at our peak. So it's nice to see Hash Church is broadening its scope. Opening up to, oh there we go. Welcome Soma. Hey. Right on, brother. Hey, bro. Good to see you, man. Cash Church is complete. How's it going?
SpeakerGoing super good, dude. Let me get my volume up a little. That's better. Great to see you. Good to see you, bro. I'm in the UK at the moment visiting some family. I'll be back this week to catch up. Been missing you. Nice. Hi, Sola. Hi, who's that? Tell your lovely wife I said hello, Jendo. I met you all in Amsterdam with my Uncle Jake.
BubblemanNice. Yeah, Hatch Church Sunday you guys were there.
SpeakerYep, and I keep in touch with your wife on Facebook.
BubblemanCool, nice.
SpeakerYes.
BubblemanYes, and who else, Soma? We have my friend Horatio in the house who makes the delimiting extracts and is a man of many hats, so I want you to meet him. As well as True, Phil, right, I don't know if he's next to the box, but he's another friend of mine who uses cannabis medicinally. They both use it for similar reasons, actually. We've got Fletcher in from Archive Seed Bank.
BubblemanHe was over at your house as well, I'm certain, at one point.
SpeakerMy snake is on my neck. Oh, nice. It's not a dread, it's your snake. I got my dreads around my neck, too, but... When I do that and the snake's there, I forget the snake is there, and then all of a sudden I touch it and I remember.
BubblemanWell, if we hadn't offended the Christians before using the name church, now we've invited the old bearded guru guy with the snake around his neck. So there, Christians. I got some really nice hash here.
SpeakerToo bad Drew isn't here because can you see that? Oh, wait. Can you see that? Oh, it's too bright.
BubblemanHey, I want to finish the introduction.
SpeakerI can see it.
BubblemanOh, yeah, that's nice. Right there. I'll take that one square closest to the edge next to the tiny little square.
SpeakerThat's like 77 screen amnesia haze. Oh, seven square. Nice, nice. Very nice.
BubblemanSo also I want you to meet Cuban grower Soma. He's a young and up-and-coming killer grower that makes amazing resin in a variety of ways. We'll sit and I'll puff one day soon, I'm sure.
SpeakerWhat's up, Soma? I wish I would have met you last year, man. I wanted to go to Amsterdam, but this year I'm going to go there, dude, and I would love to puff on some dry sieve with you. I'm pretty easy to meet. Yeah. I'll just wipe out the hash, you know what I'm saying, and I'm sure we'll be friends, man. Yeah. Hell yeah. That's the way it works in this industry, man.
SpeakerPut out a good one, and moms are happy. So Tony, Tony, where's Tony? Tony's in the house. Yeah, how you doing, Tony? I'm good. How you doing, Soma? Glad to have you. We have to travel around a lot. Yeah. I don't know how you can do that and do what you do there. Oh. Sometimes you have to figure that out, and I think it's been a good year of transitioning into figuring that out, you know?
SpeakerCool.
AaronWell, good to see you.
SpeakerThanks.
AaronYou too. Good to see you do your stuff. Tony flies around in a private jet, so...
SpeakerHe picks things up. He doesn't have to worry about queuing up. No, that's not true. Aaron, how do you...
AaronHe rolls with the right crew. Ha, ha, ha, ha. How's it going?
SpeakerIt's going good. How's it at home? How's everything? Nice. I was walking in Vondelpark with my kid today, Jesse. A little chilly though, but sunny.
BubblemanVondelpark. That's a good park to visit if you've never been to Amsterdam and you're going there and you're trying to visit all these different coffee shops. I'd say hit Vondelpark once you get yourself some herb or some hash.
SpeakerNice to smoke a spliff, man.
BubblemanYeah, really. And it's an amazing park. It's really nice. To just sort of see unique things.
SpeakerPeople watching. It's an amazing sociology experiment. You just see the most crazy things go down. I love it. Totally, dude. I was trying to figure out what you were rubbing. I thought you were rubbing your chest and I had to zoom in a little closer. My snakes. You know, it's a little bit wilderness in Amsterdam, you know. Yeah. Yeah. I've got 14 cats around me at the same time, so that's tricky.
SpeakerDoes that snake ever try to eat a cat? No, they don't. They're both like mice. The cats and rats don't get on, but the snake... They don't like the same food. That's for sure.
BubblemanThey hunt together. That's it. They go crew.
SpeakerThe cat identifies where the little mouse is, and the snake comes along and just eats it. Dude, I personally, I personally. Is anybody smoking on this thing?
BubblemanI got to light up. You light us up, man. We're going to blow smoke in Rob's honor towards the Vatican. He does it every Sunday wherever he is. He's been doing it for frigging 30 years or more. I'm dry toking because I'm in my mom's front room. I can see it. All right. You got your little ruler pipe out? What am I going to pull out? Some, I guess, a great gardener.
SpeakerAll right. I learned recently the only thing I can get away with doing to my parents' house is dab tangy because my mom doesn't recognize the oranges.
BubblemanCBD Rene here.
SpeakerYou're bubbling.
AaronYeah, Mom, I had really stinky farts so I had to spray this, you know.
SpeakerLook at her face. I see her looking and she couldn't quite figure out what was happening and then she just said nothing and I knew if she smelled an inch of like a tiny bit she would have gone off on me, so. If you want to smoke tangy and not get recognized as having a cannabis smell, that is the one. I'm still smoking that tangy. I'm not quite finished with it yet, you know?
AaronWhen we went to Uruguay, we had some tangy. This was years ago, and we were on the Bukibus, which is a ferry that goes between Argentina and Uruguay, and We were on it. We were in, like, the cabin, because you don't want to be outside. It's cold. It's nighttime. And we dabbed it up on the ferry. And nobody, like, the security guard came out from above, but nobody knew what it was exactly, you know?
AaronAll they could do is smell this weird citrus scent, you know? And we pulled it off. Because we're in the third world, you know, you're... You're kind of not where you want to go to jail.
SpeakerYeah, for real.
AaronEspecially like Argentina, dude. They'll like throw you into a town. Here's jail. Defend yourself. It'll never come to you again.
BubblemanThat's when you pull out that tangy nugget and everything is okay. Ah, yes.
SpeakerHe used to burn this white sage that I got in Southern California. My dad used to come stomping in, who's smoking weed? And I was like, dad, I'm burning sage. And every time I would smoke weed, he'd come stomping in and be like, put that sage out. And I'd be like, okay. That's awesome. I'm cleaning the room. I'm smudging. A tangy monocrop probably smells like a citrus, huh, from Florida?
AaronOh, dude, it's better than that, bro. I think it smells much more than any of the citrus crops, you know, because I think just the way it is, like if you have to really smell a tangerine, but like if wind's blowing over, I don't know, dude, if you're at the right spot at the right moment outdoors, A whole field. It just smells like you're, yeah, it probably smells like an orchard, bro.
AaronThat's what I would expect.
SpeakerYou know?
AaronIt smells great.
SpeakerYeah, no smell complaints with that one, huh?
BubblemanI'll never forget in 2001 in Switzerland walking through, it must have been close to an acre under glass or more, and it was Shanti Baba's place, and it was all calio, six foot plus tall plants, just in the last week of blooms. And I was with Bushy Older Grower and Gypsy Nirvana, as well as Shanti Baba. And man, walking through that, we were just like, it was just that super strong, fruity, orange rank.
BubblemanIt was unbelievable, that many of them. There were just hundreds of them. I actually have photos of them on my Facebook page. That place was in Bellinzona. I'm not sure if you ever went and visited that spot, Soma, but it was... It really was quite a spot, I have to say.
SpeakerI think I may well have smoked quite a few things out in the UK around those years, because there was definitely some fire coming out of Switzerland.
BubblemanWell, you know what? I remember Scott, and Scott and myself and Breeders Steve, all of our wives had just given birth that year. We all had daughters. And so I was like, I knew Steve really well. I didn't know Scott very well, but Gypsy knew Scott, and I was kind of going there through him, and When I saw Scott, I said, oh man, you know, I'm over in Ticino.
BubblemanIt's just a little ways away. You should come and hang with me and Steve sometime and get our wives together. And he was kind of like, oh, you know, Steve, that guy's a heat score. And I was like, oh shit, okay, I didn't realize he was a heat score. And so I went back to tell Steve, you know, shit, Scott really doesn't want to hang out with you because you're a heat score.
BubblemanAnd I mean, I understood where Scott was coming from. All these new people were coming to Switzerland, and they were just getting busted one after another, and most people weren't really doing it well. And I think he might have assumed Steve was that. But then I'm telling Steve, hey, Steve, you know, Scott thinks you're a heat score. And then Steve's like, oh, that's Scott there. And I look on the TV, and it's like the Italian news or whatever, or the Swiss news, but in Italian because it's down south.
BubblemanThey're all like doing an interview with him. He's in a silo with a mountain full of weed next to him. The biggest fucking mountain of weed I've ever seen. I couldn't believe that he went on TV next to this thing. It was literally like months before he was busted and arrested and jailed. So it was a pretty weird experience to be telling Steve, dude, Scott thinks you're a heat scorer.
BubblemanAnd Steve's like, dude, he's standing next to a mountain on TV right now. That's a mountain of bud. A fucking train that goes through his silo. Anyway, Steve ended up leaving Switzerland without any charges. He moved to Malaga, got into the orchard thing, was growing grapes and olives, and then now has moved into Kelowna for quite a while now, has a really nice winery there that you can go and support if wine's your thing.
BubblemanIt's called Rolling Dale. It's Breeders Steve. You can buy some of his famous ice wine that's called Sweet Tooth. He won quite a few awards with it. Woo, sweet. Sweet tooth. And I miss Steve, you know. Steve was always a quality guy. He always had the quality resin, like I just thought. Working with those aquaponics, too, back then. I was talking about that earlier, Soma. We were calling it guppy-ponics.
BubblemanBut yeah, it was aquaponics that he was using fish to feed.
SpeakerYou know, I grabbed that picture of Chris Iverson, Woody, off your page. Oh, yeah. You know, just because it really touched me when I saw it. Yeah, no doubt. I remember that's how I met Woody. That's how I became friends with him. Oh, yeah.
BubblemanI thought Woody was looking for a chess game in Amsterdam one day and got bumped into... Well, he was. He was.
SpeakerBut Chris Iverson had told him about me.
BubblemanOh, okay, okay, yeah. I figured it wouldn't take Woody very long to link up with you in Amsterdam. Yeah. That's cool. Good times. In the cannabis community.
SpeakerJeez, it's been a long time running here, Soma.
BubblemanJeez, what was your first cup, 94? My first cup was 94, 20 years ago, yeah. Jeez, it's 21, buddy. You blinked. Another year went by.
SpeakerOh, I got it wrong. It didn't happen yet. 94, I think that was the year I first smoked. Nice.
