SpeakerIt's a starting boom.
BubblemanHey, everybody. Welcome to Hash Church, episode 27, Whistler Black Home with my good buddy, Devin, and... He's starting Hash Church off right proper today. Been a few weeks since he's got to hit the Hash Church wake and bake. Of course, I've been to Jamaica, through Toronto, through Germany, through Spain. I definitely want to start out by saying thank you to everyone that was concerned for me. When I left Barcelona, of course, you guys have probably heard The terrible news that happened, a gentleman decided to take his own life and he decided he would fly his plane.
Mark ScaldoniHey everybody, welcome to Hash Church.
BubblemanHey, I wouldn't be Hash Church if I didn't do that. That's 27 times for me.
BubblemanYeah, I felt sick to my stomach anyway when I landed. My phone blew up. Tony and many other people were blowing me up hard to find out what was going on. I'm happy to say that I was not on that plane. But I'm very sad and sorry for those that were on that plane and that lost their lives leaving Barcelona that day. Hey, welcome, Etienne.
Etienne FontanHello, Mark. How are you? How are you doing, buddy? I'm doing good. Again, with a heavy heart about that situation while we were there. It got a lot of response from people because, yeah, we were all in Barcelona. So, I mean, we were wondering ourselves if anybody we had seshed with Thank you so much for joining us today.
Etienne FontanEye-opener to what's truly happening in Spain. I was there five years ago representing BPG, but it was nothing. I mean, it has grown exponentially in five years, as you know. You know, it's grown from just being inside to outside as well.
SpeakerHi, Todd.
BubblemanYes, welcome, Todd and John. We were just giving a little bit of a quiet moment for the people who lost their lives on the plane leaving Barcelona there. Of course, we're going to talk about that a little bit because a lot of people were hitting up Myself and other people who had left that morning. There were quite a few people. I believe Burner left that morning as well.
BubblemanPeople weren't sure if he was on that plane and some other people. So I don't know. Why don't we start off with a little moment of silence in Hash Church and just light a rip for 150 lost souls.
BubblemanOh my goodness, so on a lighter note, how is Amsterdam, Todd and Lauren?
BubblemanHello.
ToddHi.
SpeakerYou guys look baked. It's been a long day in Amsterdam. It's not often that Todd looks that baked. I'm just going to say that. It's 6 o'clock at night in Amsterdam above the Haas Museum.
BubblemanYou kind of got this bedhead thing going on too. I love it. Like you are baked, bro. Let's all try and get where Todd and Lauren are.
Etienne FontanWe need to get where Todd and Lauren are.
BubblemanAnd I'm not making fun of your hair by any means. Someone with hair that looks like this does not make fun of hair. And Etienne's not making fun of your hair. Johnny B's not making fun.
SpeakerI had a shower this morning. I had a shower.
BubblemanHey, have a good day.
SpeakerI did take a shower this morning. It's awesome. But we even get higher today at the Green Hub. I mean, at Bulldog. God, we got so high we forgot where we were. Really? You went to the Bulldog?
BubblemanLike the strip of Bulldogs near the Dam Rack or over in the Leids of Plain?
SpeakerWell, I got to have drinks and hang out with Hank on Friday because he's going to be a sponsor of the THC Expo. And then today I hung out with Chad at the Leids of Plain Friday and then today I was at The hotel, which is beautiful, man. You know, I've never gone into the Bulldog Hotel until today, and I was blown away, honestly. Now, you're not talking about the private apartment of the Bulldog in the Light Supply, are you?
SpeakerNo, not in the Light Supply. No, no. But over here, I'm in the Red Light District. I'm just above the Hash Museum. It's right next door to the Krasnopolsky. Where you were staying last time. You're just right on the other block on Z. Yeah, we're right next, we're very close. Dude, they have a downstairs area that is absolutely beautiful, man. Pool table, great atmosphere, awesome food. And the way they split it up is they sell the grass and hash downstairs so that upstairs they have a normal bar.
BubblemanNow, you know how I found that place?
SpeakerIt's really amazing.
BubblemanHow I found that place was one time when I was staying at the Krasnopolsky, there's a little courtyard in the middle of the apartments and if you've ever stayed, come and visit me at my apartment. I often take people this back way that's just like through the kitchen and through this weird little side door and up these stairs and in that courtyard, there's a window against the back wall and if you look through that window, it's basically the downstairs at the Bulldog.
SpeakerWow.
BubblemanYeah, I remember being in one day and being like, what the fuck? This place looks cool. Like, got a pool table in there. It's always packed full of people. And when I walked around the front and realized it was the Bulldog, I was like, that definitely surprised me. Hey, welcome, Tony Verzura and Horatio Delbert in the house. We got Dabs over Denver. We got, jeez, I don't even know.
BubblemanHoratio's a man in many hats these days. It's hard to pick one.
SpeakerJust give him one.
BubblemanOh, Tony, is that the new gorilla? That looks like Shatter.
SpeakerDoesn't it?
BubblemanSo Tony's been adding terpenes to his rosin and creating terpzon, terpsin?
SpeakerTerp rosin.
BubblemanWell, we've always got a forward. Forward ever, backwards never. I have to say... I know a lot of people were upset last week when we spoke about rosin for the entire Hash Church. Guaranteed, it's going to be a topic today because it's the newest thing that we're all doing. So, of course, when it's the newest thing that the people are doing, look at that. That is ridiculous.
Etienne FontanThat's awesome. Well, it was the first time I got to try rosin, and I've had a dispensary for 15 years. So, it was actually fun to actually be exposed to it and to try something new altogether.
SpeakerHe's got the dog.
BubblemanNice. Good on the muting, Fletch. That was some proper muting right there. I know I'm always bitching, but I'm going to give props to Fletcher with how quick he was on his mute button there. We all need a really quick, you never know when the dog's going to erupt or when the wife might be yelling at you.
SpeakerWhat I also think is that I think it's cool that you've got a panel of people in the industry that... Care about, you know, the ultimate, the ultimate purest resin. So then there's also, you know, there's a lot of influence out there in the world. And if there's safe and safe way to create an extract resin from flowers, you know, eight to 10 grams of flowers to one gram of concentrate, and you can do it in a very safe way at home.
SpeakerI think it's kind of neat and cool that everybody on the panel has pushed hard to explore it as far as we could go with it. And it evolved very quickly from rosin from flowers to rosin from hash. So I take 73, 120, 90s, 45s and tried to explore it as far as I could and adding terps back into it to stabilize it. When somebody was asking me, well, how do you stabilize the coin?
SpeakerYou know, it's just that we're still tweaking with it, and I think that it's still got a little ways to go, but as far as, you know, taking something that's like as pure as that, I mean, that's glass. As clear as it gets, it's the closest thing I've ever tasted to like a live resin where it tastes just like the plant. I wouldn't say that, I wouldn't say that it's like maybe as tangy Thank you for watching.
BubblemanWell, okay, well, yeah, let's, yeah, gee, I don't know. Like, what does that? Fucking started greasing before Jeff applied heat, which I would like to welcome Jeff, who's laughing right now because he knows it's true. And Fletcher, welcome, guys. Yeah, how's it going? It's good, man. We're just talking about rosinating the 90 microns and the higher grade hashes now.
SpeakerYeah, this is from a 45. This is 45 glue.
SpeakerSo it looks like, it looks just like a shatter. It looks identical to shatter, dude. Yeah.
BubblemanThat hardened outside edge that the terpene mist has given it.
SpeakerHere's another one. It looks just like shatter. But, you know, what I was going to say is that what I've noticed with different temperatures, like I started with what Jeff was saying at 235, and I won't go past 235, like this is, this one, This was around 220, 221, which is the activation point of THC. And so if you think about decarboxylating or getting things like past 235 or 280, 284 is the final kind of, 284 to 293 is where you're fully going to activate THC.
SpeakerSo anything past that.
BubblemanBut only after a certain amount of time because Jeff, I believe, is doing it just under 300 degrees. Had his rosin tested and 90% of the THC present was in acid form, meaning it was not converted. Because he only presses for five seconds, maximum ten seconds or whatever. And then he also had, I think it was hash, he would have to comment on that, but also that the fact that caryophyllene was present, one of the most volatile of terpenes, the terpene that drug dogs are tested for, because it's so volatile, it's always in the air, it can breach through plastic, it's extremely caustic, that one even was still present in the testing.
BubblemanWhich also shows, I mean, I think you're right. If we can lower the temperatures and increase the pressure, now pressure does equal heat, but possibly the pressure might be able to bring us lower heat temperatures. If we can get into a lower temperature using more pressure, we might be able to extract the resin without exposing it to as much heat. Now, the one thing I'll say that is a very strong argument, and the first time I heard Jeff say it, I was a little bit kind of like, It took me a few times to hear it, and I mentioned it to you yesterday, Tony, and the fact that people talking about terpene degradation, yes, there's no doubt about that terpenes are going to be released, lost, degraded, but the loss of the wax membrane, the ratio of wax membrane to oil is so great when you lose the wax membrane, you increase the percentage of the oil by so much that instead of losing terpenes, you're actually gaining terpene content.
SpeakerYeah.
BubblemanCounterintuitive. That's heavy.
SpeakerThat's heavy. That's super fascinating. And that's why I said to you yesterday when I was making, I actually made the coin with you on a little chat, but that was just an exercise to say, okay, you know, for this one, for this one, this is the, this is Lemon OG with the glue 73. And so when we were talking about that, If you're making a dry sift, that's a little different than the full melt because if it's being exposed to water, then you're losing certain terpenes in the water.
SpeakerSo this water extraction, and so what I did was I basically pulled all of the essential oils and terpenes and put them back into this water. After it's basically been de-waxed, so it's like if you're taking a 73U, you're squeezing the heads, you're basically taking the shells or the husks of that trichome head and that's, you're putting them on one side of the screen and you're pushing the oils and the terpenes through on the other and then you whip in back the original terpenes and it's, honestly it's, I'm shocked myself about how good it tastes.
BubblemanWhat I have here is just one last little rip of Some sweet skunk that I cleaned over a 70 micron screen, dry sifted. And this was the stuff that went through the screen, meaning it was what I would consider contaminant. I then took like about half a gram of that contaminant, pushed it through the screen with the rosin heat, and got about three dabs like this. So it's not what I would call my favorite heads by any means, but the fact of the matter is I am surprised at how strong, at how tasty, And how overall, I would just never compare it to like, well, pretty much the same thing your 45 turned in there.
BubblemanYou call that 45, but it's almost like a disservice to call it 45, the way you've increased the quality of it by further decontaminating. You know, we've gotten, bubble hash always blew people away because it was the first time people were able to isolate resin glands to a 99%. Ratio, of course, guys like the Skunk Man, guys like, I should say guy like, the only person on the planet most likely doing it for as long as he's been doing it.
BubblemanHe had access to the 99% heads, but the rest of us didn't. And that's what Waterhash really, it took things to this next level. People used to pass out when they smoked it. It was so strong because they'd never smoked a decontaminated product so close to what I would call the unadulterated cannabinoid high. You know, now this is once again taking something we thought was so clean, 99% heads, and now we're decontaminating the wax from the oils, and it's just this sort of revelatory kind of... You know, I'm not sure what we'll learn in the loss of that wax membrane.
BubblemanI know that from a smoker's perspective, which is pretty much what's led me through all of this in all these years... I'm not hitting rosin every single hit. I'm still hitting dry sift and full melt, but I'm having a blast playing around. That's what I'm most excited about about this, that I feel that there's going to be new discoveries, and it's why we keep talking about it for those that are like, oh, no, they're talking about rosin again.
SpeakerWell, and the other thing is we've always talked about is terpenes as modulators, so we know, so a lot of people don't maybe understand this, but, We're going to talk a little bit about what we're going to talk about today. We're going to talk a little bit about what we're going to talk about today.
SpeakerAnd then you oxidize the oil, and you look at the heads themselves, and that's what I was talking about online the last couple days, was now when you're doing a 99% dry sift head, if you want the purest form, you would then take those heads, look under a scope, and you would make sure that all the maturity levels of those heads, whether they're clear, or they're milky, or they're amber, or they're ripe, you have to segregate those, because then when you start squeezing out the...