Bubbleman95, those were some early cops at the PAX Party House. They were packing us in up on the second and third floor there. I just drove past there the other day and I thought about it, you know. It was unbelievable, man. Like the first cannabis cup you go to, right, and you show up at the PAX Party House and you're like, this can't be the place. It's all cop cars and those are all cops standing out front.
BubblemanAnd then you kind of get past all the cops and you're like, no, wait a minute. There's another line right here.
SpeakerRight next to the police station, no problem.
BubblemanI'm just smoking. People are breaking buds up on the hood of the car. I'm just like, what the hell?
SpeakerI'm excited because of that, too, because we were doing it in front of the cops, man. It was really cool. 20 years ago.
BubblemanYeah, they were cool. They never had a negative presence. They never had a presence that, they had the presence of exactly what they were supposed to have the presence of. No presence at all. Just ignore us. We're good to go. We're not criminals. We're peacekeepers. What shifted?
SpeakerWhat shifted? Well, politics. Politics and fear. There's a lot of fear. Fear is like a religion these days around the planet. You know what I mean? The thing is that fear is no religion. It's a pretty weak religion if you pick that as a religion because no power in it really. It just seems like there's power in it.
BubblemanThat's a bummer for sure to see the shift. It's almost as though the rest of the world was only able to do what we're doing by like Taking it from Amsterdam, it's like, well, Amsterdam, you've had it for all these years, you want the rest of the world to change, now give out your coolness to the rest of the world so they can slowly become cool. But shit, I never thought Amsterdam would turn the way it's...
SpeakerIt will change again. The politics will change again. It will. Of course. It won't stay like this. Of course. It will change in waves, in frequencies, in flavors, you know what I mean? Like, this flavor will change soon, and it will get heavier. And we're green and better again because it's just a certain period we're in right now where there's so much fear mongering. You know, we're in a situation where it seems like just before big change that the people in power like to do as much damage and spite as they can and it seems like somewhere like Amsterdam where they see it happening around the rest of the world, the people that don't like it are trying to stop it while they can because they know they're losing grip of that power and it's only a matter of time before it is legal everywhere and most recently I've noticed in the UK where like Almost a dozen friends in different industries and different jobs.
SpeakerAll of a sudden, they started coming up and implementing drug testing at work. And I know it's because they want to try and get us out of their jobs before they have no choice and before it is allowed to be medical and legal and we are allowed to exist in society and not be ashamed of it. And I get a feeling like they almost know that's coming and they're trying to disrupt people and cause as much problems as they can to people who do smoke and have been in jobs for long times and are happy with what they're doing and they think, oh, we don't want these people part of our society because it's coming and they see it on the horizon.
SpeakerThey're trying to do horrible things now and Yeah, we just have to ride it through and make people aware that the change is coming and that it's not something we're ashamed of anymore and that we are standing up and being proud and we have got the facts now. We're not just talking like hippies. Oh, not facts. We're talking about facts. The more people like us bring the facts to the surface, nothing can fight facts.
SpeakerFacts, like, fight for themselves. Yep, that's it. We're going through something like that locally here in the state of Washington. We had a great medical program and ever since the recreational came out, the Liquor Control Board is trying to really take away the medical patient's rights. So one bill they're trying to pass is a Liquor Control Board police force. That enforces the medical laws. So if you have like over 45 plants or whatever weight count, they take it from you.
SpeakerAnd they're going to be like going into patients' houses. They tried to reduce plant counts down to almost six. They're trying to like annihilate the medical program almost completely.
PhilThey're trying to do that here in Canada. The same thing happened the other day. We're in court for our licenses as well. And the crown for the lawyer for Health Canada said that They wanted to give us five plants, a five plant count. Some of us have several hundred, and they wanted to bring us down to five. They're trying to completely abolish the program, bring in federal production facilities, and completely get rid of private growing.
PhilSo we're on the fence as well with that. It's happening right now.
BubblemanI say let's do both. We need both. We need LPs because homegrowns can't grow enough medicine for all of Canada's needs. You can maybe grow maybe enough for a buddy.
SpeakerI think that we're going to need a currency change before things really happen. No, I'm serious. I think it's going to happen soon, sooner than everybody realizes. It's going to be a currency reset around the world, a global currency reset. And when that takes place, all these laws will change for the better. All this will change for the better. Yeah, we all grow really big, big plants up here because of that plant count rate.
SpeakerIf you're going to tell me I can grow 10, I'm going to show you I can pull as much off those as possible. Yes, so they were trying to do something like that here. They were setting a plant limit of like three, but then check this one out. If you outputted more than three ounces per plant, you're breaking the law. So I put down like two plus pounds per plant, right?
SpeakerI'd go to jail just because I grew. Because I'm a good grower, I'm violating the law and it's going to get enforced. So it's crazy laws like that, man, that they try to pass under the table, and most of the citizens here in the state of Washington don't really know what's going on. They're just happy that they could go inside a shop and buy a $20, $30 gram without a medical rec, but they don't know what's really happening.
SpeakerThere's a couple of groups up there that go up to the Capitol all the time and advocate, though, and they keep people up to date with all sorts of stuff. So at least there are some strong presences up in Washington that are keeping an eye on that stuff. Yeah, yeah. There's a guy that, Steve Sarich in Washington is one of the people that really advocate for medical.
SpeakerWe got away this year. We barely saved the medical program last year from what I understand. It was pretty hectic. And the same thing is going on this year. It's like a year-to-year basis. Last year was really ugly. There was a lot of people out there fighting though. I had the opportunity to go sit in with one of the legislature meetings and I don't know all of the politics stuff.
SpeakerI just follow it and get filled in. But yeah, I got to go up there and tell my story and fight for it. And there was a lot of people there that were really passionate. It's really inspiring. Washington has opened my eyes to new things like It's amazing to see that people can actually go up and there is a forum that they can stand in. They can voice their opinions and how it's going to affect them.
SpeakerComing from Utah, we don't have that freedom. So it's really amazing how they do deal with things up there. But yeah, Washington keeps us throwing weird things left and right. Horrible.
SpeakerWe got to get these laws going forward and not backwards. I come from a place that, you know, one to 99 plants, it doesn't matter, you go to prison. I moved out here to not get locked up and they're trying to take those rights away from me. You know, I don't want to move all the time. But yeah, man, I feel for everybody that has, like, a tax on the rights to grow and produce and partake in cannabis.
SpeakerNobody should get locked up for that. I don't know.
BubblemanNo, that's for sure.
SpeakerAnd there's a whole lot of time. Let's give a shout out to Free Delay Seekers. The homie Rick, his dad as everyone knows is locked up for 98 years prison in Florida for what in essence was a conspiracy to smuggle charge where his best friend turned on him and fucked him over with a DEA. So you can imagine what kind of situation that is. So to put him in prison for a conspiracy to smuggle cannabis charge for 98 years is insane.
SpeakerIf everyone goes on to... Freedelacy.com, D-E-L-I-S-I. They can sign up the petition and hopefully we can do something about this because as sad as it is for us to fight, Go into prison. There's people in there that shouldn't be there and we really need to think about those two and raise some awareness because we're quite a powerful unit as an industry and with enough attention maybe we can make a difference.
BubblemanAbsolutely. There's 510 people watching right now live and I'd hope that a lot of you will go and do that simple thing. It's kind of the least you can do for someone sitting in prison for 98 years who's already served 26 or 27 years. We've watched murderers and rapists and all sorts of criminal come and go while he's still... During the time he's lost a son to suicide, there's been so many issues, you know.
SpeakerThey're associated to how this breaks up a family and... The idea that we could get that man out and let him see his grandchildren and spend time with his family, introduce him to Dabs, show him how the industry's changed, that would be awesome. So, yeah, maybe one day we'd be on Hash Church with him and he'd be telling us about what it was like to go through that and celebrate with us and enjoy freedom.
BubblemanIt'd be pretty amazing, you know. It's the least you guys can do. Give it a check, see, and... Welcome D420K who's no longer at his seat but I saw him come in. Aaron's also not at his seat but how about asking Soma what is going on in the world of Soma Seeds? You working on some new things lately these days or what's going on?
SpeakerI got a nice lavender kush and I got some nice cheese kush crosses. Oh really? Yeah. I'm really excited about that lavender kush.
PhilI was about to say your lavender is beautiful, Soma. That just tickles me.
SpeakerLavender crossed with the kush. I got this amazing OG kush. Oh, the kush is beautiful. The kush is beautiful. You can attest to that. One of the best kushes we've run. True made some extract for me off my roof plants. Insane. One of the best runs we've had. It's my favorite one I smoke these days still. It's just I can't believe it came off my roof. Thank you.
SpeakerWe struggle to preserve a lot of the muskier turps. When it comes to the real cushy, meaty, musky turps, a lot of the cushies, we struggle to preserve those, and they were so aggressive with that that they came through in the extract, and there was a lot more to it than you get off of the cushies. Normally, they're a lot sweeter, but this held that earthy, musky, real cush flavor to it.
SpeakerI think the sun must have helped. I made this new cross, too. I took the Soguta, and I crossed it with the OG Cush. And I got that mother going now and soon it'll surface. What's that like? Oh, man. Of course, I love the Soguta. I won second prize for it in Irun, Spain last year. And I love this OG Kush. Everybody I show it to thinks it's just right, you know.
SpeakerAnd out here in Amsterdam before it's too late, you know. And so does the Soguta finish pretty fast. And I like both those flavors so much. I can't really tell you what the finished plant is like yet, because I only tasted one small outdoor plant, and that gave me a hint, but I've got to grow it indoors now and see. Based off the parentage, I'm excited to get some.
SpeakerI mean, you saw both of them. Yeah, we've seen it all. We've rubbed them, played with them, seen them outside growing, looked at the church through growth. So now I can't wait, bro, honestly. The Gouda, well, I know. I know by what you've always got held back, and it's always the Gouda and the Kush. So I know now we're going to have those two together. It's going to be an exciting one.
SpeakerYes, for sure.
SpeakerYeah. There's a few other flavors, everyone. Anything with the New York City Diesel, we love as well. Yeah, I love the Somari. I'm so worried. That was a beauty. There's another one. That one I liked it because it gave the undertones of the New York City Dizzle. It gave a lot, like Aaron was saying earlier, some of the outcrosses bring out a whole different range of fruits, and that one kind of did that.
SpeakerIt was more softer, pastel kind of fruit flavors with the little hint of the citrus.
PhilPastel is worth it.
SpeakerDefinitely a favorite of mine. And the lavender, man, lavender crisp, like nowhere interesting to run that. That one's just crazy. Lavender extract I want to see. I never saw it. No, me neither. Me neither. It's got to be very unique. The strain stands out as a very unique tear profile, so it'd be interesting to see how concentrated what falls off and what stands out.
PhilI've washed the lavender a few times a couple years ago and it's just absolutely beautiful. It's like a bouquet of flowers.
SpeakerI love it.
PhilI really do. It's insane. Yeah. It definitely dances on the palate and lingers and very aromatic, very chirpy, very lovely. A pleasure to grow and smoke and wash.
BubblemanHe's taking my glasses off.
PhilOh, how we love the aromatic intoxicants.
BubblemanIntoxicants.
PhilAnd reptiles. Look at that. Growers and breeders got to have reptiles. That's just the way it is.
BubblemanYeah, I'm surprised Monty's not on the screen with you.
PhilI know. I'm at Sasha's house and he asks politely if I leave Monty at the house. Don't bring him in the grow room. Just leave him at home, you know.
SpeakerWhat kind of snake do you got?
PhilI have a bearded dragon.
SpeakerAwesome. I used to own a boa constrictor when I was younger, so I've been a snake owner too. I love snakes. I've had all sorts of snakes. You know what's my favorite? I really like the really colorful corn snakes. Like the first snake that I ever legitimately owned was a corn snake that was like the orange creamsicle color, and so it was like this flaming orange and red and white.
SpeakerThey don't get very big though. I like the really big ones. They're mellow. My boa constrictor was about 10 foot by time. It was fully grown. I was like 10 at the time, so I'd go out with him wrapped around me. On the streets of London, go and see my friends, walk out with the boa constrictor wrapped around me. It was a beautiful red-tailed Amazonian boa. Stunning creature.
SpeakerMy mom still has pictures of me when I was like three years old with this little boa constrictor, just a little baby wrapped around me, and I'm just like, yay! I love snakes. They're amazing.
BubblemanThey might make a good pet, but they don't make good business partners. Especially those ones that hide in the grass.
BubblemanDang nablets. Look at all these different breeders that have been in the house today. It's really been the hash church of cannabis breeders with all of you guys. I guess we lost archive at one point, but there's still four of you guys in here.
PhilIt's nice to actually be on a panel with Soma and Aaron. I just want to take a second to say that.
SpeakerI haven't seen Aaron for a while, man. I haven't seen Aaron since the Cannabis Cup. I love hash church, and this is adult boarding. You know, Hash Church is a wonderful place. So many people come in to me about how much it means to them, getting ready, setting up for the weekend, and You know, they do their hash making, they take their cuttings, they try and do a little gardening while they're watching it.
SpeakerPeople really love it, man. So it's awesome that everyone takes out the time to do this for the community. Yeah. Hey, shout out to all the hash and cannabis fans, everybody that follows everybody on Instagram and on the YouTubes. I don't have a YouTube, but I love what I do because when I post pictures and stuff, My people show me so much love that it keeps me going, you know what I'm saying?
SpeakerAbsolutely. I've had so many people that have seen it and tell me, oh, I see you on Hash Church, and I'm like, yes, watch that shit. So many folks. Storm, are you going to be in Spain? Thank you for doing this. Is it thank you for doing this? Am I going to come to the States? You know, you're going to be in Spain. Spain, yeah, at Spanibus, yeah.
BubblemanWoohoo! We're all going to be together at Spanibus. Happy little two boys. Hey, are you flying into Madrid as well, Soma?
SpeakerNo.
BubblemanTony's just shaking his head at me. All right, Mark, all right.
BubblemanDid I miss a joke? No, he signed up with a real shitty website that basically changed the destination. How are you stretching weird, man? He's been saturating his endocannabinoid system for hours now.
SpeakerSo is he going to Madrid?
AaronYeah. Apparently that's where he was going. Not good.
SpeakerI've never been to Madrid yet. You're going to beat me, man. You're so excited. I'm going to take a little.
AaronI'm going to take his itinerary. And I called Tony. I'm like, where are you going? Are you going to? Where are you going, bro? I'm like, going to Madrid?
SpeakerBut wait, you were there last year. How'd you do that? I picked the right airport. It's just like a con website. You know what, Tony?
BubblemanI would suggest it is a con website.
SpeakerI get a lot of con things these days, man. I mean, look at the world. There's got to be so many con things. You can't count them. Look at the big banks. Look at the big banks. So from them down, it's all a big con job these days. We got to be super careful, huh?
AaronHey, I flew in. I had my wife go pick me up at one airport, but I flew into another. And I couldn't figure out where I flew into. And I'm following her up. I'm like, where are you at? She's like, I'm right here. She's like, I'm right here. I'm waiting for you, you know? And I'm like, well, I'm downstairs. I don't see you anywhere. She's like, there is no upstairs at Burbank.
AaronAnd I'm like... You know, I guess, where am I? They're like LAX. I was like, oh shit. Where am I? Where did I park my car?
SpeakerI can't sleep on airplanes because I'm terrified that they won't be able to wake me up and I'll wake up somewhere random. In the water? Yeah. Yeah. I don't mind the airplane so much as long as it's not lower than two hours, but I don't like the security. I don't like the security. It's just like what happened was it's like I picked a ticket, they switched it, they said they could get me the ticket I want, but they just sold out and it's twice as much as what you thought it was.
SpeakerDo you know that Madrid is pretty far away from Barcelona? Yeah, like 400 miles. Like...
AaronLike seven hours in a car.
SpeakerSeven hours, yeah, it's 12 by moped. Don't take a car, don't go by car. It's 12 by moped.
BubblemanWell, there's two ways. You can go one way is about six and a half hours, but the other way is over seven hours.
SpeakerYeah, what would happen is if I flew to Madrid, I'd rent a little moped. 20 hours.
Speaker20 hours traveling there, 12 hours on moped, say hello to you on Saturday, and then get back on the moped.
BubblemanI'm telling you, change the ticket, change the ticket quick. Hey, listen guys, here's something that I'll tell you. For Spain, I've been talking to Todd McCormick about this, potentially getting Ben's permission to film a hash church at his hemp museum in Barcelona. I'm in, I'm in. Exactly, so Soma knows, he's in. We'll try to get a group of people in there for an epic hash church if it's happening.
SpeakerEven if it doesn't happen, we'll head somewhere else, but I'm pretty sure Todd's going to make it happen.
BubblemanYeah, exactly. We'll put the word out to them, and we'll just all be responsible or whatever for everyone. We'll try to invite a small group of people in to do the hash church live from there.
SpeakerOn the subject of the Hemp Museum, I heard some wonderful things recently about how they were helping the gentleman from Argentina who does some incredible things for the children and CBD medicine out there. And they had actually sponsored him to travel and learn and take information back to Argentina. And it was just incredible to hear that. I didn't smoke nothing. Oh, no, I did, I did. I saw you take a dab before I did.
SpeakerSo yeah, it's been awesome to hear that positive things being done by the Hen Museum and Ben Drunkers. They're not just kind of sitting there putting on a show. They're making a difference behind the scenes.
BubblemanOh yeah, Ben's a true cannabis warrior. There's no doubt about it.
SpeakerIt's some amazing work going on, and not so vocal about it, too. He's the kind of gentleman that does things very much behind the scenes and puts in the work, and eventually people kind of hear little bits, and he's very much about what's being done rather than vocal. In my snake cage, I got the hemp flax from Ben in the bottom of my snake cage. That's what the snake lives on, you know?
SpeakerNice, the hemp flax. He grows hemp.
AaronSo there's, he has, he, I mean, Ben grows, he has hemp farms. Yeah, I know. I know. I mean, like, think about all the byproduct Ben has. I mean, Ben has all the byproduct, and I'm sure a lot of this hemp that he's growing is his CBD hemp. So, of course, he can sit there and, excuse me, he can do anything he wants right now, bro, with that hemp CBD.
AaronNow, is that hemp CBD the same as our cannabis varieties? You know?
SpeakerNah. You know? I'm curious to find out. I'd like to get some and play with it, that's for sure. It looks like a very rough extraction, a very crude extraction to begin with, but I'm sure that... You have to look at it as an industrial byproduct versus something that's captured while the plant is in its alive state, you know, or fresh state, or cured state.
BubblemanYep. On a smaller level, I just thought of, you know, Thinking of the same sort of like metaphor to a smaller version of something I was just doing to make my own consumables back when I started making coconut oil, I was like, oh, I could use all my material that I already ran through the bubble bags. And then I'm looking at it and I'm like, oh, but this is all like all the best resins been taken.
BubblemanLike, do I really want like the seconds or thirds or even fourths to be what I consider medicine? Or do I want to take the best that I have, like 99% barbed heads and some pure bubble hash, And make my coconut oil extract out of that. Of course, I chose the latter. And then it became this sort of obsession like, oh, all the medicine you should make, it should be the best.
BubblemanEven though you want to save it always, there's always like, oh, but you can do this with this and this with this. And I'm all about juicing and all these other things. But generally, I want to use my best for any type of thing that I'm producing for myself or for anyone that I would call like they're using it as a medicine. I would want them to be getting the best.
SpeakerTrue. Yeah, man. To heal, you have to give the best fruits, the best resin, you know what I mean? You don't make healing medicine with trim. You use the best flowers, you know what I mean, to really put the love into it. Hey, have you guys ever, I don't know who likes bacon here or not, I'm just saying, but anyways, if you get 99% heads on some, and you infuse it, like let's say a gram of it in something that's Thank you so much for joining us.
SpeakerOkay, a short story. Adam from Hemp Works, I went to one of his birthday parties. It was back in 2003. It was in a park in Amsterdam. And, you know, we were all doing barbecues. I was doing the vegetarian barbecue and the other people were doing the fish. And then Sam came along with these hash candies, these chocolate hash candies, me and my daughter's husband. We ate them because, like, they weren't that big.
SpeakerAnd, like, somewhere between my mouth and my stomach, I felt this red pepper burn the back of my throat like never before. And I go, what the heck, man? What the heck is that? What the heck is that peppery? I go, is it peppery for you? Yeah, man, it's peppery for me, too. But it took a while. I kept on partying at the barbecue. And then I was with my 3-year-old granddaughter, and I had to bring her home.
SpeakerIt was time to go. So we left. I came back home. He was kind of tired from being at the party with me. And my daughter's husband was there, too. And all of a sudden, my granddaughter says, tell me a story. Tell me a story, Opa. So I started telling her a story, like the three little pigs. So I go, the first little pig had a house of straws.
SpeakerThe second little pig had a house of sticks. And the third little pig had a house of bricks. So I go, OK. One day the big bad wolf came to the house of straw, the first little pig. And the next thing I know, I just, I got kind of dizzy. The ceiling started spinning and I nodded out. And she said, Opa, what about the second piggy? And I go, oh my God, man.
SpeakerAnd I was gone. I was gone. And then I looked at my daughter's husband and he was laying on the floor. He was already gone. I didn't think he was gone, you know.
AaronI ate one of those same chocolates. I think it might have been the same year. I don't know if it was 2003. Maybe it was 2004 or something.
SpeakerWell, he made them the same for a few years.
AaronIt was like in this glass thing and they're all cut in squares and it was like a hash oil chocolate where like every piece had like one gram of hash oil. He puts a gram of his dry sifting. I thought I was going to die, bro. I thought I was going to die. I was like I look over to Don, and we're in the middle of this park, and I'm like, Don, dude, you're going to take me to the hospital, bro.