SpeakerRemember the heads and you're de-waxing those heads out, you'll have little particulates from those insides of those heads. And so there's even a way to get a cleaner and that's why I only have this much of this because it was like I went through there and looked through and tried to make sure there was just zero left in it. And I found that, and it's still to be explored, but I think the response and how long it lasts What I'm noticing is the difference.
SpeakerI still will press out the full melter and everything, and I think there's maybe more of a plant taste to it than there is more of that pure resin, essential oil taste of the plant. I even smoked the hash that was on the inside part of the screen, just to see what that would taste like. There's no melt left of it, but it tastes like the plant.
SpeakerAnd so, but what I was talking to you about with Jibs and Kevin yesterday before they took off was that they thought that the rosin was like leaving them wanting to smoke it more. But then once we started changing it to the hash, doing it to the hash rosin, I felt it lasted quite a bit longer. The response was completely different. And I think that's what we're going to find is Hey, I wanted to welcome Mark Scaldoni, even though I think he just got up and left the room, and of course I want to welcome our good friend Big Buddha.
Mark ScaldoniLisa, I just want to chime in for a second and talk about this whole de-waxing thought about rosin. You know, we're definitely removing some contaminant from the rosin, you know, from the bubble hash when we turn it into rosin. But I would say that the wax is actually melted. You know, every wax that I know of melts at temperatures of 230 degrees or higher. That's going to melt.
Mark ScaldoniAnd so what I really believe is it's more of the Thank you for watching.
SpeakerIn a 99% or a grain alcohol, let them sit in a dish. So I'm actually preserving that to actually test that. So I'm doing like a washing station with a little bowl to kind of contain all that except for the final That's, you know what I mean?
Mark ScaldoniSo I think that there's definitely some wax that's going to stay in there. There's some cannabinoids and some terpenes that stay inside the pressing screen. So we're not going to be able to get everything to come out. My point is, you know, a lot of people are calling this de-waxing bubble hash. And I think that's a little bit of a misnomer. And that we're, you know, we're removing the, you know, the stock and things like that that are contaminant, plant material, and any cellulose that may construct the head.
Mark ScaldoniYou know, that cellulose membrane that kind of holds the head together, there's definitely that outer shell has some constituents that are not going to be liquid. But the waxes and lipids that kind of make up the whole scenario, I just believe that they're coming through for the most part. Some will be held behind.
BubblemanSo the term will be decontaminated, further decontaminated.
SpeakerAnd what you're saying is the right term would be cellulose, not wax.
Etienne FontanAnd once we have the science to back that up, I think we will all completely get behind that.
BubblemanOkay. Well, let's ask science what he thinks about that.
ToddWell, okay, there's a few things. And so I believe that this is a thermal as well as mechanical extraction process. I believe that there's actually a physical compromise of the heads that's happening during this process, as well as you're heating the liquid in the trichome above its boiling point, and so instantly you're going to flash that stuff away from We're going to go ahead and get started in about a minute or so.
ToddThe terpene profile that exists on the plant as opposed to thermally rearrangement as Tony suggests. So when you heat up terpenes, especially the more fragile ones, they rearrange into other terpenes. And the other thing that you always have to keep in mind is that, yeah, there could be decarboxylation that could be happening in this process and perhaps That, in and of itself, is, again, changing the pharmacokinetics of the profile, which is why the high feels different or lasts longer.
ToddThere could be some oxidation of the CDN, too, as well. Here's a question.
BubblemanNow, when we're, say, going to smoke a nice dab of bubble hash, And we heat it up on the nail and we drop it on the nail. Now, we haven't turned it into rosin. We're like, no, I don't want to do that rosin because it changes the molecule of the terpene and it affects my head. But then he's going to put it on like a 5 or 6 or 700 degree nail, heat it up.
BubblemanIs it not going to rearrange those molecules instantaneously?
ToddYeah, absolutely. The question is not why will it rearrange. The question is why won't it because you're heating it up in a very oxygen-rich environment Those molecules are going to change. You can't keep that from happening. The other thing, and I don't know, Bob and Ben, when we were just talking about the waxy sheath on the trichomes, you've got to remember that a lot of those are phospholipids that maintain the membrane, and those compounds aren't volatile.
ToddThey'll actually thermally decompose to smaller compounds, and those are the Same compounds that you get when you degrade most vegetable oils in the presence of air. They become rancid. Those are the compounds that you're making on the nail when you're thermalizing stuff that has not been de-waxed. Period. End of story. Some of those are noxious compounds that you don't necessarily want pulling into your lungs.
BubblemanAnd so are these what the nucleation points, those semi-polar and polar?
ToddYeah, yeah, yep, yep, very well. You know, Mark, I have no data, there's no data out there, but I would bet that that's highly likely, that those are exactly those nucleation points that we've talked about in some of the crystallization threads. Absolutely.
SpeakerExplain that a little bit more now that we're finally to this topic when everybody's caught up.
ToddYeah, so I think the original discussion was from Jen Doe, right? Do I remember this right?
BubblemanYes, I believe so. She's actually going to be heading into the room real soon.
ToddOh, cool. Awesome. Jen, as everyone knows in Hash Church, is an incredible hash maker, and it's great to have that sort of... A level of experience for me to collaborate with anyway because she's been making hash for a while, at least that she knows to look at for certain things when she's making hash. And there was some discussion on whether or not crystallization is actually something that would be desirable.
ToddAnd she showed, I think in the little video on her Facebook thread, something that underwent full melt, completely melted. And look pretty sweet. So the question is, well, what's happening physically in the crystallization process? And so as you know, most of these compounds by themselves, like either CBD or THC in their acid forms, when they're highly purified, will be crystalline. And what keeps them from being purified in extracts mostly are some of the waxy and polar components that, yes, could serve as nucleation points for crystallization.
ToddAnd so in that thread we talk a lot about emulsions and what happens on buttering and the process of basically when you concentrate a cannabis extract which is not water soluble down to a point where the trace amount of water that is present in the extract is going to start interacting to start making a second phase. The polar components that are in the extract can serve As what are called surfactants or soap like molecules to help stabilize the emulsion and that's what you're seeing in a butter is you're seeing an emulsion just like cooking butter which is an emulsion between a fat, the fat layer and the water layer of butter and it's the polar molecules that are in there that sort of stabilize that emulsion.
ToddSo oil and vinegar is also an emulsion when you shake it up it becomes one phase but Quite quickly, it'll separate out into two phases. So some of the polar molecules that you find can basically compatibilize these two phases together. And again, a perfect example is milk. We have a lot of fat that's infinitely soluble in basically a water-based medium, which is milk. You can infinitely dilute milk and it will never oil out.
ToddThat's because, again, there are molecules that are in the extract that help solubilize the fat in water. How this relates to hash and extract is that the phospholipid membranes that the waxy coatings are made out of and what you get in an extraction All of these molecules will react when you heat them up.
ToddThe decarboxylation and the thermal vaporization of THC into the mucosa membrane is certainly a very powerful, quick, rapid way to deliver THC. You've got to remember that CBD, especially going through the gut, can be metabolized into other metabolites. So it all depends on your method of delivery too as well.
BubblemanWell, thanks for the knowledge drop, dude. What did you guys think of that? That was just wonderful. I mean, man, we're starting Hash Church off strong. 475 people right now are like, shut the front door. What did that guy say? I got a question. Jeez, Todd.
SpeakerDoes anybody think that the trichrome exerts any of the terpenes? Or is that trapped in that waxy layer on the leaf, the cuticle layer, that we kind of de-wax sometimes up?
ToddYeah, so any solvent, like if you had hexane or butane or any of these hydrocarbon solvents completely melts those membranes and solubilizes those compounds. And I think the other thing that you always have to keep in mind is that, again, depends on how long. That process is, I mean, I don't know if any butane extractors have any experience on changing the residency time of the solvent. It would certainly depend on whether or not you can get to all of the trichomes.
ToddAnd dissolve everything?
SpeakerNo, it wasn't an extraction question. It's a secretion question because technically if the terpenes are not being excreted by the trichromes and we're only harvesting trichromes, we're leaving behind a great amount of the terpenes that the plant produces because I would argue that the terpenes are in that waxy cuticle layer that's all over the leaf material and the fract and the parts of the plant that otherwise are not trichromes.
SpeakerYeah, because if the membrane is holding in the cannabinoids, then is that membrane secreting terpenes? And I would say it's not.
Etienne FontanYeah. We need to actually see science as the actual rosin and what's left over to actually see what technically is still left over. And I do agree that If THC, when it is ingested, how it's ingested, does turn to a lexohydroxy metabolite, why wouldn't CBD and some of these other chemicals also go through difficult chemical changes depending on ingestion and what along with ingestion, especially if it's an edible?
ToddDr. Yeah, they do. They do. You can't keep that from happening. But to go back to what Todd was saying, I think he was saying is, you know, the terpenes are ubiquitous throughout the plant. They serve a variety of different purposes. And in fact, the biosynthetic machinery that makes terpenes is not just localized in the head of the trichome. It's everywhere. Those molecules are required for plant metabolism, for uptake of nutrients.
ToddYeah, I mean, the biosynthetic pathway that makes terpenes is one of the fundamental pathways in plants that makes not only protective molecules, but molecules that are used in the structure and the strata of the plant cell itself.
Mark ScaldoniSo, Fletch and I have been noticing that when we look at cannabis under the microscope, you know, you see the bulbous trikes that are on the surface as well as the trikes that are on the captive stock. And so, you know, really when you're making hashish, bubble hash, 73 micron, that's going to be just the heads that are on the stock. But when you look deeper down below, there's all these tiny, I mean, they're not even perfectly round some of them.
Mark ScaldoniSome look like little shards of crystals, basically. And what we believe, and we don't have any scientific proof, but that's where a lot of the smell is. That is in a really smelly canvas strain. I mean, we notice it on like OGs. There's way, way, way more. I mean, like eight to one ratio of those little heads. Micro trikes. Of the micro trikes to the 73 micron size bulbous trikes.
Mark ScaldoniAnd so, you know, what I've been thinking is, you know, with the flour rosin, by having it pressed from flour, you're actually getting more terpenes than you would have been able to get without having, you know, by pressing it from hatch.
SpeakerRight, yeah, I mean, basically, what I've seen, you know, for the last 10 years, I've taken single strain, single clone varieties and seed varieties and extracted them with bubble bags. And I've noticed over the years after, you know, after about five years as I moved away from the stock trichome varieties more and ended up in a lot of the greasy stuff, right? All your OGs, Schrams, Chem's.
SpeakerSome of the Chem's produce well. Sour Diesel does well as well. But after buying a microscope, I don't know, three or four years ago, I really started looking into the different types of trichomes on the surface of the plant. And there are stock trichomes. There's definitely the non-stock trichomes. To be honest, I'm not positive exactly what it is on the surface of the plant, but on the very surface of the plant, there's these tiny, tiny microtranks, probably less than 15 microns in size, and they're everywhere.
SpeakerOn the greasy strains, not as much on stock strains like white rhino and stuff like that that's always produced great bubble hash for me. These strains Don't produce, even though the herb tests out 25% THC, it won't produce bubble hash, period. Or at least not large volumes of 70 to 160 micron, even though I look at that material under a microscope before I even wash it, and I know the resin's there.
SpeakerIt's just being lost in translation somewhere. And I know Cuban also had This problem, when he ran some of our trim for the Legends entries or whatever, it was just really, really greasy strands. Granted, we could over-dry it and get those trichomes dry, but we like those fresh terpenes that are still present. That's one thing I've run into, and those microtriches, or whatever they are, are present.
SpeakerI think with flower rosin, you may be getting a lot of that, whereas with a lot of other extraction methods, except for BHO, you're not. Solvent-based methods, you definitely will strip it. Dr. I got something interesting for you. I think what Jeff's saying is pretty interesting, and what Fletch is saying, because that's where it comes back to when you're talking about the different levels of the bigger heads, the medium-sized, and then there's just the resin and essential oils that are on the plant.