AaronI am going to die, dude. I don't know what was in that thing. And I start thinking of all these different rumors that I heard and shit, and I was like, I don't know. And the worst part about it is we're in Amsterdam, bro. You have to ride your ass on a bicycle home. You know? That's why I got a lot of futons. That's why I got a lot of futons.
AaronI was dying, bro. I'm eating mushrooms at this guy's house, Soma's house, bro, one time. Like, the drink, bro, one cup, bro. His son-in-law and Don and this other dude, your ghost, bro, we were dying, bro. We were laughing so hard. We were talking about cheeseburgers. We were so hungry. And Soma comes over to us, bro. Like, everybody's tripping balls. Soma walks over to us. He's like, you, uh,
AaronYou guys need to be quiet. You guys can't be laughing. We're going to mess with someone else's trip and we're like, oh. You need to be quiet. None of us could roll a joint at this point because we're so messed up. I mean, we got some great stories, like, you know, the mushroom tea in Spain, bro, where homeboy accidentally drank it, thinking it was like some iced tea, because this guy, Zoma, puts it in an iced tea bottle, and he's like, oh, refreshing drink in the morning, and like, I'm like, how did that taste?
AaronWas the seal broken, or was it not broken? I go, was it peach? He's like, no, it didn't taste like peach, he said, man. I go, ooh, you want a cup? I go, nope. I go, nope.
SpeakerWatch out for this guy's teeth, bro, let me tell you.
BubblemanGet that tease, no joke. Yawn tea. Little psychedelic mushrooms. Give thanks.
SpeakerI ordered that book that you sent me last week, so that should be here next week, and it's about mushroom season, so I'm pretty excited to go hunt my yard.
BubblemanThat's an amazing book. She's talking about pulse damage, psilocybin mushrooms around the world.
SpeakerI studied with him in 1989. Paul's awesome.
BubblemanI invited him into Hash Church recently. I sent him a link and said, dude, we would love to have you come and talk about mushrooms and stuff.
SpeakerHe doesn't really smoke, though. That's the thing. His daughter smokes, but he doesn't smoke.
BubblemanYeah, he's not a big puffer at all. I did trip him out one year at the psychedelics conference in Whistler when I showed him A macro photograph of a resin gland. This was years before I took macro shots. It was one of Yuk Dumas' shots. And I showed it to him and I said, hey, Paul, can you try to identify this mushroom? And he's looking at it like, he's like, I've never seen anything like it.
BubblemanAnd then I was like, ah, just, you know, it's a glandular trichome. You know, it's a cannabis trichome. And he was just kind of like, holy shit, that was... You got me pretty good. And then he mentioned Rob Clark. He's like, do you know Rob Clark? And I guess they've had some funny experiences together, so we told a couple Rob stories. Yeah. He sure has inspired me through his information.
SpeakerI had a garden hand. A couple months ago, he's a moderator on a big mushroom forum, right? But the dude's a young guy. He loves gardening and he loves cannabis too, but he is like a whiz kid when it comes to mushrooms. He studies them, does the microscope stuff with the spores, so on and so forth. So when the fall season came, I was so hyped to see all the mushrooms growing from the grounds.
SpeakerThe cyans and the stun sea ice and all that stuff, man. It was amazing to hunt for them and actually see them fresh and change into like a dry product and everything. It was cool, man. Mushrooms are dope.
BubblemanYeah, searching for mushrooms in general. One of the things of living on the West Coast that I find super beneficial is that I can, throughout the year, go pick, not very far from my house, a multitude of kinds of psychedelic mushrooms. More than enough for me. To enjoy over the course of a year. And if I really wanted to, I could potentially inoculate areas and get them bigger where they already have mycelia networks living and growing.
BubblemanThey're just maybe small and they fruit only small amounts. If you needed more, it's pretty easy to propagate mycelium to grow, to expand.
SpeakerI'm going to have to find a little spot around the yard and do that.
BubblemanNice. You got the Baos, Cuban? Those are the ones right there, dude. I mean, Cyanescence and Azorescence are both amazing. Baocystins are much more rare, and that Norbaocystin, that chemical, that is very, it's a hallucinatory chemical that really causes, like, visual stimulation, so they're fun. I love Baocystins.
SpeakerThis dude, he goes by Giles. He takes, like, amazing photography. He has a really nice camera and stuff, and... He took us to a spot. He's like, man, we have to stop by here. I know you want the cyans and all that stuff, but I have to take pictures of these really rare mushrooms. So we pulled up. It was like a church or something. And he sets up like a shroud and all this stuff, and he's taking pictures of the bales.
SpeakerAnd they're really beautiful, man. They're different than the cyans. Yeah, they're very different. They're dark colored. They're dark, yeah. Of course we knew your church, bro. Yeah, right? It was crazy. People were looking at us all weird like, hey, what are you guys doing over there looking at the ground? Here in Washington... You're taking our whole emotions, man.
BubblemanYeah, hey, bro.
SpeakerIf you walk looking at the ground in the fall in... In Washington, you're going to get pulled over type shit, you know what I mean?
BubblemanWell, you want to hear what you're up to, bro. In Vancouver, for years, at the airport, when you're driving in on the right side, there's a huge amount of grass. Most of it's getting taken out now. They've been building and stuff. But for years, people have picked Semmel and Ciata as the liberty caps, the real tiny little ones. And so they grow there. And what I found, after it was really known to most people in the early 2000s, People started going there and smacking golf balls around, so they'd carry a golf ball in a golf club, but really they were picking mushrooms.
SpeakerYeah, I see. That's cool. They're putting it on the front. I'll grab my golf clubs when I go hunting outside of my two acres. Liberty Cats is the one that we get in the UK. I don't think you can get any other ones, but Liberty Cats are pretty potent over here. Yeah, they're potent.
BubblemanThose are semolensiatas they're called in the, I guess, the mushroom world.
SpeakerLatin name.
BubblemanYeah, Latin name, semolensiata.
SpeakerAnother one I have is the pelliculosa. It's like a little baby one. Yeah, like with a non-opened head. Really thin stems. Yeah, they're very small. And the thing is, so I was really into it. In Florida, the only thing we could find were the... The Cubenzis, right? So I can eat an ATHEN. It would be a pretty strong trip, but it wasn't anything out of this world.
SpeakerBrother, I ate an ATHEN of Cyan's, and let me tell you, that shit made me afraid of mushrooms, bro. I was like on a mission.
PhilYou need to go to Amsterdam, bro.
AaronYou need to go to Amsterdam and go visit Selma and drink 12 different kinds of mushroom tea. Who knows what else he throws in there?
SpeakerHey, Selma. Fresh Mushroom Tea.
BubblemanOne peyote button, too. Are you potentiating that with harmaline and harmine, like with a banisteriopsis?
SpeakerNo, I use red Chinese ginseng. Red Chinese ginseng? That does the same thing.
BubblemanReally? It has the harmaline and the harmine in it?
SpeakerYeah.
BubblemanWow.
SpeakerThat's cool.
BubblemanYeah. Yeah, that's serious stuff once you start potentiating that molecule, that tryptamine.
SpeakerSo speaking of psychedelics, have you guys ever ate enough edibles to experience like a trip-like edible high? All the time. All the time. Hell yeah. All the time. I make this hash candy, like I never stay out of it. Like I never want to run out of it, you know, so I always got some around. And at least every other day I eat. Yeah. That stuff is amazing.
SpeakerI go to the sauna. I eat a bunch. I go to the sauna. There's a really nice sauna here. And before I leave the sauna, I leave my body at least at some point. I leave my body and I go into this psychedelic state only on edibles. Yeah, man, it's like nothing I've ever experienced. So in Florida, we didn't really have use for trim. They used to just throw that stuff away before, you know, there's hash and oil and stuff.
SpeakerSo I got the trim and I saw a link how to make butter. And I think I stuck like a pound and a half of like really keefy trim. With a very little bit of butter and strained it a bunch of times and it was like extremely potent. So I made these brownies, right? It was like, hey, a quarter of butter. I'm like, a quarter? Ah, fuck that.
SpeakerLet's put a half of butter in that one. I ate like three pieces of brownie and I must have been high for like 24 hours, bro. Yeah, and it takes a while to eat you so you don't realize how high you are yet. Yeah. Exactly.
BubblemanHere's a good story about that. I was at Breeders Steve's wedding out east and he gives me a half pound of grapefruit buds and he says, hey, can you get your wife to make some brownies? And I was like, oh yeah, sure, we'll figure it out, you know. This was, really didn't have time to like, or the tools to sift it so it was literally just going to be like the harsh greenery but she cooked the whole half pound of dank weed into like a couple of trays of brownies.
BubblemanShe had ground it real fine and she had filtered it and soaked it into the butter and It wasn't like you were eating plant matter, but it was still greenish and you could taste it very strong. And I'll never forget the one woman going, I'm Jamaican, give me two. She was the first to go out on a stretcher. And they were all medical doctors. All three people that went out on stretchers were like high, like really well-known surgeons and stuff throughout Canada.
BubblemanAnd in fact, when they ended up in this little small hospital at Sobel Beach, The doctors all were coming in to visit them because they had never had that amount of prestigious doctors in their facility at one time. And they all had brownies that my wife made, and man, I'll tell you, one by one, out on the stretcher they went.
SpeakerThey're no joke, man. Dude! I knew a guy that took his girlfriend to Amsterdam, and because she didn't smoke, he convinced her to eat an edible. As if it would be more mild. And then when they come back, he moaned at me that she got so high and then told me that he didn't even believe that eating it would get you high. So what I then proceeded to do was make one gram cookies.
SpeakerFor him? For him, myself, and another friend. His girlfriend phoned me that night saying that he's on the toilet, like hugging the toilet, crying, and telling her to call an ambulance.
BubblemanAnd did she say thank you as well?
SpeakerShe said, what should I do because I'm not calling a fucking ambulance for him.
SpeakerHe'll ride it out. Take his phone away from him and leave him alone. He'll be all right in a while. Take him to the hospital. An experience like that will make you never doubt that cannabis can be psychedelic or psychoactive or whatever that stuff is.
BubblemanIt can get strong. It's called 11-hydroxymetabolite.
SpeakerI'm always trying to remember that. 11-hydroxymetabolite. Yeah.
BubblemanThat's what THC turns into when it flips through the liver and gets metabolized. A whole nother kettle of fish. Drown like acid.
SpeakerFirst time I made butter with the weed was just too much for me. It scared me off. Everyone that makes butter fucked up. I'm glad I worked on only one.
SpeakerHey, welcome back to the room, D420K. You betcha. Hey, you know, there's those stories we were talking about earlier, the disasters of grow rooms and overflowing your reservoirs and all these things. I've got to share a story, and I've been waiting to do it for a while, but I had a grow-off that was an illegal one a long, long time ago. Out at a barn, we had a big 50 lighter going.
SpeakerActually, that wasn't actually illegal. We made it legal after all that happened. We cruised into the driveway to a forest fire surrounding the barn with the forestry, police, fire people, citizens, neighbors. Helping us fight this fire. We fought the fire for about three days around this fortress of a barn we had with the guys that were inside the workers that stayed there for three days in there.
SpeakerWe had all the supplies, food, everything. Generators from outside the shack. Everything was hidden. There was not even a reservoir outside of the barn. Thank you for watching.
SpeakerIt was fucking crazy because as soon as I pulled in the driveway, there was people pointing and waving at me to get over here right now. Anybody in the area who was illegal to say no, we're not helping because you could go to jail over it. You had to stay, you had to fight the fire, and it was my fucking place. Holy shit, man. It was good.
SpeakerSuccess. My story. Nice to be lucky like that. I got a short story like that where I was lucky. It was 1996 when I was first living in Amsterdam full time. And I had a nice grow room. And I would always work on there from like midnight to like four in the morning. When nobody else was around, I'd go in there and I'd be doing my thing and nobody would bother me.
SpeakerAnd I'd get really inspired at that time of the day, daytime, nighttime. And so like I was looking at my clones one day. You know, like I had a bunch of clones, like I had 51 different kinds of mothers at one point, right, at that point. And I was looking at all the clones and all of a sudden I looked and I saw spider mites. And that was before I knew about neem oil, before I knew about pyrethium, before I knew about a lot of things that I could deal with it.
SpeakerAnd I just panicked. I panicked and I got super bummed out because I couldn't do anything about it until the next day when I could go to the grocery shopping. Figure out what to do, because I didn't know what to do about spider mites back then. And I had started filling this reservoir, but I got so bummed out after I looked at the spider mites that I went upstairs and I went to, you know, I started to go to sleep.
SpeakerI took off all my clothes, I got into bed, and I laid back and I thought, did I turn the water off? And I couldn't remember turning the water off. I went downstairs. And as soon as I opened the door, there was like two inches of water on the whole growing floor. It had that black plastic, so it wasn't like, it was like holding like a swimming pool.
SpeakerAnd underneath me was a big hardware store that I rented this place on top of that was closed right then. And so I like pulled the plugs on everything that was low so I couldn't get electrocuted. And then I went in and I started like every towel in the house, every paper towel, every mop, I started like trying to like get the water Thank you. Thank you.
SpeakerThank you.
SpeakerIt had come down in between the aisles. So it didn't come down on any merchandise somehow. It only came down on the aisles. So there wasn't major damage. And like I showed him this hose, and he sold new ones, new hoses like that. So I bought a new hose, and I said, look, if there's any damage, I'll be responsible for it. And I never got that grow room busted.
SpeakerI didn't get that grow room busted. That's some good luck, man, for sure. It's nice to be lucky. One of my dogs. I used to have a Staffordshire Bull Terrier that was kind of terrified of fireworks and he'd try and hide whenever there was fireworks going off and I came back to the house in complete darkness where he'd ripped the toilet off of the wall upstairs and had the whole house literally was like Niagara Falls coming through the ceiling.
SpeakerWe could smell the grow from like two streets away. Literally had to spend like eight hours soaking up water, rinsing it, soaking, rinsing it and Yeah. Water. Oh, it's good. It's good to feed the plants, but not to swim around in when you're trying to get to them.
BubblemanAh, the things that can happen, hey? The things that can happen.
SpeakerKeep changing your toes.
SpeakerAnd the little things that have gotten people busted, too. The very little things that have turned into... Complete actual disasters, man.
BubblemanYes.
SpeakerYeah.
BubblemanWell, they have a saying in the back country, when you're up in the mountains in the back country, they always say, like, even the smallest bad decision can snowball quickly and turn into a really, like, life-threatening, you know, just like that. Just from one little mistake you make, you can literally set off an avalanche and bury your friends, and that's sort of the metaphor of how many agros have been popped.
SpeakerMm-hmm. I had a close pop.
BubblemanTony?
SpeakerI had a close pop in the 90s. I was pretty young. I was like 19 or 20. But I was growing in an apartment building in this little aerial farm in a bedroom. And I used this O3 emitter, this commercial O3 emitter at the time that would come on at night. And I didn't have a digital timer, so I just had one of those regular...
SpeakerI was growing this grape skunk and some white rhino and at some point in the middle of the night there must have been such a huge woof of like grape and skunk and rhino that this O3 emitter that would kill the, it's just ozone 3 basically. It like shut off for that hour and the whole entire building of like 600 people could smell the glow. I was completely unaware of this, of course.
SpeakerAnd then like towards the end of the harvest, like everyone shared the elevator because I was like in this first floor on the corner of the building next to a concrete stair wall. Like there was no one that passed my room. Like I thought I was like well hidden. And people were like, hey, what's up, bro? What's up? That skunk, bro?
BubblemanThat's not good.
SpeakerI'm like, dude, what are you talking about? At least we're strangers. Like, they were watching me on campus. They were like, what's up, bro? I can smell that shit. I'm like, don't try to lie to me, bro. We all know you're growing in there. You're going to have to hook yourself up. And I was like, what are you talking about? Next thing I know, I tried to deny it.
SpeakerThen the landlord came in one day right when this, like, toilet back flushed, and the door was, Thank you for watching.
SpeakerWhat I can tell you is that this toilet overflowed, and I'm cleaning it up. I was like, what I need from you is a fan, some buckets, some towels, and this. Otherwise, I've got to get this shit cleaned up, you know?
SpeakerAnd so he goes, okay, I'll go get a fan. So he goes and gets a fan. So I'm like, all right. So I close the door, lock the door. He gives me this fan and he's like, are you sure you don't know what we're talking about? And I said, I have no idea what you're talking about, man. He goes, well, why is your bedroom set and your end table in the living room and not in that back bedroom?
SpeakerAnd so I go, well, the guy that was, I just moved in here. I said, I don't know really what's going on. The guy that was moving before me apparently still has the key. And he goes, he was here and gone by the time I got this fan. I said, you know, he came here and he locked the door and he took off. Like the next, like that evening, that shit was taken out.
BubblemanYeah, sometimes the smell can get us in trouble, you know. Cannabis, the one thing that we love so much about it can also be the thing that can get you in trouble. I'll personally never forget being at the bottom of a really high-end car Like in the bottom of a high-end apartment building's underground parking, which is all sealed, and I've met my friend from the island, and he's got like 90 pounds and four giant big bins, like huge bins, not those little 64-liter ones, but like the real big ones that you could fit like a whole bag of cocoa mix into.
BubblemanThey're really big, like a person could fit in one, because you don't want to squeeze the weed out. So he's got four of these stacked like six feet tall. We're standing at the elevator and these two young native girls walk in and the one girl's like, man, I smell burn. And the other girl's like laughing and she's like, could you imagine if all of those were filled with burn?
BubblemanAnd we're just sitting there like looking at the floor like, oh. We found out all the weed was sealed, get this, all of it was sealed in the containers, in the tubs. Thank you for watching.
SpeakerI had a horrible experience once where we had a power cut at one of the grows I was doing and I was doing it with two other friends and they were more on the technical side of things. Me, like I always say, I'm more of a chef, not a kitchen builder. When I turned up to the grow and there was all power out and it was the main fuse and Both of the guys were on holiday.
SpeakerI had to change the fuse. I know nothing. I was lucky to survive because I first of all put it in without flicking it off. So the arc that came out from the main fuse shit the life out of me and nearly blew me 10 foot across the room. When I eventually got the power back on and get some air control back on, I do everything, think that everything's okay.
SpeakerTwo days later, I'm in the room, and I get a phone call from one of my partners, and he says to me, where are you? So I say, I'm at the spot, why? He says, because there's two police at the front door. Jesus. So... I just crouched and stopped breathing for three minutes, like literally holding my breath. I'm like, bro, what the fuck? He's like, look, just don't move.
SpeakerI'll give you a shout in a minute. And they stood there. They had obviously got a phone call because we had new neighbors moving, and they were obviously a little bit more conscious than the ones before. So literally that night I said to my guys, look, man, I don't know about you, but I'm taking my section and I'm done. I'm chopping and moving. If you want yours out of there, let me know.
SpeakerAnd I literally took like seven key, chopped the whole lot, bagged it fresh, loaded my car, and moved it. And from that day on, my car was ruined. I had to get rid of the car. Literally, every time I got stopped by police, they could smell the car. Three months later, after several valets, after everything, the car was stained beyond all recognition. I was getting stopped and searched to such high degree because of the smell, but had nothing on me.
BubblemanThey were convinced your car was a grow room.
SpeakerWell, you know what? They could not get their head around it. The funniest one, I had a cab driver hit my car, and while we were having an argument, police turned up, and the cab driver tells them, oh, he stinks of weed. So then they start searching my car like crazy because everything stinks. Jesus. I got to call my granddaughter before it gets later.
BubblemanHey, say hi to Lexi, Soma, and have yourself a great evening. I appreciate your presence here in Hashtag. Nice to see you all.
SpeakerNice to see you all.
BubblemanSoma, peace out. See you. Peace. You know, true, at my first grow ever, I moved out when I was very young, like 17, 18 years old, and got a house and lived with a buddy who kind of had grow knowledge. He was growing in his parents' house just like plants and vegetables and stuff. He was growing like morning glory, and he was growing mushrooms. So we got into growing weed and mushrooms together at this house that we rented.
BubblemanAnd he wasn't the sharpest tool in the drawer at this point in time. And he thought it would be a good idea while we were breaking all these laws. And I'm also sitting like in my living room just, you know, slang into all my friends with the grow upstairs and mushrooms and weed in the house. Like super safe, right? And so he goes down the street. He's like, I'm going to build a bong.
BubblemanBecause I was building bongs at the time. I thought it was real fun to like make bongs out of jars and stuff. So he was like, I'm going to do that. And so he goes down to the, I guess it would be like a Home Depot, but it wasn't a Home Depot. It was like some other type of like, you know, like not tool shop, but just like everything shop.
BubblemanSo he goes into this place and he finds the little like, basically he needs this little, it's almost like the tool that fits at the end of a ratchet set, like a ratchet at the end of the tool. Just one little piece. He wanted to flip that upside down and use it as his bowl. Ratchet. Yeah, so yeah, he went and stole a ratchet for 50 cents that he could have bought for 50 cents and got caught by security.
BubblemanThey caught him. They looked at his license and it said that he lived at our address, which was just down the street. So the police came and showed up and brought him to our house. Now, two days prior, he was mucking around with a light bulb out on the deck and he hit me. He broke the fucking light bulb. So he broke it in the socket and we weren't smart enough to think of jamming a potato in there and there was no fucking internet.
BubblemanSo we just left it. Oh my God. And so now the police show up. It's late at night. I'm sitting with my buddy. We're puffing. There's bags of weed everywhere.
SpeakerAnd I hear this bang, bang, bang.
BubblemanAnd I look over to my buddy and I'm like, man, that sounded like a pop knock. And I lean over and I look through the drapes and there's my grow partner with handcuffs on, standing with his head down. And I police one on either side and I'm like, okay, fuck. My high has totally been ruined. No problem. You know, hide all these bags of weed. My buddy's hiding weed like crazy.