SpeakerThat's why I went to the terpene extraction. I do have CBD rosin. So this is CBD rosin. And this is from CBD plant material, not from hash. And so we haven't tested this yet. And I think what Jeff's saying is pretty interesting because if you take the plant itself and you know you have these different layers of the way that the plant is building upon its cannabinoids and terpene sequences from the surface of the leaf on up, And you know that CO2, butane, and water have different polarity poles on it.
SpeakerWhat's actually happening when we're just taking the whole plant or smashing that plant? We're doing it under the 121 degree mark. So now we're not even activating it. And now we're pushing out all the essential oils. We're pushing out everything that plant has to offer. And what if this shit's right here? Because this smells identical. To CBD oil. In fact, it smells better. It smells exactly the same.
SpeakerRight. That's exactly what we're seeing. We're seeing the exact same results, Tony. And I really think that it is those microtrikes. I've been telling people about this for years, and no one really believes me until I show them under the microscope, that there is all this resin that is not in... You're stocked or, you know, surface bulbous trichomes.
BubblemanYeah, they're bulbous. Those trichomes are bulbous. The ones you're talking about that have no stocks, that are just on the leaves, those are bulbous trichomes.
SpeakerThat's not what I'm talking about. There's these little tiny trichomes that are much smaller than those bulbous trichomes.
BubblemanI've photographed them with my camera. They are bulbous trichomes.
SpeakerYeah, there's, um, but there is essential, there is essential... Oh, I don't know. Like I'm saying, I don't claim to know.
BubblemanRob writes about them in the book, Hashish.
SpeakerWell, the strain I'm dealing with here right now, the Haley's Comet, I was in talking with Cheryl about this, and this is this high CBD strain, and I've been trying to make Rosen with it. I'm getting nothing. When I try to dry sift it, I get very little, which you know, Mark. I did that one little hit with you, and with the bubble hash, same thing, but yet it's so fragrant, and it helps this young girl so much, but I can't get any extractions from it.
SpeakerI find that very puzzling.
BubblemanHave you tried coconut oil?
SpeakerPardon me?
BubblemanHave you tried coconut oil?
SpeakerI haven't done the coconut oil extraction. That's the only thing we haven't done. I mean, as in that, we just normally decarboxylate it and then grind it up, put it in pills, and bring it to the hospital.
BubblemanI bet you it'll concentrate in the coconut oil. We're able to get it.
SpeakerYeah, I haven't gone to that extent. I know Cheryl's made like VHO with it. I've tried making Rosen with it the last couple of days. I'm doing it again right now. I can't make dry sip with it, and the bubble hash is like pathetic, so.
BubblemanYeah, because those are all mostly mechanical separations, but the coconut oil should melt those, any gland that's present off of that material.
SpeakerYeah, I'm going to try the coconut oil extraction. That might be another, the next product. Yeah, it's safe in the kitchen. What you're talking about, one thing I'm seeing is, the last one thing I'll be trying to do is get those, that resin from this particular plant, so I find it very interesting that maybe it is, and we'll do the coconut oil next time. And then there's coconut oil has its own polarity too.
SpeakerSo remember the other day we were talking about talking to this new guy, Yorosh, this PhD with biology and microbiology that just joined our team. And he was talking to us about different strains of different recessive or genes that will express And I talked to Jibs about this yesterday. And generally the plant itself will lay the grid out of trichomes and where those big bulbous heads and stalks will be.
SpeakerAnd they're generally laid in a grid if you look at it under a microscope. And then once in a while you'll get a gene that expresses to where instead of them giving their equal distances apart from each other, these little stalks that spread out. Let's say if we were looking at it on a big macro level, these stalks would be You know, five feet apart from each other in a big world.
SpeakerAnd so now sometimes you'll get a certain strain that expresses a different type of gene that isn't very dominant in the plant where the stocks will then fight for that space in between the stocks. So instead of them being five feet apart on a grid, now all these stocks are fighting for the space in between. And so, Chip told me he's come across a couple of those strains before, and it's very difficult, interesting enough, very difficult to get the stalks separated in a water extraction, because what's happening is you've got these, the stalks that are fighting for every which way, and it's like a whole bunch of trees growing on each other, versus, say, a forest of trees that perfectly spreads out.
SpeakerAnd so, I think that as we study different strains and different expression, We've got a lot of different types of strains, CBD versus THC, and the reason why they extract differently, better in different categories, will be a combination of how the formation of those cannabinoids are spread out or not, and the different layers of getting on the top of the stalks versus the oil surface area of the plant.
SpeakerThat's, I do think that this has a future though, with CBD material and whole plant material, especially with fresh plant material. So now as John's, I'm sure... I started doing this too, but if you start looking at, especially CBD material, and especially for the people that are home and trying to grow CBD, and they're trying to grow CBD-rich strains, I would say even one-to-one strains, because those are going to give you the best chance, because you don't know if pure CBD is really your miracle, your one.
SpeakerSo if you're a home grower and you're in a country and it's not legal and you're growing one-to-one, This rosin tech has a very strong potential of being able to help the home user extract CBD oil, whole plant, fresh, whole plant CBD oil. And like Bubble Man said, you know, combining that into a coconut oil like this, into a coconut oil will spread that medicine out. And so now, you know, the people that are really in need and at home and there's kids at home and they're just struggling to get stuff, I think it opens up the gate a lot more for global healing, in my opinion.
SpeakerAnd I think it needs to be explored even further. So I'm interested to see how far this really goes, especially with the CBD material. That's my two cents. I like that.
SpeakerI'm pleased that through the plant cycle too, Tony, we can take that fresh plant out and start getting to the ratios and finding when the cannabinoids develop. And being able to now harvest in those days and be able to start playing with different profiles from the home user. I was just by taking fresh frozen bud out, just pressing it out, just playing with it. It was a little milky, but I was able to actually get resin from fresh plant matter.
SpeakerI was playing with it last night. It's not going to be the way I'm going to go, but I'm just seeing how much more research we can do with this. It's a lot of fun. I mean, if I can start taking down plants on day 37 and day... Day 39, day 45, when the cannabinoids are being developed, we can start taking those ratios and mixing them with day 60 and bringing things up and being able to start maybe taking a better look at and to helping people at home all the time.
SpeakerYou can have a lot of fun with this. I'm totally stoked on it, to be honest. It's like thumbs up, big time.
BubblemanWell, we've got 541 people. I think it's time to smoke a bowl. There hasn't been that much puffing going on because people have been dropping the nollies, and that's always appreciated. People love that, but I think all 536 people watching right now should light up their spliff, light up their chalice, because we're going to smoke down Buckingham Palace. Peter Tosh lyrics, for those of you that don't know.
BubblemanFor the rest of you, bubble on.
Mark ScaldoniSo we got a little picture. It's not the very best because it's on an iPhone. It's on there, Jeff. Yeah, but basically, you know, we've got a picture of one stock that has a gland head on it. And then there's all these little tiny white spots, which you can see a lot better when you're actually looking through the microscope, but it's what we're talking about. All those heads.
Mark ScaldoniYeah, well, okay, so we looked around also, and we found some bulbous heads that were on the surface. They were non-stock bulbous heads that were slightly smaller. Now, I don't have one of those in the picture. I have a stock strike right there. But all these little tiny white spots are what we're talking about. You can see them right down there on the surface. Little speckles everywhere.
Mark ScaldoniI mean, they outnumber the stock resin heads. You also had, uh,
SpeakerThe hairs, and I've always looked at those as like the immunity support system for the plant. So when people are looking at that image that Jeff showed, he's actually past the hair follicles of the immune system and even deeper into the surface of that. And so when you're getting in close like that, because I use a 2,000 plus microscope, it goes 2 to 10,000, and it So do you see the anthocyanin inside the systolic hair?
SpeakerYeah, I do.
SpeakerAnd I've also taken a scope of 2,000 of just the cross-section of that head, and I've shown that to you before, Bubble Man, and it looks like a brain. It literally has the circuitry and the look of a complete brain inside the head.
Mark ScaldoniYeah, it's got that rosette disc where the phenols and the terpenes are created, and then they basically get excreted out of that disc that looks like a brain into the head, and you've got just all this cannabinoid soup floating around in there. But yeah, it's like, from what I've read, it's glucose is the substrate inside that disc, and then there's little vacuoles and plastids of phenols and terpenes.
BubblemanTerpenes, yep.
Mark ScaldoniThat mix together and when they, basically when those vacuoles and plastids in their little glucose soup hit each other, they'll create the cannabinoids and those will excrete through the membrane into the...
BubblemanThere's an article that Jeremiah Vandermeer and myself wrote in Cannabis Culture. You can Google inside the trichome and it actually describes exactly what Jeff was just talking about with a nice little... Graph that shows the trichome and it shows the vacuoles, the plastids and the terpenes and how it pushes them up into the upper membrane. It's a real sort of good simple explanation. It doesn't go too deep into the science but it'll give you like a good starting point for starting to Google some things.
BubblemanAnd then, you know, someone sent me an interesting excerpt the other day. If I can find it, I'm not sure. If I can, I will read a little bit of it. It's from a terpene book, and I think maybe Kay from Trichome Technologies had mentioned this book probably just a few weeks prior, so maybe even this guy, it's where he found the book. Oh, here he is right here.
BubblemanHe found this information in a few books. The one book was called Flavors, Fragrances, Pharmaca, Pheromones by Eberhard Britmeier, and the second book Was a fragrant introduction to terpenoid chemistry. Both extremely interesting books. If you can check those out, I'll put the titles of them in the Hash Church Facebook page. That second book was by the author Charles Sell. And he just kind of gave me a few little pieces of information and I'm going to read them off and hopefully I can instill some conversation.
BubblemanSo the first thing from one of the books is that there are about 30,000 terpenes that are known at present in literature. The basic structure follows a general principle consisting of two methylbutane residues, also called isoprene units. In nature, terpenes occur predominantly as hydrocarbons, alcohols, and their glycosides, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, and carboxylic acids and esters. Beta-caryophyllene is responsible for activating the CB2 receptor, acting as a non-psychoactive anti-inflammatory.
BubblemanIt is an FDA-approved food additive, making it the first dietary cannabinoid There are hemi and monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, diterpenes, sesterterpenes, triterpenes, tetraterpenes, polyterpenes, depending on the number of isoprene subunits one differentiates between the listed. Volatile terpenoids can be isolated from their natural sources by distillation. Now this is getting into how we extract terpenes. Distillation can be done in three ways. Dry or emprimatic distillation, steam distillation, and hydrodiffusion.
BubblemanSo dry distillation involves high temperature and is usually reserved for the high-list boiling of the oils, typically those from woods such as Cade and Birch, not so much effective with the terpenes we're seeking out that are much more volatile and easier to access. Steam distillation, which is the presence of water in the method, lowers the temperature of this process, thus much less degradation than in dry distillation.
BubblemanHowever, some degradation does occur as the process can reach 100 degrees Celsius. For example, tertiary alcohols, particularly the higher boiling sesquiterpenoids and diterpenoid alcohols present in the plant often dehydrate in the pot and distill as the corresponding hydrocarbons. The steam distilled oil is separated from the water by means of a Florentine task, which separates them based on their differing densities. Now, hydro diffusion, which is the one that I have a little bit more interest in, Is essentially a form of steam distillation carried out upside down or inverted since the steam is introduced at the top of the pot and the water and oil taken off as liquids at the bottom.
BubblemanThe plant material diffused through the cell membranes into the steam and are carried to the bottom of the still by the descending flow of condensate. This efficient technique saves energy because it's not necessary to vaporize the oils. Keep that in mind, guys. Yeah. I think that's enough. That's quite a bit of information from those two little books. And if anyone has anything they want to say about that information, the floor is yours.
Mark ScaldoniThank you for the sermon, Bubble Man.
BubblemanYeah, just, you know, one of my, one of our followers, one of the people that watch Hash Church, he goes by, what was his name? It was... I can't even remember now, but thank you for passing that on. Thank you for passing those books on. If you guys have a further interest on learning about this information, like I said, I'll mention those two books by title and author in the Hash Church Facebook group.
BubblemanCome on, Mark. I know you're holding back.
SpeakerOkay, I just posted a trichome head. I'd love to comment on that, and I think that the book says it very well when you're talking about terpenes, that there are different ways of doing it, and depending on the end result and purpose of what you're trying to do, that would be the method or combination of methods one would want to seek out. And that's very good information that you shared.
SpeakerThat's what I was commenting on. But I did post the cross-section of the head in Hash Church right now.
BubblemanExcellent. Is that in the Hash Church Facebook group?
SpeakerYes. Horatio just liked it. Horatio? Yeah. Horatio is on Hash Church. He's already seen it.
BubblemanI'm in. I'm looking right now myself.
SpeakerTony and Mark, I got a question for you. I guess I'm really allergic to weed and it's not in a funny way and I found a major difference between the flower rosin and the hash rosin and I was kind of looking at what I'm hyper allergic to flower rosin, identical to weed. It's almost like an injection of what, you know, we typically call a pollen. We just say pollen is the reason why I got irritated and it's Coming off the plant desk, but in your microscopic views, have you guys have ever seen what the actual article is?
SpeakerBecause it becomes airborne and to the point where I have to filter the air in my whole room for an hour before I can even step in to get my mask. That's because, all right, so cannabis like grass or any other plant, when it's cut and it knows it's dying, it freaks out and releases different chemicals. And it becomes an airborne release. And so what happens is it's not just the cannabis.
SpeakerYou're allergic to the chlorophyll and the way that the plant is reacting, in my opinion. Mark could probably talk a little bit more to that. But the exposure to that live plant material and what it's going through is what's causing the problem. That is probably why you have a better reaction to your limonene Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you for having us. Thank you for having us.
SpeakerThank you for having us.
ToddInteraction that then starts secreting all kinds of chemicals that histamines and prostaglandins and derivatives of arachidonic acid that result in the allergic response. Smooth muscle contraction making it difficult to breathe. If you break out, that's an inflammatory response again due to some of these arachidonic acid downstream metabolites that So, again, as your body is feeling that it's under some type of environmental insult that it has to do this to protect itself.
ToddAnd so the nature of that and cannabis, I'm not sure, but typically, generically, any type of pollen that has a protective coat, these protective coats are developed over evolution, again, to stabilize the We've got a couple of questions here. We've got a couple of questions here. We've got a couple of questions here. We've got a couple of questions here.
SpeakerSimilar problem, Horatio. I'm practically deathly allergic to weed for the most part. I can barely touch plants. I can't trim. I can't do anything like that anymore. I was talking with the doctors, and because in Colorado they've had a lot of people that are showing allergies to weed, they're actually starting to work on a cannabis serum, which is part of like immunotherapy treatment. Not that that's applicable.
SpeakerI'm just saying they are starting to do studies on it. Now that it's becoming a legal industry and people are coming to the doctor with major issues, like I have.
Etienne FontanWell, they can come forward now because they don't have to fear any repercussion because of legality. I mean, I did before even.
SpeakerYeah, they're definitely talking about it. Now, if they would just stop using Mississippi to let them help them find the solution, that would be great.
BubblemanYeah, Mississippi's definitely not dabbing on the rosin.
SpeakerNo. You know, they grow 41% cannabis, though. 41%.
Etienne FontanWorst pot I've ever seen.
SpeakerI actually have some of it. If you guys want to see it, I have some of it.
BubblemanAs Etienne just said, it's the worst pot he ever sees, and he runs, like, so I'm guessing he's seen some pot.
Etienne FontanWell, 20 years ago when we were on Hemp Tour, Elvie came along with us, so we got to see her pot firsthand. Now, it's changed over 20 years, but back then it was 3% to 4%. Yeah, it was ground plants, right? Anywhere we went, yeah, it was Mexican-grown.
BubblemanSo ground plants, didn't they just grind up stocks and everything?
Etienne FontanYes, yes. And they wrapped it, they put it in a palm oil, they bought an old rolling machine and they roll these things and they come in 300 to a tin. And it is obnoxious. It smells terrible. If your dealer presented it to you, you would walk away. Dude, Irv smoked the shit out of those joints. But it's gotten better, I mean, over the years. Back then, her stuff was 10 years old.
Etienne FontanShe was only getting, all the patients were only getting tins that were a product that was 10 years old. So as they've gone through those tins, they finally got through fresher material. But for a time, we would only, when we were on hemp tour, we would stop at people's houses and she would bake with cookies because she couldn't stand to smoke it. Terrible.
SpeakerI don't know. I've seen some pretty shitty weed up in Canada. Their medical pot, there was some stuff, I don't know, that was shown at Niagara Seed Bank, what the government was sending them, and I guess it was like just the whole plant grounded up. Have you ever seen that, Mark? Yep, I've seen it in multiple countries. It's the worst thing you can do. Dude, it's garbage, bro.
SpeakerGarbage. But don't get me wrong, I've seen... Loads of other crappy weed all over the world too. Just throw the government in there with the rest of the schwag.
ToddI think the United States government is now contracting cannabis to be grown elsewhere other than the University of Mississippi. So once they start getting used to more modern grades of cannabis, they're going to see that all the money they've spent down at UMass is a waste of money. And that program will end.
Etienne FontanThere's another researcher up in Minnesota who is supposedly growing high grade and under license from the government.
SpeakerThere's actually a few sources. So this was Mississippi.
ToddThere's four non-Mississippi growers that are commissioned by the government right now.
SpeakerYeah, there is. And this was their tin can, as you were talking about. It tested 3% THC and 97% crap.
SpeakerAnd so their program was 300 joints a month. That's 10 a day. So their therapeutic dosing was 10 joints a day of 30% THC. And if you did the conversion, if you did the conversion and you were able to break out all the other side effects of God knows what's in the plant because this joint had been sitting since 1996 and it was delivered to the patient 10 years ago.
SpeakerSo that was 12 years in a can, in a joint. So no one ever took the can, opened it, and said, oh, let's test for any kind of molds or anything like that. They just said, well, it should be good. It's fresh. It's 14 years fresh. It's not like vintage wines. You know, it doesn't get better with time. Hey, I've heard all kinds of growers say that it's going to become more expensive when you age that shit out.
SpeakerWell, that's how it's going to be. You know, but so now what it is, I've actually heard of three to four, I guess there's four of them. They actually have federal licenses. One was, I think, in Washington, D.C., if I'm not mistaken. And they've got...
SpeakerThey've got a more medical grade program, and they're definitely growing for patients.
Etienne FontanBack in the 90s, I'm a Gulf War veteran, so I got access to VA files. So I found 17 different research facilities around the United States with actual studies that they were doing on cannabis, including a 50-question questionnaire that the VA was giving out to Vietnam veterans About their cannabis use since Vietnam. But I was a young activist and I got a little too loud about it and of course it spooked them and they shut a lot of that down.
SpeakerYeah, you also have to know like why are they doing so. When you said this was a waste of money or a program, not to them because all you have to do is spend millions and millions and millions of dollars Dr. Pompa, Dr. Pompa, Dr. Pompa, Dr. Pompa, Dr. Pompa, Dr. Pompa,
SpeakerThen you've basically convoluted the studies on purpose.
Etienne FontanDidn't Gabriel Nahas do that with the monkeys? Just force feed them so much, you know, cannabis that there was no oxygen that they actually died from lack of oxygen. Yeah, exactly. And then they met on cannabis and joints.
SpeakerSame kind of concept. So they did a great job extending the length of prohibition. And so, you know, that's why for Mark and I, we're trying to take this to another country and said, you know what, let's just have a third party study everything and let's just have an open biased opinion and see what the fuck happens. That's really what it's about. And so we're starting with a capsule and we're starting with a tincture to give us a starting base.
SpeakerAnd we want to study the full pure plant profile, not one cannabinoid.
Etienne FontanRight on.
ToddWell NIDA, the National Institutes for Drug Abuse, is the organization in the U.S. government that charters the University of Mississippi to grow cannabis. And NIDA's charter, by definition, is to look at the drug abuse and non-beneficial aspects of cannabis. So they are stacking the cards in their favor to make it Very difficult for anyone who wants to study the beneficial aspects of cannabis because NIDA basically has a lock on the University of Mississippi's swag farm.
ToddNow things are going to be changed and right now the Colorado universities that do research have all petitioned the United States government to allow them to do cannabis research at the universities. And so it's in the process of changing.
BubblemanMy favorite quote of the day down in Mississippi Swag Farm, that should be like a Grateful Dead song or something. I can already hear Jerry. I think they'd invite David Grissman to play on that one. Mississippi Swag Farm, get Vassar Clemens on the violin. Come on, let's put this shit together.
ToddHere we go.
BubblemanAha! Mark's going to write the tune right now. Down on Mississippi swag farm.
ToddToodle-oo.
BubblemanToodle-oo.
BubblemanFor all you deadheads in the room, and I'm sure there's a few out of the 586 viewers, I know you enjoyed that.
SpeakerHere's some kind of shwagger that I've always been smoking. And it's always been the Moroccan hash being in Europe. And Moroccan hash is always famous for mixing Real nice, real bendy. Has that real texture. But you know what the problem is? When you burn it, it's got the smell of burnt seeds on it.
SpeakerI'm a burning seed, so it's like a third or fourth grade paddle, and I've literally sort of beaten it down so it's turned into like a saleable residue.
BubblemanWell, I mean, it's gotten a lot better. Remember the soap bar from 10 years ago?
SpeakerThat shit was like... Yeah, that was ridiculous. That was fucked up, dude.
BubblemanYeah. Gotta give props to Nick. Remember Nick writing about Mr. Big in Morocco?
SpeakerYeah, he was one of the first guys to expose it. Wow.
BubblemanThat was some crazy shit. For those of you that don't know, Nick from Red Eye Magazine, which is how I met Big Buddha... It's how I met Kay from Tricom Technologies. Yeah, Nick's just an incredible guy who had this amazing magazine that set the bar above and beyond any other magazine that I've even really seen to date. And I was very always proud to be able to say that I wrote for Red Eye Magazine.
BubblemanBut the best stories in Red Eye Magazine were never mine and they were never Kay's. They were always Nick's, like 20 pages. Yeah, Zorro. Yeah, Bizarro, man. Like, holy shit, Zorro, right? Zorro's fucking adventures.
SpeakerI'll give you guys a head up, a little update about him, because from about, last time I kind of saw him was like 2007, 2008, so it was a good like seven, eight years ago. And like, he kind of disappeared off the scene. And then, so a couple of years ago, When I started going to Denver, that's where I met Kenny again. And he kind of, like, texted me and, like, he was emailing me.
SpeakerAnd he was asking, have you spoken to him? And, like, I couldn't find him. He'd moved out. He was totally gone. So last year, I hired a private detective. You know, like, gave him, like, the national address. Paid him, like, a fee. And I hired him and he gave us an address and since then Kenny sent him a letter and then like telling him to get free to us.
SpeakerAnd I've been speaking to him a lot. I've been sending him some scenes. And he's living in England and he's just chilled out now. He's pretty chilled out. But yeah, he was one of the original groundbreakers.
BubblemanYeah, man. I think of him often. If you're watching, Nick, I miss you, brother. I hope to see you again one day soon. You were, well, you are one of a kind, man. Don't ever let anyone convince you otherwise.
SpeakerCool. And, well, back to the hash, here was one of the people who exposed, you know, the fact that all the hash in Morocco is of certain grades already, and what people would do would buy the stock and then repress it somewhere in Spain. And that's where they turned it into so far. It was mostly English gangs, Dutch gangs, Scandinavian gangs who were mixing it, but they were using all sorts.
SpeakerHenna was the main one.
BubblemanNow that was the least of our worries.
SpeakerYeah.
BubblemanPretty terrible to think that people are just so... You know, one more reason why I love the idea of that unadulterated, unpressed, like, resin glands. If you can just get them in whole glands, you know, it's like there's no questioning what it is. I can press anything and make it look like a piece of hash with enough pressure.
SpeakerYou were pressing hard last week.
BubblemanYeah, we were pressing hard last week, weren't we? Yeah. Everywhere, Jeff was like my personal Rosinator. He'd just show up. Yeah, absolutely.