BubblemanI'm kind of around the corner. I've got my little fan set up thing that's kind of like a carbon filter thing that I've set up a little to blow things out away from the door. And then I go out, okay, I'm like, okay, here we go, Mark, here we go. Not ready to go to jail in Winnipeg just yet. Winnipeg jail is really not a place to be going.
BubblemanAnd so I go outside and I open the door and I guess they don't really expect me to come out and shut the door behind me so quick. So I'm right on them, like standing like inches away from them and there's no light. So they're kind of like they've got their lights and they're holding their guns and they're like, hey, hey, who are you or whatever. And before I can even come up with anything, I hear my mother's voice come through their radio.
BubblemanMy mother is a 911 operator in Manitoba. This time, she was the chief operator for Manitoba. So he's like, you know, who are, what's going on? I'm like, oh, oh, oh, that's my mother, Paulette Richardson. And he's like, what? I'm like, yeah, Paulette Richardson, that's, she's talking to you right now. Why don't you just tell her you're at her son's house and...
SpeakerHe's like, what?
BubblemanAnd kind of like, Paulette, we got a kid here who says he's your son, 168 Lenore Street, over. And she's like, oh yeah, that's my son, Marcus, say hi to him for me. And boom, those motherfuckers are leaving. See you later, guys. Have a good night. I've got weed and mushrooms to grow back here. So that was one of many, many times that my mom's, dropping my mom's name got me out of roadblocks, got me out of so many things that they just can't really be bothered with like causing problems with, you know, what they consider their own.
BubblemanI never considered myself part of their team personally, but yeah. I was more, I always kind of was a little against the police because of the way they stood against cannabis. I thought, man, if you can be that brain dead and just stand, like you're just like a fucking Nazi soldier, like you don't know what's wrong to fucking kill people, like because they're a belief system or a race, like locking people up for plants, like destroying people's worlds for plants.
BubblemanSo I kind of had a little bit of a negative, even though I grew up in it and I saw many police that were kind and nice to each other and I was like, well, that guy doesn't seem like a dick. But then I'll hear like a friend, I'm like, oh, I know that guy, he's a total dick. It's like, well, it's because of his outlook. Maybe David Allen would say it's his amygdialic hijacking of not being able to see.
BubblemanAnd I shouldn't say that about all cops because I have known really good cops that are like, have no interest whatsoever or worry about cannabis. They're more like, you know, homicide detectives that are like focused on catching murderers than worrying about what drugs people do in their spare time.
SpeakerThat feed right there with the lab, that's how you microplane, huh? Yeah, there we go. Look at that, buddy. Hey, that is an awesome lab. Keep on keeping on, player. Why can't I see?
BubblemanMicroplane it up. Go to Kenneth's camera and check it out. They got the trays. They're rocking it out. I don't know if Jibs is in the house, but welcome Trichome Heavy Extracts in the house.
SpeakerJust so you know. Hard every day. Is that? Is this?
BubblemanHi, guys. Representing.
SpeakerHey, guys. How's it going? What up, homie? Just working. Just working. See you, y'all. Oh, that's a nice-looking lab, man. That is a nice-looking lab. I love those trays, man. They have those racks. I love them. Amazing. I know. Can't wait to get Rex. Wow, yeah. Hey, thanks for streaming. Thank you, man. That's awesome. Can you tell us what you're making? Some flavors there? This right here is abusive OG that I'm microplanning right here.
SpeakerHow do you feel about that strain? I have one abusive that is going into flower next round, and I haven't personally seen it. Is your abusive real woody stemming? Has it got like a real woody kind of old look to it? Yeah, and it's real, she's got legs. Yeah. I really, really like the Abusive. It's got that nice OG, but it kind of smells like Old Man B.O.
Speakera little bit.
BubblemanNice.
SpeakerIt smells really, really well.
BubblemanAs opposed to like Young Man B.O.?
SpeakerYeah, exactly, like Mothballs.
BubblemanHey, we got 500 viewers. 500 people watching live at the Trichome Heavy Extract Lab here at MassChurch.
SpeakerIt wouldn't be abusive if it wasn't old men viewing. That's so funny. I love the, Do a bum rip. You got your bums in there? Do a bum rip for me, Darren. I miss my bum.
BubblemanOh, no bums in the lab.
SpeakerNo phones allowed in here. This is a lab exclusive. Not many people get to see this. That's awesome, man. Very inspirational, guys. Very inspirational. Standards get set. Right now, we're just breaking down. We filled up all the racks yesterday. I believe there's 10 today. We have up to 12 on Sunday. Right now, Eli's breaking down all the racks. 10 racks can get us about...
SpeakerSo we're always constantly at about 400, 500 grams every 18 hours of dried material. Nice. What temperatures are you working in? Right now, it's really, really snowy outside. It's about a foot of snow on the ground, so we're not like... 55 degrees and 40% humidity. I'm having the hardest time getting my temperature down. As you can see, it's insanely sunny. The best thing for the smaller dry room, I would recommend a product called CoolBot.
SpeakerIf you have like a window unit or a portable AC in your drying room. I've heard of that. Yeah, it overrides the control of the AC and lets you achieve colder temperatures than what it's designed to put on the normal control. So it'll go down to 40, 30 or whatever the case is. So if you oversize the AC for the room, you can really make yourself a cold room on a budget.
SpeakerSo do those only work on the window mounts or do those work on the portable ones too? Because I haven't, I heard somebody drop that name when I was asking about it, but. I'm just now to the point where I need to research it so I can get it installed. But do those only work on window mounts? Well, it works with both. The portables don't get down as cold.
SpeakerYou can probably get to like 45, but 45 is still really cold. You know, I think that's a great attempt. With the window units, you're able to get down to like about 35. And the cool box is about like, I don't know, 200 bucks, but... It's definitely nice to run alongside like a dehumidifier to do the cold dries and preserve the turps. Especially for the summer. The summer is brutal for me because I don't have cold water temperatures and everything so my water hash greases up faster than it would in the winter.
PhilAlright guys, I got some washing to do. I got a bunch of pounds that need to be washed into some melt, so it's been a pleasure. Everybody have a great day.
BubblemanThanks for coming in, brother.
PhilAlright. Peace. Alright, take care guys. Peace, brother.
BubblemanPeace out. Damn, we fucking just broke the four hour mark for Hash Church. Yeah.
SpeakerSo you getting excited about Jamaica or what?
BubblemanI'm beyond excited about Jamaica. Are you kidding me? I don't even talk about it.
SpeakerI'm ridiculously jealous, so I would love to hear all about it.
BubblemanListen, when I mentioned where we might stay in Negril to my wife, she was finally like, okay, you know what? Now I'm jealous.
SpeakerThat's what my girlfriend said, too. She goes, that was the place that I told you about. I'm like, whoa, whoa.
BubblemanWhoa, whoa, whoa. Now, now, in our defense, I've known about that place for almost 20 years.
SpeakerThat's what I said to her. I was like, been around for a while.
BubblemanActually, that's one of the places that Skunk Man Sam wanted to go back to a multitude of times to eat at because they had such a good kitchen.
SpeakerYeah, so we're actually going to be judges at the Stepping High Festival. It's their local island cannabis cup they've had for about 13 years. So we're supposed to be on, I guess, a panel and talking about resin and check out what's going on in the grill. And at the same time, both CRD and UCAN are sponsoring a celebrity soccer match in a different city where it's like, Certain cities verse each other.
SpeakerSo we've got like Chronix, Jesse Royale, Richie Spice.
BubblemanIt's St. Catherine's artists versus the Kingston artists.
SpeakerYeah.
BubblemanSo that should be interesting for sure to see that soccer match. I'm personally going to be judging this cup in Negril with a steam pipe. So everything I hit will all be herb. I won't make hash with it first, but I will hot air extract it with a steam pipe.
BubblemanWhat about yourself, Tony? Are you going to just hit like bongs or roll joints or do steam pipes or a variety?
SpeakerI prefer the steam chalice. I really do enjoy it. And I like the egg when it's there. Explain the steam chalice, please. Go ahead, Bubble Man.
SpeakerOne sec.
SpeakerBasically, it's the world's first vaporizer. It looks like it's going to town, but it's the world's first vaporizer. They used coconuts and their skins, and they dry them out almost like a coal to where it becomes a coconut... Thank you for joining us.
BubblemanExcept when Tony or myself are there and we're just dropping full melt on top of the coals. We have these big Killam style pipes where the weeds weigh in the bottom and then there's a plug and then there's a bunch of coals on top of that and you just hit this thing. It's basically a vaporizer. It's using the hot air from the coals that you're sucking over the weed, melting the resin and carrying it in a vapor into your lungs.
BubblemanIt's the original vaporizer guaranteed.
SpeakerNice, nice. Thank you. It really goes well if you drop full melt, maybe like a drop of pure turks, then the turks are vaporizing through the steam chalice. You can do a lot of things with it.
BubblemanYeah, exactly. I'm looking forward to testing a bunch of strains with this steam chalice.
SpeakerAt that same time, they should be done with the actual laws. So Jamaica's about to make history around that same exact time, so that's why there's a lot of activity and celebration going on. And we've got some other stuff coming out next week that'll address what's going on on the medical and scientific level, too. So it'll be pretty cool, all happening at the same time.
BubblemanNice. Well, shit, that's only a few more days away for next week.
SpeakerYeah, a few weeks away.
SpeakerMay 5th or March 5th. What's today? The 21st?
BubblemanIt is the 22nd today.
SpeakerAnother week or so. A couple weeks we'll be there.
BubblemanYep. That'll be fun. And then right after that, Barcelona, which is also very exciting to see the whole can of fam. So I think Jamaica... You know what? I guarantee you, Tony, that we will make this into a thing where we start seeing all these familiars in Jamaica.
SpeakerOh, I would guarantee you you see people in Jamaica before the end of the year.
BubblemanNice. I like that. I mean, I like that it was, you know, for a while it was just us kind of... Would you rather be...
SpeakerIn 80 degree weather and it's dry and wearing a nice shirt that you can breathe in, drinking a fruit drink, I tell food. Reggae music. Reggae music, enjoying yourself, or would you rather be in a very cold, miserable place? Because it's 16 inches of snow outside my place right now. All I can do is eat. All I can do is eat. Awesome. I like doing that. I like doing it too.
SpeakerI like smoking hash and eating. So that's what I'm doing. And thank God it's Sunday. But... Beside me in my shop, full of food. Not to mention, not to mention you could be in the ocean. You know, enjoying yourself in clear water. Let's go, John. I'm always well. You know, I just pressed on some beautiful hash and I'm dabbing into eating, smoking hash.
Bubbleman45U. Welcome back, Johnny B. The Long Hash Church, I'll tell you. We've had a nice flow of people come through. There's probably a dozen or ten people that were already in here that are gone now, wouldn't you guys say?