SpeakerHe had your own little space. He'd plug his shit in.
BubblemanHe'd be like, all right, are we pressing? And then there would just be a lineup of people, like a queue of buds. And it was funny because, you know, one guy would be like, here, check out my bud. Look how crystally it is. And we'd squeeze it and be like, get a dab out. Then some other dude would show up with a bud that didn't look as crystally, but we'd squeeze that and get like three dabs out.
BubblemanAnd it was this real sort of like mind fuck of like what people think is present and what's actually, I love any type of product that I use the term the word of God, which I used to use for the bubble bags when people are like, oh, you know, I got great weed, look at how great my weed is. I'm like, well, let's just run it through the bags and see just how great it really is.
SpeakerOne thing about me, probably Aaron will find out, and you as well, last week as well is What's so great about Spannabis is as soon as you pull out any kind of weed, it's like, the only way I can describe it is like, you've just killed like a zebra on the water game, and you can see the vultures coming in, one by one, flying around, and when that's what it is, it's like you pull out a little bit of bud, but all of a sudden, you look around, you've got like ten people on you, Two sets of like phones recording everything.
BubblemanDude, when Matt came over to our booth, he came over to the booth and he was like, hey, let's do some dabs of some barb. And he starts like loading my bowl for people. And I'm like, hey, dude, be careful. All of a sudden there's like a hundred people at the booth and Matt's looking over at me like, what did I do? I'm like, well, dude, I'm wondering what you did.
BubblemanYou just came over here, pulled out a 90 gram slab of full melt. And started doling out fucking hits to, like, the people walking by. Like, you're surprised? There's 100 people, 20 fucking cell phones, video cameras, film crews.
Mark ScaldoniWhat was fun about it all was seeing all the different types of hash that people had brought, you know? I mean, we got everything Lebanon, Moroccan, Indian. Parvati. You know. But, you know, I mean, there was this one sample that was Indian Hatch. I remember it really vividly. And we pressed it. And it just spit out green. It was like this chlorophyll and it smelled like alcohol.
Mark ScaldoniIt was like a chlorophyll nasty extraction.
BubblemanThat one was almost black. The weirdest one was the weed that was fresh that actually was blue.
Mark ScaldoniYeah, it spit out blue. I still need to post a picture of that.
BubblemanThat shit was blue. We were just like, okay, why is that blue? And the only thing I could come up with was that resin is gold and that chlorophyll is green and gold and green make blue.
ToddWell, there's a blue pigment in there. There's a blue pigment called azulene that sometimes is a component of the more purpley looking flower.
BubblemanListen, this shit was like mercury blue. It was insane blue. It wasn't normal blue.
Mark ScaldoniIt was like a blue, like a hard candy blue, like a fake blue coloring blue. Just crazy, crazy. Miracle glow blue? It was tasty.
BubblemanYou have to have the shit out of that blue hash.
Etienne FontanYou can turn flowers different colors at any time by putting, you know, food coloring into the water and letting it seep up into it. So, I mean, you can't do anything like that. That's not impossible. This was very much like food coloring.
ToddWho's wrong? You do not want to be smoking food color laced weed, period.
BubblemanI think that's a valid Hash Church quote as well. Do you hear that, guys? The scientist says, don't smoke the food coloring.
Etienne FontanWord.
BubblemanOn that note, I think we should smoke some hash. I got this fancy little Barcelona, I guess it's like a makeup thing, but I'm just using it as like a cast thing.
SpeakerYou like that, Lauren? Talking about weed with flavoring, I can't remember what the name of the coffee shop is, but it's opposite, on the Harlemmer Strat, opposite the Damkring and Greenhouse. It's either like Popeye, or it's one of his Moroccan dudes. And like, he had like a vanilla kush. And like, look at it, it was like pee-pee with vanilla essence on there. That's terrible. 18 euros a gram.
Bubbleman18 euros a gram. Oh, man. Yeah, let's smoke to that. Let's not smoke to that. Let's smoke to something different.
SpeakerThis is what I'm really enjoying at the moment this week. What it is, the lily.
SpeakerMilo gave me the best grass. It's fan abyss. I'm just going to say that. Thank you. I had a cheesy one and I loved it. Thank you. It was cured properly. I had love. It was a nice bud. Yes. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
SpeakerAnd I just talked to a great authority who told me that trichromes do not exert terpenes unless they're broken. That makes sense.
BubblemanWell, they must exert them when they're broken because water hash definitely smells like water-soluble terpenes in the water.
BubblemanBut those are broken.
SpeakerHe dug on that too, though. He said water-soluble. It's way terpenes though. How does that work though? If I can smell the terpenes on a plant without touching it, how's that, you know? They're evaporating away. But those are the volatility of the... Yeah, if you smell it... Yeah, they're just evaporating off. Yep. Think about it, Aaron. When you go into a warm room and you smell it, man, that's just them steaming off their terps.
SpeakerTrue. Truth be told. It's true. Yeah.
Etienne FontanThe cold is always 10 degrees warmer than the ambient room temperature. So being 10 degrees warmer than the room temperature, if your room's at 80, your plant's at 90, which means it's already starting to evaporate. So that's where temperature becomes so key, especially if you want to retain any of your flavonoids.
BubblemanHey, 609 people.
SpeakerHey, Rob always recommended 72 degrees. The cooler, the better, he said, in a lot of respects. Not the cooler, because you can run too cold, but 72 was always the key temperature, he said, so the plants wouldn't elongate and you'd get a good terpene buildup. Well, also with curing, too, it's also good to keep your plants cool. For what that's worth.
BubblemanYeah, I was going to say curing an even colder temperature would be worthwhile. Yeah.
Etienne FontanI know when I did... Shit's not evaporating off. Cold, dark, and dry.
BubblemanYeah, cold, dark, and dry. Tilray was the coldest curing room I'd ever been in. I was quite impressed, actually.
SpeakerI don't think you want to go too cold, though, because you can freeze and damage things, too, but unless you go fresh frozen and you drop the moisture.
BubblemanThey're not freezing by any means. They're just cool to the point where when you walk in the room, it doesn't smell like 400 pounds is in the room. Because, you know, you don't want to smell all those terpenes on your herb in the air.
BubblemanI mean, unless...
SpeakerI don't want to walk into a room that smells like hay either. Go ahead, Horatio. Well, bringing up that point where Todd said, okay, the trichomes don't smell, and then you guys are like, well, how much is getting in my water? And then we go back to that point of what about the heads that Jeff is talking about that are not, that are all in a micro, you know, kind of like an array across the leaf.
SpeakerWell, I'm just looking at the fact the terpenes that I extract are of The kind that evaporate very, very volatile. But the product that I end up with is like the weed you know. So I'm starting to think, that's why I was going to ask Aaron, how similar is, like if you grow a room of just one strain, how similar is the strain smell experience through the whole grow versus when it's dried, cured, and ready to smoke?
SpeakerIs it even related when you split the smells that far apart? I mean, I like, I personally think if your flowers could smell the same way as they are fresh and taste the same way, I mean, I think it's a pretty close ratio, you know. Some of the strains stay true all the way through. Okay, because I put turps back onto the weed and people couldn't recognize their weed anymore.
SpeakerThank you for watching.
SpeakerThanks for watching.
SpeakerThose special terps, I mean, there is more to fresh frozen, so I assume what's in the water still retains on those heads. It's kind of like a cold cure versus a hot quick cure. I'm figuring the terpenes I isolate are just the ones that would give in your bubble water or would give to poor drying conditions.
SpeakerWell, I would interject this, that water is going to wash away a lot of the terpenes, and when you dry sieve, the question I raised was specifically for dry sieving, because if we dry sieve and separate the resin glands from the plant, We're separating the resin glands from most of all the terpenes because the terpenes are not excreting from the resin heads, just the cannabinoids. That's all that's collecting under that membrane.
SpeakerAnd that membrane is not oozing out terpenes. The terpenes are in the waxy cuticle layer that's all over the plant and the bracts and everything else.
SpeakerThe only reason I guess I disagree is because a half gram cup of dry sift, when you uncrack it, It's so robust of a smell compared to a BHO or a live resin off gassing that I'm like well clearly pure 99% heads have a heliter profile that I can't totally agree that you know trichome heads alone are you know terp less but there is definitely a difference between that dry sift smell and its pungency and um I guess you know kind of like the It's a different terp profile when you're dealing with non-polar solvents because they go after those heads that you could say we don't mechanically isolate, but in a different way.
SpeakerThey're only pulling non-polar things. That's where the dry sift has the more polar terpenes. It seems like there's so many ways to change the profile of a plant by which way we go with those subtle heads, like the ones all over the plant versus just in the dry sift heads because I can't say they're smellless. They're sometimes the best smelling.
BubblemanIt's hard to deny the lack of a footprint in the extraction process of mechanically separating 99% gland head ratio hash. Water hash releases water-soluble terpenes, different chemical solvents extract certain non-polar components, and everything basically leaves a footprint, so the dry sift is just very, very close to footprint It's free. It's really depending on your ability to mechanically separate and how well you can decontaminate and, of course, how well you maybe grew the resin that gives you this almost unadulterated sort of cannabinoid high where it's just resin glands, boom, decontaminated.
ToddYeah, the hydrocarbon solvent completely scrambles everything. I can only imagine. Yeah, it just scrambles everything. Water is such an interesting solvent because, again, as has been pointed out, there are some terpenes that are water soluble, but for the most part, the glands themselves Are very hydrophobic and so they collapse on themselves and that creates the, that's the fundamental physical phenomena that's happening in water hash formation is the collapsing of these things onto themselves to create solid mass.
Mark ScaldoniI'm curious, has anybody done any terpene analysis on the difference between dry sift and bubble? You know, I mean, we all talk about, you know, there's all these terpenes that go into the water. We know that. I mean, you drink the water, you smell the water, you know it's there. But is it really, are the terpenes just the ones on the surface? You know, that's, I think we, somebody needs to dry sift some 99% heads and get some, you know, really nice bubble made from the same material and see if there's really a terpene.
BubblemanI've done it. Of course, Jeff. Come on.
Mark ScaldoniWell, what's the terpene difference there?
BubblemanIt depends entirely on the percentage of what, and this is just my own guesstimation. I could be completely wrong. This is just the way I communicate this idea. I have this idea that there are water-soluble and alcohol-soluble terpenes, and that the alcohol-soluble terpenes seem to be the ones that That go all the way through. I noticed it first with Renee. When I made water hash with Renee, the hash tasted and smelled exactly like a pound of the weed.
BubblemanIt just, it never changed at all. And it's why, really, Bubble Bags was able to take off because Renee, back in the day, was the first strain that I was able to make this water hash with. I used to post it online and it looked like stained glass and everyone that smoked it was like, they were like, dude, the only water hash I've ever had was tasteless schwag.
BubblemanSkunk Man Sam tells the story of being uninspired by water hash, intrigued by the concept of water, resin being affected by gravity due to its density even in water, intrigued, but not excited. If you make the same material, I promise you, with dry sift and wet wash, unless it's a rare strain like Renee, that all of this taste transfers right to the hash, You'll find that the dry sift 9 out of 10 times will have a deeper flavor profile that you won't get from the bubble hash.
BubblemanNow, when the bubble hash is the highest of the highest grade, like a 10, and the dry sift is a 10, then they're basically pretty much on point with one another. But otherwise, that dry sift, to me, often has an edge because it just hasn't had those things removed. And you can taste the difference. They're different in every strain. I can't say that it's the same thing every time.
BubblemanDifferent strains lose different things, and the odd one, like Renee, doesn't lose anything. It literally is the one that made me realize water hash can be amazing. Because in 98, 99, people were intrigued by the concept of water hash, but with a two-bag system being the only real system, very few people saw what we would call full melt.
Mark ScaldoniSo, you know, I mean, the way that I look at a resin head is that if it's a properly cured and dried thing, it's way different than if it's fresh frozen. Fresh frozen, it's a whole different beast. But I work with dry tree because I like a dry resin head. And, you know, so for me, I feel like that waxy cuticle and membrane that surrounds the resin head that I'm harvesting is a barrier.
Mark ScaldoniAnd I really feel like the water is not able to penetrate in there and affect it But I feel that there are other contaminants in my hashish, a little bit of plant material, a little bit of this, a little bit of that, that have terpenes on them, but they're water-soluble terpenes. And now I've completely removed those terpenes from there, and now I've got this plant material that's like really not good tasting because it's got all this char.
Mark ScaldoniIt's just cellulose without having any extra terpenes in it. So I'm... I'm really kind of questioning. I see there's a possibility, especially with fresh frozen bubble, to be different than a dried version of dry acid from that stream. But I'm really thinking, you know, if it's dry trimmed, it's kind of the same sort of a thing. And maybe that turf profile that we're seeing coming out is really just from plant material being broken down.
BubblemanAnd how would the terpenes end up on the outside of the heads? If we know terpenes are produced inside the gland head, and then the second part of that question would be, do you consider when the gland is broken from the stock and collected in the water hash that that area right there is no longer protected like the outside of the wax membrane, that area is more susceptible to either absorbing water or releasing Terpenes or at least water solubles.
ToddI could add something. When you add water and you completely disrupt those membranes, you turn the membrane almost in a very perturbed way inside out. You're releasing the intracellular contents on the outside now because you've completely both mechanically and just by the sheer amount of water you're using completely disrupted those membranes.
SpeakerEven if it's a dry trichome head?
ToddI mean, mechanically, yeah, yeah, because mechanically, you could certainly, those things can rupture and basically spill their contents out, you bet.
SpeakerI mean, there's multiple strains that, like, you found with Renee, like, I think LA Confidential, I make a water hasher that smells exactly like the strain, and
SpeakerCantaloupe Haze was one of those strains that we did that always came out when we made water hash extraction smelling just like the plant. Multiple varieties, I think, but not all of them. I wouldn't say all of them. It's a handful, you know, but like certain strains, Sleeve Stack, for instance, you know, the way it smells on the plant, it smells on, you know, in dry stiff.
SpeakerFor me, uh, and the exhale smells better than both, so I don't, you know, there's certain things, but I think when the plant is dried properly and you, then you make this ice water extraction hash, the crystals break off whole and don't really break down so much, but, um, But what Mark is saying, I mean, he's the scientist. I'm not going to bet against him. He pulls it out of the bag and looks at it.
ToddNo, no, no. All I'm trying to do is let you know the science that underpins what you're observing. And so from my experience, again, when you take these very waxy, non-water-soluble materials, And now you treat them either mechanically or by rupturing their cell walls by freezing them and then doing a quick extraction or in a very perturbed way which is a solvent extraction where again you just melt everything that's in there and now solubilize everything where there's no memory of what came from where.
ToddThe phenomena I think that you guys are observing here is, again, what happens when you take a lot of these waxy growths that are on the surface that contain very hydrophobic molecules, and what they end up doing is they end up being part of the glue or what coagulates these various masses together, so it actually creates the solid hash. Now, again, the waxy... The nature of these materials makes little inclusion bodies that can basically trap terpenes within the amorphous layers of this wax as it builds up in your hash making process.
ToddAnd so certainly those can create little reservoirs To trap terpenes and to maintain the essential oils during the coagulation process. But certainly all of that can be affected by what strain, how much you've aged. And I think what has a big effect is, again, if you're doing, whether you're doing dry sift or you're doing water hash, is the water content in the plant itself. I still contend that this rosin process is primarily driven by a super heating of the moisture and the oils that are inside the bud to escape the bud in a very rapid, quick way, similar to steam distillation.
ToddAnd what you're doing is you're basically using the plant to extract itself. And as Tony pointed out, it could be done at home and it could be done safely. I know my son and his whole crew here, they're all about it. They love it. Just the fact that they can do it and it's not an issue of having butane explosions and all that kind of crap.
BubblemanYeah, from a parental standpoint, that is kind of the...
ToddIt wins. It's winning.
SpeakerI'm going to buy Johnny his own t-shirt press for Christmas this year.
ToddI think it's going to be just like the turkey bag thing. All of a sudden the vendors of these materials are going to be like, oh my God, what is this sudden... Turkey bags in the 90s, right?
BubblemanAbsolutely, right, right. I'm not going to lie. I personally spent about $100,000 on turkey bags in the 90s.
SpeakerT-shirt presses are going to be known as the home units, and the hair straightens will be known as the traveler. George Foreman's about to get rich again. George Foreman.
ToddHas anyone tried the Foreman thing? Does the Foreman thing work?
SpeakerI don't know, but I've been talking about it, but I bet it will work. First thing I said was I'm going to go. I've already looked at them. They've got to change the plates, right?
ToddI think it's too hot, isn't it?
Etienne FontanI think it's too spaced as well.
ToddYeah. Too spaced. It's too spaced. Put something else in there to transfer the heat.
ToddWhat Scott Reach brought up on Facebook earlier today was, again, we don't really know what this does to terpene profile, and it would be great to be able to do some side-by-side comparisons with everything from dry sift to butane hash to rosin and see what the process does to the terpene profile.
SpeakerTotally. That would be That'd be killer. You just get one single strain and you do it all different ways. You know, you extract it all different ways.
ToddYeah, I mean, for you growers, I mean, this would be a great way. I mean, you just walk up to the plant while you're in your grow and you want to get a quick in-grow sample. You walk up with the curling straightener and the parchment and just take a plant sample while it's right on the plant. And you could just, you know, see what it's like while it's right on the plant.
ToddI mean, I don't know of any other extraction method that's so simple to be able to do right on the plant.
SpeakerCan I say that that's actually very interesting because it would be a gauge of how much oil is on the plant. And it might tell us when to harvest, even better than looking at the hairs. Because if we're really trying to build up terpenes and cannabinoids, pulling it down early is rather stupid because most of these oils excrete and build up in the later stages of flowering.
SpeakerAnybody who watches the flower will tell you that. I mean, some of the more greasy strains like OG almost want to bring to rejuvenation right to the edge of it because that's when it's going to look like green sticky bud and not red hair. I mean, nothing looks stupider to me than red-haired OG Kush because I just realized an impatient grower didn't let it finish. But squish your bud and test for oil.
SpeakerIt could be great. Right on the plant. I don't know. I like to harvest based on terpenes too, bro. You know? Because at different times, the plant happens to change, you know? Later on, the plant is different. It's much heavier. It's not as aromatic. Earlier on, there's different smells and different qualities. I mean, I've cut down plants on purpose because I've flipped the room one time, and I emergency had to change the light schedule to the exact opposite of what I did, and I didn't let the room sit for 48 hours in dark before I did that.
SpeakerSo the plants pretty much immediately started finishing, and We got a, it made red hash. The hash was completely red. It was way too early. And it was such a uppity clear high that I forgot where I was going with the whole thing. But the pre-harvest technique, I think the pre-harvest technique...
SpeakerAaron, you're a great person to give some tips on end of the plant because, I mean, honestly, everything you ever hand in me smells and tastes so good, and it's obvious you guys are doing it right. And, I mean, a lot of people, I think, are in a hurry to finish, you know, and I think it's foolish.
SpeakerI don't know what just happened there.
Etienne FontanSay it again, Aaron.
Etienne FontanAnyone seen Bubble Man? It says he left Chad.
SpeakerI think he got bumped out of a room and he can't get back in.
Etienne FontanHe got bumped by Cuban Grower.
SpeakerWhat did you do, dude? How could you do this to me, man? He got bumped out of his own room. Oh, Cuban Bells now. I got to go do a talk today. I'm going to be talking about this and stuff like that. Everybody... Peace and love. Representing the Grow Your Own, of course. Oh yeah, look. Representing the Grow Your Own. Damn, bro. Thank you, guys. Where's my money?
SpeakerWhere's my royalties? Enjoy, you guys.
SpeakerSo what, is this ending right now? Or are we still talking about, like, terpings? Like, what were you saying, Todd? Just a second ago. I was actually saying that I think that if we're now harvesting turps and cannabinoids, it's better to let the plants go a little longer because that's when they develop a majority of the oils and the resins in the turps later in their flowering.
SpeakerYeah, absolutely. But if you go too long, I think you lose. You know, they start breaking down. He's back. He's back. She's back. He's back. It's back. He has risen. She has come. I thought you got punked by Cuban Grower, Mark.
BubblemanThat was scary, man. That was real scary.
Etienne FontanFlashback to Barcelona again, huh?
BubblemanDude, it was just like Barcelona. I was literally sitting here like, fuck, okay, sometimes it works. It could still be broadcasting. All the people still might just be talking about hash and not even really realize that we kind of left the chat room there for a little bit. And Cuban Growers trying to get in desperately. And he got in.
Etienne FontanHe was in and then he got in a little grief.
SpeakerWell, sheesh.
Etienne FontanWe used to have a bump in you and he dumped and then you popped back on.
BubblemanThat's hilarious. Well, sorry about my technical difficulties, everyone. I hope I didn't interrupt the conversation too much.
SpeakerI definitely agree with Todd. You know, especially OG, like some strains, you definitely have to take them out the distance to get the full flavor. Other strains, on the other hand, I think if you take them too long, you just get too much plant material or like biomass that essentially accumulates and the herb just ends up tasting shitty because it's so dense. Or even in the case of strains like that, they end up molding if you let them go too long.
SpeakerLike the San Diego cat piss clone I have, man, you can put the The humidity down to, I mean, I had it in Colorado, and if you take it past nine weeks, it'll still mature and keep maturing, but the centers of the top buds will mold out every time, no matter what you do. I mean, 10% humidity in the middle of the winter in Colorado, and it'll still mold.
SpeakerNot that that is necessarily a good thing for the health of the plant, not contributing to the mold, but it's just low humidity even will just completely, you know,
BubblemanThat might be a trait to stay away from in the breeding selection of your future projects.
SpeakerWell, Fletch, why do you... Fletch, on your descriptions with your seed packs, you put flowering times, right? Yeah. Those flowering times are based upon when you personally will cut down that strain, correct? Yeah. So that's basically when you feel it's ready, like, Same here. We do the same thing. Some people want to take the strains longer than we suggest. I'm not going to say it's a bad thing or it's a good thing.
SpeakerWe personally like to cut the plants down at this date because we feel it's the best tasting and it's the best overall appearance and smell and everything. Yeah, I, That we feel DNA feels is the right way. With heavy Afghan dominant stuff, I feel like, or just not Afghan, but just really indica-type plants, I feel like some of those just really benefit from an earlier harvest. It just prevents you from mold, like you're saying, but mainly botrytis and stuff like that, bud rot, not like PM or anything like that.
SpeakerRight. Yeah, no, I agree completely. I mean, Bubba or just, Like the LA Bubba type herb. That's a perfect example of one that I prefer every time taken early rather than long. But that's just me personally. I think it tastes better. Yeah, those plants I feel like you've got to grill them for eight weeks before you even start to flower. Yeah. Those Afghan strains, you need to pre-veg, you need to like max out the size of those strains to get, you know.
SpeakerYeah, absolutely. The true Afghan experience. Yeah, I mean, if every time I've ever taken Bubba or like Master or anything like that over two or three feet inside in beds before I flower it, it performs so much better than it ever does like as a plantlet, like sod style or anything like that. It's a completely different beast. I mean, the buds get huge on a three-, four-foot, five-foot Master Kush plant compared to like just some little cut you threw in.
SpeakerYeah, I mean, You should, like, when the LA Confidential got released back door via some scandalous individual in Amsterdam, you should have seen how all these, all these individuals, all these other growers in Amsterdam were trying to grow the strain. So they all, like, you know, there's thousands, they muddled it out, they made thousands of cuttings of it, and then None of these growers had any clue of how to grow this type of strain, you know, an Afghan strain like this.
SpeakerSo they put it in, they literally put the clone into their grow room, vegged it for five days, and then started their flowering. And every grower in Amsterdam was so angry, bro. You know, we were getting every grower coming to our shop and this is the worst yielding strain. I only got like Like point one of what I normally get out of room, you know, like I got 100 grams and I normally get like 2,000 grams out of this room.