SpeakerYes, I was paying attention. It was nice to see Soma in. Oh, by the way, Aaron and I were in this deep discussion about lighting because we've been talking about lighting with Brad and everything. So we're like in the middle of buying... You know, greenhouse lights and indoor lights. We've got a Vegas project. We've got Vegas projects, Cali projects, some other states too. So Aaron's doing a side-by-side of, like, what he thinks the best light is.
SpeakerSo he's checking into Brad's versus, say, Gavita's or what's hot. You know what? Just throw it in there. I know you'd be impressed with it, Tony. The what? So what was Spectrum King underneath in a room and have a look. I think you'll be happy with the results. Whereas HDI ceramic bulbs, I think those two together will be just working harmony.
SpeakerI like Brad's bulb. I like his concept. I've seen it in person. I've touched the bulb. I've seen the ballast. The ballast looks like a square box that's really thin. You can hook six of them in. There's no heat with the bulb and there's no heat with the ballast. It pulled 300 watts, and in Colorado, the electric company gives you 30% off your bill, whatever that rate would be on top of that.
PhilReally?
SpeakerYep. So, Aaron's checking it out. I wanted him to see what he thought about it. I thought it was pretty cool.
AaronYeah, I didn't get too much info off his email that he sent to me, just like a picture of some plants under one light and some plants under another light, but I don't know if There are two different species of plants, you know, you don't really know off of just two pictures.
SpeakerIt comes down to like lumens, like does it push the same lumens in the same three foot by three foot areas a thousand watt? He's talked a lot about vibration too and all kinds of different technologies that are coming out with lighting and what's happening with it. It's really interesting. But I definitely want to try his bulb with the Spectrum King. I think those two would... I'm getting the penetration with the Spectrum King all the way down to the bottom.
SpeakerI see that then all the strain. So I talked to him about it quite a bit. So I'm hoping to get one of his lights and give it a shot and see what it will do together. I am convinced that something like that, if you can push a really good lumens with no heat and control your temperature... And use your spectrum that you're talking about, like Elise for veg, vegging the plant healthy and strong and big.
SpeakerI am convinced that that would be a very good solution for power and heat and energy consumption and spreading the light. I'm just curious to see what the specs are, like a 315 versus 1,000 watt HPS, for an example.
SpeakerNice to see you. I'm curious.
BubblemanI just realized I still have like two Spain videos from last year to release before I can possibly go to Spain again this year, I guess, this year.
SpeakerI have like four of them.
BubblemanWell, you have the whole documentary. Like I still get people text me or message me every once in a while. They're like, you guys still doing that documentary?
SpeakerDo you want me to do like a 15-minute like cool teaser of it?
BubblemanNah, I mean you could or we could just keep filming every time we go somewhere. Mm-hmm.
SpeakerWell, I'm going to be filming in Madrid this year, so.
BubblemanOh, excellent, excellent.
BubblemanDidn't even crack a smile on Aaron that time. Oh, dude, I'm just, I was doing something else. I could tell. I was waiting for your reaction when Tony said that he'll see you in Madrid.
SpeakerThat's what I'm going to be filming this year, Aaron. You should be in Madrid and not Barcelona.
BubblemanDude, if Tony's going to Madrid, he probably knows something we don't, Aaron.
AaronI don't know about that one.
BubblemanLet's get everyone to change their ticket. To Madrid? Yeah, we'll all take a bus from Madrid down to Barcelona together. It'll be the bubble bus.
AaronPut that up. Put that up on your social media. Be like, meet me in Madrid. Meet me in Madrid. Meet how many people show up, meet you there.
BubblemanThe only problem is I won't be there. I bought a ticket to Barcelona.
AaronI'm flying in from Amsterdam to Barcelona too.
SpeakerThat bamboo's old.
BubblemanYeah, you got suckered, brother. That's bullshit. I can answer that sometimes, man. Funny, I went and downloaded... Oh, I downloaded some program. I wanted to try out some photographer program, and it was like the scam program that Johnny B downloaded on his Mac and got malware put on his Mac. So I put malware on my Mac, and I'm like, I open a few things, and ads are popping up, and I'm like, oh, I must have malware.
BubblemanSo I go in, and I just remove it, and then that's it. And I think, damn, like, what did you do when you got that, John?
SpeakerBrand new computer. I got a link from Dane to download something. I did. And I've never used a Mac before, so within 24 hours, I just went and got another one.
BubblemanDude, he took it in and dropped it off with the people.
SpeakerI was done. Drop it off, say, here, fix it, and come back, call me back. I'm like, no, and took it back, got a new one, and they just exchanged it.
BubblemanDude, malware is so easy to remove, though. It's a bonus. If that was a PC, that could be a nightmare from hell.
SpeakerYeah. Good old Apple. Great customer services. You fuck up and they change it.
BubblemanWell, really, what they probably did was just remove the adware because it wasn't a virus. You know what I mean?
SpeakerI just didn't want to do it.
BubblemanFacts don't get viruses. Like, John never had a virus. He had exactly what I had, which was an add-on that goes on to either Firefox or Mozilla or Chrome, sometimes all of them. It adds itself, and what it does is it hijacks... Your HTTPSs and it just opens all these little ads, but it's, all you have to do is know, go into your file, it's in tools under add-ons for Firefox, and then it's just, it shows up and you just go disable, delete.
BubblemanBut a lot of people don't know that and what they end up doing is, you know, taking their computers in to get them fixed. I remember when John told me, I was like, you dropped it off to get it fixed, dude? I could have helped you Thank you for watching.
SpeakerI have all Macs, so if I have any problems, Mark, I'm hitting you up.
BubblemanYeah, it's worth hitting me up because it just could be a simple question that it's like, listen, I mean, honestly, you could also hit up Google. I always tell people, like, any question I can answer, Google can answer faster and probably better. Just the same question, ask the exact same way. You just type it into Google, enter, boom.
SpeakerWell, I do want to do, Mark, I need to ask you a favor. When you come over, Mark, I want a little, a few tips on some macro photography because I'm lucky enough to have access to a setup like yours now and with all these nice pure sift around, I want to get some good photos of it.
BubblemanOh, dude, well, invite me over and we'll shoot. I mean, I always, I've been telling Aaron this for fucking 10 years, but they don't seem to ever have strains ready at the right time. I always want to photograph strains in bloom when I'm in Amsterdam. I mean, I know I'm only there for 10 or 12 days, but... Yeah, if it's available, I'm down.
SpeakerI love some awesome things in Photograph Pro, and I can learn from it too, so it'll be good all around.
BubblemanOh yeah, I'll tell you everything I know about it and give you all the tips and tricks that I learned over the years that can definitely give you a huge advantage.
SpeakerAwesome, man. Excited for that. And obviously it's going to be good to take photos of all this nice dry sift, make sure it's pure before we melt it away. Yep, straight up. When are you flying to Spain, Drew? I'll be there way before the Cup. I'm going to get out there and get busy so that we've got a lot to smoke and sift. I'm going to be busy so that we're having a good time.
SpeakerI'll be there a couple of weeks before, hopefully.
AaronAll right, cool. I know we're staying a couple of days after. Yeah, I'll be around, definitely.
SpeakerI'm Barcelona now. Barcelona's the new venue for me. I'm off to Barcelona soon.
AaronYeah, I think I heard what team you're working with. It's pretty good.
BubblemanYeah, I saw you down there with Edu and David.
SpeakerOh, Eddie's an awesome guy, man. He had some awesome hash. We had a great smoke up with him and David. Great guys. Awesome venue. I'm sure we're going to have a great time at HQ when we all go over there.
BubblemanOh, yeah, dude. They wanted to do like a special day or something. I haven't gotten back to them yet. I've got to still get back to Javier and confirm that I'm going to be in Medical Seeds booth with my booth. But it would be cool to have an event, a gathering. 420 in Toronto, guys.
SpeakerYeah, so it's 420 in the East Coast and I think the Hash Church has been going on for four hours and 20 minutes. So that's bomb rip time, right? I'm dry toking. That's how bad it is. I'm dry toking. I know that the chat room is getting excited over there with the 420. A lot of people have stuck around and been watching.
BubblemanYep. True enough, it's 420. It's 120 right now, which is 420 out east, so here's our 420 rip, everyone. Second week in a row.
AaronThanks to Cuban Grover for bringing it up, and thanks for him for letting me and my significant other be smoking on some of his beautiful hashish.
SpeakerThanks for letting me get this quality of resin aftertouch. $99.99 for the beautiness. That sucks. Ja will be waiting there.
BubblemanJa will be waiting there.
SpeakerThank you, Ja.
SpeakerWe're hoping to launch the new clothing brand soon we've got coming out, guys, called Turplife. I'm getting ready for that one. I'm going to be hooking everyone up with T-shirts. I know everyone here will want to rep the Turplife brand.
BubblemanHell yeah, dude. You know what? It's funny that you say that because I recently just started a contract with a guy from the Terp Shop. He does the plant that says it looks like whole foods, but it says whole plant.
SpeakerAwesome.
BubblemanYeah, and a couple other little kind of funny ones. So yeah, if you ever want to do some collabs, let me know about that. He just contacted me and was like, hey, you want to do some collaborations? I was like, yeah.
SpeakerYeah. That's cool. I've got some awesome things in the pipeline. Yeah, like some people like to wear Nike shirts and stuff like that, you know what I mean? I like to wear like people's brands and hash companies and seed companies and stuff. You know, we don't have to hide no more. We don't have to hide our love and our culture. Now we can be proud and represent.
SpeakerAnd it's happening. It's like now we don't have to go and wear a whole bunch of shit that like 500 people who we don't even hang around with. We can go out wearing the same Nike top and everyone's dressed the same as you. When I go out and someone's got on the Melts hoodie or they've got on a Bubble Man t-shirt or something like that, you feel happy.
SpeakerYou give them a wink and you're like, oh yeah, we're on the same page. It's not like you're pissed off to see someone repping the same stuff.
BubblemanYeah, no shit.
SpeakerI'm rocking my DNA shirt today. You can see it. Whenever we do time to run, probably my time to shit.
BubblemanNice, yeah, that's how to represent. That's definitely how to represent. Well, I've, I don't know, I'm rocking a 45 micron shirt, but I'm also rocking a trichome heavy extract hoodie and a DNA hat, so I'm full of... Cannabis promotions.
SpeakerI prefer to represent people that I support. No. Like, I find myself not buying random brands anymore because I'm like, I could use this opportunity to shout out some people. So I'm branding myself to my friends. It's just a lot of them are very, very nice when you meet them in person and, you know, I'm always a fan at heart of a handful of great people in the industry.
SpeakerI'm wearing my homeboys, OG Cushmans, the Source Genetics hoodie. You know, he's a very cool guy. I love that dude. But I have, you know, THE Melts, Third Gen Fam, Swamp Boys, everybody that I could have Been able to get a shirt or a hoodie. Mad love for the Swamp Boy crew. Thank you to them for the triangle kush cut.