SpeakerAnd we're like, well, you got a bad karma cut, bro, and you didn't, you know, and that's, you got to learn how to grow it. And everyone, bro, in Amsterdam, bro, I'm telling you, Fletch, I've seen some great flowers, but. Everyone lost their ass, all these growers. So it went from being the most exciting strain in Amsterdam to being like one of the most hated strains by growers.
SpeakerJust because they didn't know how to cultivate it. You know, can I say this? On the flip of that, Aaron, I watched back 20 years ago now, I watched this guy Tom win the 1996 Cannabis Cup in dirt in it. And he actually took NL5 by haze, zero days pre-grow, 88 plants, averaged 16 grams a plant. He harvested over 1,400 grams under two 600-watt bulbs. And I was blown away.
SpeakerZero days pre-grow. We do that with NL5 by haze. Some of the old hazers we would always, Always grow. We would always flower them directly from clone. As soon as the clone shows roots, you put them in the grow room and you flower them because they grow another three, four feet. And that's the way you do some of these equatorial sativas. You have to flower them right from cutting to make them controllable and manageable within your room.
SpeakerBut some varieties when you're doing like Amsham is used to like the power plants and the And some of these skunk varieties where they can veg it for five days and throw it in flour and they get their 30 grams, 40 grams dry per plant. But certain varieties like the L.A.'s, the Bubba's, the true Afghanis, you can't do that with. But some of these sativas, yeah, you totally can.
SpeakerI've seen it like I've seen it with a lot of the hazes. You know, these guys just go right from flower to haze. I'm sure Fletch has some old sativas that he does, you know, maybe five days of veg and then throws it into the flower. Yeah, I have a Malabra hybrid that, you know, as soon as it's growing well in the pot that it's in, you flip it and it's ready to go.
SpeakerAnd it'll be a nice, you know, two to four ounce plant in a two gallon pot. Totally. Real quick.
SpeakerYeah, that and the dog shits like that, which, you know, Jeff knows about. The Walker, Albert Walker is a really interesting plant. It doesn't really need a long veg time at all. And it's got these big colas. It's like a skunk one plant, but doesn't smell like any skunk one I've ever grown.
BubblemanBut has anyone ever crossed the cat piss with the dog shit? That's what I want to know.
SpeakerNot quite yet.
BubblemanThere's a project for you Buddha, get on that. Would you just call that shit? I don't know, you could call it like number one, number two, I don't know. Good shit, cats versus dogs. Call it shish. Killer shit. That's a real project one day.
SpeakerIs anybody going to do a bong rip here, or am I alone in this one? Come on.
BubblemanThere's always someone doing a bong rip. You just missed his bong rip. He just already did one.
SpeakerI'm with you, bro. Ball rig bong rip.
BubblemanIt's all day long here. Just light them up and give her a go. So this rosin group that I started, there's been 700 new members since yesterday. Every time I go to check, it's like two to three hundred people want to become a member of this group, which is, that's the fastest growing group I've ever started on Facebook. It's really, people are very intrigued by this concept.
SpeakerI was just about to ask, where's that group on, and then you said the two letters. Yeah, it's called Grozentech. Well, it's the new thing, and it seems to really, really work. Like, amazingly. Smoked some Rosen last week with John, and I tried it myself with buds of my own, with my hair straightener. Fucking killer.
BubblemanBut you haven't tried your hash yet?
SpeakerNo, I haven't tried my hash yet. It's just, it scares me.
BubblemanJust like it did when I told you to put bud in a bucket full of water and ice.
SpeakerAbsolutely not. What do you mean? That's not the way I want to do it.
SpeakerBut it works. That's for sure.
BubblemanThere's no doubt about it.
BubblemanTony, what happened to you? I can't even click on your screen anymore. Is Tony still here? He's got some weird camera thing going on.
SpeakerI know, and I'm waiting to ask him a question, and it relates to all these breeders and their end dates. It's weird. I don't know.
BubblemanI'm going to go see what's going on with Tony here. Let me try to unmute you, Tony. This is weird.
BubblemanNo, I can't unmute Tony either. He looks like he's been put on some weird height, like he's been muted or something. Tony, if you can hear us, put your hands up.
SpeakerOh, yeah, you can. Mac.
Mark ScaldoniWhat the fuck, dude?
SpeakerI've been on permanent mute for an hour and a half.
BubblemanNo. Yeah. Not an hour and a half. Probably since I got bumped out of the room.
SpeakerYeah, since you got bumped out of the room.
BubblemanThat's some weird shit right there. Tony's just... Horatio was texting me. He's like, why does Tony look like he's a shadow? Is he like eating a sandwich or something? It was the crack about Mississippi.
SpeakerI feel like a shadow because I smoked one of each one of these. So Tony... I'll take that one on the left. No, sorry, you're right. Sorry, Buddha, go ahead. Tony, I got a question for you. So, you know, 420 is coming up Denver. How many rows in entries are we going to see? How many what? Rows in entries are we going to see? I don't know.
SpeakerLike this year is like kind of strange because they're accepting entries on the 4th, 5th, and 6th, and that's like Easter Sunday. So everybody's, it's a week early and everybody's kind of complained. And, You know, I'm currently in the middle of different types of transitions, so I'll definitely have like a personal entry, and it's all recreational entries only this year, so it's like a MIP or a person can enter.
SpeakerBut I was more looking forward to just hanging out with everybody, and there's going to be a lot of really cool stuff going on. Joe, well, it'll come out soon who's going to be... Blowing live here, and then there's a lot of other activities with the cup. And I'm going to have a party, and you're invited. So, you know.
BubblemanBy you, do you mean like all 631 viewers of Hash Church and the future 10,000 in the next 48 hours?
SpeakerOver the course of four days, we can rotate in and out of the situation. I can hold a maximum of 30 to 40 people, and we can rotate and do our best.
BubblemanEvery two hours. Dude, I just want to come down to Denver and do your show.
SpeakerYeah, the Dabs Over Denver. That's what I'm saying.
BubblemanYeah, I want to come beyond Dabs Over Denver.
SpeakerYou know, I think Bubble Man coming into the United States for 420 would be an amazing situation. You haven't been in the country in how long?
BubblemanWell, it's been about 17 years. I was in America in 1998 on fish tour. I drove down, checked out some shows in like Portland. I went down and saw them at the Gorge for a couple of nights. That's where I picked up Marbleslinger and Jason Lee hitchhiking actually. Didn't really go back since then. Killer shows. For a while Fish was still coming up to Vancouver and then Trey got busted with Farmies and it was all like no more Fish shows for Vancouver.
BubblemanYeah, killer shows, dude. 98 Gorge. I saw the 93, if you want a killer show. 1993, Vancouver, the Commodore Ballroom, opening act, Baby Gramps singing his longest palindrome song on his steel guitar.
SpeakerEpic shit. Wow.
BubblemanEpic shit. I remember standing there, and this dude was videotaping next to me, and I'm like, I'm talking to the guy, I'm like, dude, this is unbelievable, like, who is this guy? And the guy's like, that's Baby Gramps. He knew everything about this guy. I was like, damn, this motherfucker knows everything. It was Mike. Mike was videotaping the Baby Gramps opening act. I had never seen Fish before.
BubblemanHe was standing next to me filming, and I was asking him all these questions about who this guy was, and it was Mike... And Fish. That was weird. Hey, Cuban, welcome, buddy.
SpeakerFinally. What's up?
BubblemanWhy don't we just give Cuban the floor for the next hour? He's got a lot of catching up to do.
SpeakerOh. Hey, speaking of water-soluble terpenes and terpenes being stuck in the heads of the trichomes.
Etienne FontanAnd right in he goes.
SpeakerYeah, I washed some material, right, that was like extremely loud. It made my lab reek, man. It smelled almost like some man clone, right? I washed it. And that hash didn't smell like anything at all. It's almost like the water just, like, took all the terpenes from it. It melted fine. It looked, you know, like good hash. I don't think all the heads bursted and let it out, but definitely raped it, man.
SpeakerThat's, like, the biggest terpene rape by water I've ever seen in my life. That might be good water to attempt terpene recapturing with. Oh, yeah, that... I think the water pretty much extracted all the terpenes, man. It was like the most bland hash ever. I definitely didn't expect it. Have you guys, I know Tony, you've been playing with the rosin and that little clear piece looked like some flame, brother.
SpeakerHave you experienced waxing on the rosin? Waxing? Like whiting out? Yeah, so when I use 99% dry sift to make rosin,
SpeakerIt seems to want to wax out almost like BHO and honeycomb, you know what I mean? So I'll have to filter it so many times to get it to be a stable, very clear oil. With water hash, I get no waxing at all. So I just wanted to bring my observation out there and see if anybody was interested. I don't know if Jeff wants to chime in because earlier we were talking about that term waxing versus cellulose.
SpeakerYeah, I don't know. All I know is that if I get a rosin that looks cloudy or has become cloudy, and I can make it get cloudy by throwing it in the back oven at 110 degrees and leaving it there for a while, it'll begin to show imperfections in the oil. I can put it back in between a filter, heat press it, right? And if I filter it good enough, once I look inside the filter, what's left is like chalky white stuff.
SpeakerWhich I think are plant fats or I don't know what they really are. Maybe that's because you're doing that double temperature because what happens is the condensing. So when you're going from hot or warm temperature and it's hitting that parchment or oil slick and it's cool, it condenses and it hardens, it's kind of like re-firing up candy a little bit. Like if you made a crystal clear candy for your mouth and then you tried to heat it up again gently again.
SpeakerI think we would have kind of that same situation where you're getting it in between the surfaces. Hold on, I had to try to figure out this camera thing, man. I was lagging so bad, it was tripping me out. But I was able to get that patty. Oh, okay, so I stuck it in the oven just to kind of like... Like get the reaction I was looking for, the waxing.
SpeakerBut when I use the oven on the rosin, it's just to take the bubbles out. It'll make the rosin like a completely clear slab. It looks really pretty. Because it's not full of bubbles. I don't take the bubbles out that way. I pin it out. I roll that out hard.
SpeakerWord. Roll it out. So I use the parchment. I use the parchment to actually capture the rosin. I use the oil slick to spread it out.
BubblemanHey, I have a slightly off topic, but I want to get it in before, I mean, I know we have a couple hours left, but I could easily forget, and I do not want to forget. I wanted to put a big thank you to Ben Dronkers and his family for allowing us to use the museum in Spain, in Barcelona, and of course, Todd and Lauren helping to hook that all up and making it the Making it possible.
BubblemanThat was a huge, huge, huge thing. And I, like, really, I hadn't even known before that no one had ever even smoked in that museum before. We were the first ones to, like, break it in with Hash Church. And then, of course, the next day, Secret Cup had their ceremonies there. So there was quite a lot of puffing. But, yeah, I wanted to thank Ben. And thank Todd, thank, you know, Alan, anyone that put the good word in for us to allow us to use that facility.
BubblemanAnd that I would definitely urge you that if you're in Europe, if you're traveling around, I mean, that museum is really literally a reason to go to Barcelona. It is unbelievable. He's done us so right by the community to create To use so much of his wealth to acquire, procure all this incredible history of cannabis and hashish and hemp, and then to display it in a way that is above and beyond anything you can really imagine, you have to go see it to believe it.
BubblemanSo I wanted to say thank you. Proper.
SpeakerI can't wait to see it next year.
BubblemanI'm telling you, it's insane.
SpeakerMark, I want to say it was really nice to be able to help you put it together because this is all about community and trying to make sense to what we all don't understand and sharing our experiences. This museum is a great example of them trying to Share his experiences, share the history, share what we're all learning with one another, and he's just done it in a very beautiful presentation.
SpeakerAnybody that comes out here looking for cannabis or cannabis seeds or culture should definitely come check out the museums in Barcelona and Amsterdam to enrich their own lives. It's really quite amazing.
BubblemanIt really is, dude. I mean, I can't believe the quality of the place from the stained glass window work, To the wood carving display cases, to all of the stuff from the hemp room to the hashish room, to the pharmaceutical bottles from the past, everything. Yes, and Todd is, of course, right above the hemp museum in Amsterdam right now. So he's staying at Ben's place. Once again, the kindness of Ben, allowing him to stay at that museum.