BubblemanDude, there's a lot of crews.
SpeakerIf it wasn't for that whole Swamp Boy crew, I wouldn't have the triangle kush, and that's what I use for the troop, which I placed at the high times this year, so it's another example of community and people looking out for us. Hey, there's just a couple of cats from Florida, you know what I mean, that kicked it there for a long time and were doing their backyard breeding, trying to push their strains forward, man.
SpeakerWhen I was sitting with them, I was like, bro, so why would you start breeding? Because when I was in Florida, I was just trying to grow packs. He's like, bro, because we had to hit them with new flavors. Every time, we had to keep an exclusive, so the packs, you know, no one else had those flavors. So they It's cool when you meet them, man, and they love hash.
SpeakerRicky and Chrome, both. Cool crew. Miracle Swishers, too. I love the Swamp Boys, man. They're dope.
BubblemanProps to them. Okay, everyone's getting shouted out on Hash Church. Maybe they'll all join us. Maybe one day we'll do a full Hash Church of all different, like, crews that make, like, water extracts, and we'll just, like, have them all come in and talk about their different techs and talk about what's different and what kind of standards they're kind of trying to implement and what they're doing that's a little bit different, and Yeah, it'd be interesting to have a show about that.
SpeakerWouldn't it be cool if you could have 20 people on there? As opposed to 10 limit, it would be full. 20 people.
BubblemanDude, I bet you we could fill hundreds of people.
SpeakerWhat if you had multiple churches? Like this is one church, but we had like 10 churches.
BubblemanMight get a little confusing. I mean, I even find this one gets confusing when two or three people talk at once. It's really about... It's hard to know when to not talk and to let someone else talk just with 10.
SpeakerWhat if you did a hash church once a year though that had like multiple hash churches, like a hash church conference? It'd be pretty cool. The more we can do it and use it all the time, I think we could do it. Like that's how you end up, like Horatio would run like a turf panel or He could be talking about LHO and like then there's 10 people on that panel and all kinds of people are talking about it.
SpeakerYou could just jump into different like hash church rooms that Sunday once a year. Like boom, boom, boom, like extended 8-hour, 12-hour versions.
BubblemanThat would be the subscription hash church.
SpeakerYeah.
BubblemanTo raise money to like do something really cool with that money, you know, like you do a subscription thing and everyone pays for that one because it's a lot of people donating their time and they're doing it because no single person's getting that money but that money's going to like, you know, buy prana for autistic children or something that's really cool.
SpeakerThat sounds amazing.
BubblemanThat everyone stands behind, you know? There you go.
HoratioYeah, like a 24-hour telethon. There we go. Across the coast.
SpeakerYeah. Make Jocelyn for every episode. Do a bubble hash for every episode. Do a LHO for an episode. Do all of that stuff. Absolutely. All at once. He could be raising money for charities right now with subscription. We're going to do that every minute for the next podcast. You know, take a vote every week on however many people are watching on what they would donate it to, what cause they would donate it to, or what they would do.
SpeakerTake a vote on once a year or once a month on their vote.
BubblemanNo, fuck that. I'm deciding.
SpeakerSo much could be done. Let's get on that. Let's do something. Whatever. Let's... I don't think Kevin has enough racks. I'll donate whatever time needs to be.
BubblemanYeah, Kevin needs more racks. That's hurting.
SpeakerWell, let's get him some more racks, man. I'll fucking build him some tomorrow.
AaronHey, are we going to do Hash Church from Bananibus?
BubblemanIn Spanibus, we're going to do Hash Church. I'm going to leave Hash Church, or sorry, leave Spanibus, or not go to Spanibus, the venue that morning. I'm going to try and meet up with Todd McCormick and a select group of people that want to come and go to Ben's Hemp Museum.
AaronI'll go.
BubblemanYeah, it's just for a couple hours. It'll be in the morning. We'll do it early, and so it'll only be like we show up a little, you know, not late, late in the afternoon. Maybe it's even we show up at 11 or 12, depending on... Even if we can do a couple hours, it would be pretty killer. Todd's been showing me the venue. It's so epic and ridiculous that if it happens, we'll all be very lucky to be a part of that one, I think.
BubblemanI think it'll give great exposure to the Hemp Museum as well. Ben's done such a lot of work in collecting all these different historical parts of the cannabis history worldwide, and then he creates this unbelievably meticulous, epic... Like artistic building. If you know Barcelona and then you know this building that he got and how beautiful it is and the wood and it's all just kind of ridiculous.
BubblemanI hope that we can film there because that would be pretty cool.
SpeakerMagical.
BubblemanYeah, totally magical. Might even have to do a short little Bubble Man's episode on that as well.
SpeakerIn Madrid.
BubblemanYeah, that's up in Madrid, exactly. Just north, I think, of Madrid actually. You just go north 20 miles, and then you go south 420 miles. Just a short donkey ride.
SpeakerStraight donkey ride the whole way. God, could you imagine if I donkey ride in? Aaron would be like, man, where have you been? Into Spandavus. Into Spandavus the whole time. Where have you been? I'm like, man, I've been on a donkey ride. 400 donkey rides. That hurts my brain.
BubblemanJust remember if you're going to rent a motorcycle while you're there, Tony, bring a helmet.
SpeakerOh, Jesus, yes. I'm really excited to see all of you guys' footage, so take lots so I can be there as well in spirit.
AaronThat's why Tony's there. No shortage. In Madrid, to take footage. Yep. Going to take some footage in Madrid.
BubblemanPurpose. Hey, what about the skate team, Aaron? Can we get a little footage of them doing some cool shit during the five or six days that I'm in Barcelona?
AaronI'm sure we can arrange that.
BubblemanYeah, just even if it's one little session at the skate park, I could go down and meet them and get some video of that, because... They gave me footage one year, and I think I used a little bit of it, but I'd like to showcase them a little bit more.
AaronI'll call the boss. Call the boss. Is that Eduardo? Eduardo, yeah, he's going to be arranging it. I've got to call the other boss to call him, because my Espanol is no bueno, Holmes.
BubblemanOh, yeah, yeah, that dude definitely doesn't speak English.
AaronYeah. How about you, True? How's your Spanish going? Poco.
SpeakerPoco. But I need to learn fast. Yeah, I know, huh? Very fast. This is the mother of all inventions. Once I'm immersed, I'm sure I'll soon pick it up.
BubblemanTrue. Or as they say in Jamaica, Seen. Seen.
SpeakerOr in Northwest London, too.
BubblemanNorthwest London, too, eh? Yeah. Interesting. Peace, everybody.
SpeakerGo on a pig out on cabbage rolls.
BubblemanOh, shit. Have a good one, D. Good to see you, everybody.
SpeakerWe'll see you next week.
BubblemanPeace.
BubblemanI'm going to hit some D420K right now. Always get jealous when you say that. Dude, as if the guy just gives me like an ounce of it.
SpeakerHe's like, I got some dry sift for you. Here's 12 cans, fucking 2 grams each, blah, blah. I was just like, what?
BubblemanAre you fucking kidding me? That's like 99% pure heads. He's like, come on, man. I wouldn't have this shit if it wasn't for you. And I'm like, OK. But still, that's like very generous.
SpeakerSo I just share it with everyone.
SpeakerNothing better than turning up when someone else has got a fire and you can swap and not feel like you lost out. Yeah, no doubt.
PhilOh, shibby.
SpeakerLooking forward to some nice glass as well for Spannabis. Always a treat when everyone brings over their heavy glass for us.
BubblemanYeah, I'll see if Flav's coming. I haven't talked to him yet, but if he doesn't come, maybe I'll just convince him to let me bring like the Buck Marcel Angler or something.
SpeakerI'd be afraid to look at it for too long. Dude, I would never.
BubblemanI would never. You know what? I wouldn't even travel with any of his pieces. Fuck that. But I would particularly I would never travel with the Buck Marcel Angler, which is the fish, for those of you that don't know, that is like The most gnarly, ridiculous piece. I think it's one of my favorites in Flav's collection. And every time I hit it, I feel like it's really, like really an honor.
BubblemanIt's kind of trippy. Oh, it's just hitting me up like crazy here.
SpeakerYeah, as well, to hit out all those different rigs that a Dampen Gallery had, that was pretty crazy to see so many different types of glass functioning and get them all out and really see the craftsmanship behind them rather than just photographs on Instagram. I'm so stoked on this little bad boy. Oh bro, I love that. So nice. So nice. I know another friend that recently picked one up and he's just overjoyed.
SpeakerI've never heard a complaint from anyone.
BubblemanIt's just... Well, I'll tell you, last week at Hash Church, my one complaint is that A, you have to announce the value of the piece to anyone that thinks they're going to assume anything about the piece. And so the last time at Hash Church, I don't know at what point it was, But one of the guys came and visited a friend here, and he came up to the pipe, and then he like banged his ring on the pipe three times hard.
BubblemanAnd he did it first with his finger, and I was like, okay, that's kind of cool, but kind of not cool. I was kind of like feeling like probably Cuban grower when Buddy was fingering. And so, but then he did the ding, ding, ding, and I had my mic muted, but I would have literally been like, what are you fucking doing?
HoratioYeah.
SpeakerNow you go, I've got a rule now, because I've been in a situation recently where I had someone else's rig I was in charge of, and it was a Marcel Braun piece, a very beautiful one. And the minute anyone got anywhere near the mantle piece, I made them aware, like that's several thousands of pounds, like be warned, don't touch it unless you're prepared to pay it. And it seems brutal sometimes and you have to quickly say it and you don't have time to soften the politeness, but I think people need to know very quickly.
BubblemanIt's better than letting people be stupid and break your peace. Watch it disintegrate in front of them and then go... I'm going to need 3,500 pounds.
SpeakerYeah, exactly. It's not a good look. So sometimes I'm a bit like, whoa, whoa, hey, be careful. Don't go near that. It costs a lot of money. It's five grand. And they're like, okay, I don't even want to touch it. But before that, they want to like hold it upside down and they want to do shit. I know. A couple of dollars. The amount of times the craziest thing was that it had a downstem in it, and one of my friends took off the dome and turned it upside down to look at the bottom, and the downstem luckily didn't fall out.
SpeakerBut as you know, Marcel has worked downstems that are incredible. So to see that, and I thought he understood. He's like, no, don't worry, I'll take off them, and then he just flipped down. Frightening shit. Frightening shit.
BubblemanThat's good for a heart attack right there. Yeah.
AaronI love you guys. Peace out.
BubblemanWe're all going. This is the end of Hash Church. I want to thank everyone for hanging out for four hours and 36 minutes. That was wicked. True, always a pleasure. Aaron, big thanks. Cuban Grower, thanks for showing up, buddy. Horatio, always a pleasure, brother. Jen Doe, Johnny B., Kay from the Trichome Heavy Extracts Labs. Say hi to Jim for me, brother. And Tony.
SpeakerSay hi to Jim.
BubblemanCouldn't do it without you, brother. Everyone, peace.
SpeakerPeace.