BubblemanYeah, I'm impressed with the... With the museums, it's a good thing to do. It's definitely, I mean, that's some philanthropy shit right there.
BubblemanProper kind.
SpeakerYo, I would love to see you in Denver. I'm going to join the bandwagon of everybody in here. It would be dope. Super dope. Cuban, when are you coming out to California? Soon, man. I really want to try to judge the NorCal Cup, so I'm going to talk to the people out in Denver, whoever I can get with, see if they can give me the opportunity, and if that's the case, then I'll be going down there for sure.
SpeakerIs that the Emerald Cup? No, the NorCal High Times Cup.
BubblemanOh, the NorCal High Times Cup. Nice. Yeah. There's so many cups.
SpeakerYeah, man. I figure, like, NorCal, to me, in my opinion, as... Someone that learned how to make hash, you know, in the last couple years, it looks like the popping spot for hash making here in the U.S. A lot of hash makers there. A lot of them, man. So I feel like if they come out to the competitions, it would be an honor for me to judge it just to be able to experience all those, you know, high quality hash from that region.
SpeakerSure. I will compete, but I'm getting tired of competing. Dude.
Etienne FontanCalifornia has a lot of experienced growers and competitors.
Etienne FontanI'd love to see you here judging, that's for sure.
BubblemanDude, I'd love to be down there judging.
SpeakerI'm coming with you, Cuban. You should. Hey, man, it would be great. I think if you go, if I go, and I know the other judges in the panel for High Times, it would be very fair and definitely a great experience, man. I love Cali. When I went there, it was awesome.
BubblemanDo you want to hear the craziest thing about my life? I, are you guys ready for this, Hash Church? I've never been to Cali. It's cold.
SpeakerI got a bed for you in my house, Mark. Hell, I've been kicked out of Canada before.
Etienne FontanJesus Christ. I was traveling with LV Muzika on Heptour back in 93, and we went up through, from Seattle, we were going to speak in Vancouver, and And on the way, she left her tin with a lawyer in Seattle. And when we went through, we were with Cannabis Action Network, and we had all kinds of stickers in the van inside. So they're like, pull over. They found all our stuff.
Etienne FontanAnd then they find her legal marijuana from Mississippi and set off a firestorm. We were kicked out of the country. And we actually had the Vancouver Sun come interview us. At the Burger King, then it was on the front page the next day, and then we went down and had to get our van back because they impounded and everything, but yeah, crazy, crazy time there in Canada.
BubblemanWould that have been during the Industrial Hemp Conference?
Etienne FontanNo, I don't think it was for that. We were just going to speak at a rally because we just did one in Bellingham, and so we were swinging up, and then we got kicked out, and there was nothing we could do, so At that point, we just carried on our way over into Idaho because we did a 13-state tour of doing rally speeches and educating people using Jack's book and everything and spreading the word in the dark ages.
Etienne FontanThat's what we were doing.
BubblemanDude, Jack's book is literally how we got hemp growing in 1994 in Manitoba. It was like we just used that book. We created our own little sort of condensed version of how we would approach our Minister of Agriculture and our Minister of Finance. And this was back when I was like 18, 19 years old, smoking lots of herb, and my dad was kind of like, look, if you're going to do the herb thing, like you want to do the herb thing, then just do it right.
BubblemanYou know, don't do it in some way that's just not right. Do it right. And right away we were like, okay, well we're from Manitoba, like we have the prairies, like we should probably look at getting hemp growing, and people were like, yeah, yeah, good luck on getting hemp growing, you know, that'll happen when hell freezes over, blah, blah, blah, and We started approaching our government and I'll never forget the guy's name.
BubblemanIt was Ross Hossie. And it reminds me of that other guy, the one you mentioned with the monkeys there, Nahas? Gabriel Nahas. Nahas, right. So Gabriel Nahas always reminded me name-wise of Ross Hossie. And Ross Hossie was the person you got in touch with at the Health Canada Bureau of Dangerous Drugs and Narcotics. He was the one that would give you a license for hemp. But back then in 93, 94, there was no actual application.
BubblemanYou just had to kind of send in your own version of what you thought an application was, and then of course they would send something back going, no, no, no, you need to do this and do that. So you'd have to do that for months and months and months. I can't believe how easy it was to get hemp growing in Canada in 1994 by simply approaching the government, telling them that it was potentially a trillion dollar crop and that they could make many, many, many things out of it, They just were growing that shit like eight or nine months later.
BubblemanIn a year and a half, Canada actually changed its law, which is amazing because I don't even think it was ever written about in like a magazine or anything. But the wording from experimental basically meant there was zero profit to be made off of hemp in Canada through the experimental stature of the law. And when they changed that word to commercial, You were suddenly able to overnight make money legally off of growing hemp in Canada.
BubblemanSo a little bit of history there for you guys. That was 94, 95.
SpeakerAnd then I'll say actually thank you, Mark, because that's where we're getting a majority of our hemp seed oil from the health food stores in America because it's all Canadian hemp that's actually doing it. And that was like the first industry that we're getting out of the hemp industry. So thank you.
BubblemanYou know, literally, we couldn't have done that without Jack's book. That was literally like one... We were just mere facilitators of the information. We were like, we read it, we understood it, and more importantly, we were able to articulate it at will, specific bits of information to these ministers who were just like, oh, like after like five good articulations, they were like ready to plant a thousand acres.
Etienne FontanThey were just like, time out. Jack Carrere... I came to West Virginia University in 1989 along with Debbie Goldsberry. And when I got that book, facilitators, how many of us here went around to parties and quoted Jack Carrere's book all the time to where there's significant others like, look, will you just shut up about this pot stuff?
SpeakerLike, no, you don't get it. You don't get the thing.
BubblemanIt was amazing. You know, I met Debbie back in the day, too, back in the 90s, like probably in the mid-90s, I think. Probably around there, and when she came up, I think it was Hillary Black who introduced me to Debbie, and she brought a bunch of the people down from back in the day, back, you know, 96 maybe, 97.
Etienne FontanYeah, old school, OGs, good people, good activists, still going to this day, all day long.
BubblemanYeah, you know, living, walking the walk, talking the talk, and walking the walk, that's what I like.
BubblemanMuch respect. Yes, dabs. Dabs, everyone. Dabs, dabs. Soon to be dabs. A dab to that. I'll dab again. Did you watch the last video, Tony, of you, like, schooling those women from Brooklyn?
SpeakerYeah, that was, I did see that. I forgot I was even in that conversation, and then I looked at it, and I was like, oh, yeah, that's right, we were judging, and I turned around, and it was like eight women all curious about, like, What was going on?
BubblemanDude, it was this sort of random break in my judging because it's like I hit seven steam pipes in a row and then that clip was just like, oh, I better include that because Tony's dropping knowledge. Plus, it is funny, the Jamaican guy that you give some to rub on his temple, he's in the background like super interested, like watching over the shoulders and then you give him a little bit of the cream.
BubblemanHe's got this bump on his head and he stands there with this super serious look and he does this. Yeah. With his middle finger. It's pretty funny. I don't know how much I love Jamaica lately.
SpeakerI like getting outside of the bubble.
BubblemanYes, you do. That's what the rosin's all about.
SpeakerGetting inside the bubble.
SpeakerSo I think I might know what Cuban's talking about, though. That's why I was actually, when Jeff was on earlier and I was talking about this de-waxing process and he didn't like the terminology and we didn't know if we could call the heads of the trichomes literally a wax or a cellulose membrane. It's some sort of material for sure that you're leaving behind. I wish I could get like a five micron or smaller Hey, that one looks killer, bro.
SpeakerThat one was, that's like, that's what you're, that's what I would imagine your dry sift would look like if you're going to 99. I got a little, I got a little 20 gram slab that it's about to get packaged up made from 99 and it has a really beautiful color but that right there looks like on the camera at least like some nice.
BubblemanYou've got a little 20 gram slab of rosin made from 99% dry sift heads? Yeah, okay, so let me tell you the story.
SpeakerBro, I hate the shirt prints, alright? I'm just going to say that. I don't know if I like it anymore. So we had this 99% jar and we were trying to make a really nice presentable rosin. And the idea was to juice it from 28 grams. We had 23 grams of rosin, right? But when I looked through the slab, I'm like, damn, it looks a little bit like milky.
SpeakerSo I'm like, all right, all right, we're going to break it down again and we're going to filter it again with the shirt press. Now, because the material was already an oil, you know, it's like post the first filtration of the rosin. That shirt press has a big ass area like this, right? So I thought beforehand, I'm like, man, I got to put like some sort of piece of wood or something like that to let the oil slide out and not get squished by the shirt press.
SpeakerBut I guess I didn't think about it. And I'm like, instead, I'm going to put a lower pressure, fold the edges of the portrait and, you know, see what happens. Brother, when I put down that shirt press, all that oil just like started coming out through the sides and it was a disaster, dog. I had to go and do the 20 grams piece by piece with a hair iron, cleaning the filter time by time again to make sure it came out perfect, and it came out good.
SpeakerYeah, so what I do is I do the hair iron, and I do the filter, and then I keep a chunk of hash, and then I put the parchment paper and elongate it. We've got a lot of different types of plants. We've got a lot of different types of plants. We've got a lot of different types of plants. We've got a lot of different types of plants.
SpeakerTo roll it out and all the air bubbles come out and then I just, I put it in a Ziploc bag and in a freezer for like, I don't know, 15 minutes. All that happens very quickly and it comes out like straight fire like that. Yeah, that shit looks like straight fire. So let me ask you, you have not had any issues while adding back the turps with it having any sort of waxing out?
SpeakerBecause I didn't think rosin could wax out considering the heat and the filtration and everything it goes through. But mine is, you know, I have to go through measures to make sure it doesn't happen. Yeah, I think that's also the discovery process of what kind of resin heads you're working with and what you're starting with as well, you know? So maybe because your dry sift is so bomb and you're getting these big, huge heads, you're having to deal with more of that cellulose.
SpeakerAnd the way you're capturing it, you know?
BubblemanNah, he's in the Pacific Northwest and you're in Colorado.
SpeakerYeah, well, I'm leaving behind these waxes that look pure white and very chalky. And I don't know if they press out or not, but it reminds me a lot of what I see of BHO makers, what they get from their de-waxing. When they do the single solvent that they get like a white pasty cake or whatever, you know, it looked like a very similar color to that.
SpeakerI wish I could have saved it, man, but I tried to press it out.
ToddThat's exactly what this is. This is waxes and lipids from the plant. Exactly.
SpeakerWhen you're pressing it, when you're pressing it with the heat, with the transfer, the machine, T-shirt press, whatever you want to call it, you're basically melting that wax into a liquid Everything into a liquid form and it's got to escape somehow so it's going right through your filter. Yeah. And ending up into your thing. So you're basically, you're de-waxing your product, you know, when you pull that stuff out.
SpeakerYeah, for sure, man. And that 25 micron, although it's dope, I think the true key is when Mark releases those 5 microns or if there's anything smaller, you know, since it's an oil, it's going to go through even the smallest holes I could imagine. Yeah, it's going to make some bombs. So I had to re-filter this shit like six to seven times, bro, to get it right.
SpeakerIt's got to escape now, so it's going right through your filter. Yeah. Oh! I think... I want to interject. I didn't think you'd be waxing anything. Yeah, I don't... Not to tell... What we're de-waxing was really winterization, and winterization came out of actually trying to clean up mayonnaise by when we started refrigerating the stuff. I mean, if you look up the patent for winterization, it's an old patent where scientists figured out that they could separate fats from triglycerides that would float up to the top and make the mayonnaise unsightly.
SpeakerSo when Kenny actually wrote How to Clean Your Concentrates, What he was talking about was basically trying to get this cuticle layer of wax that is formed on the leaf away from the oils that come from the trichromes. So if you were actually going to put it through a de-waxing process, what you're trying to do is separate your cannabinoids from that leaf cuticle layer of waxiness Thank you for watching.
SpeakerLike I'm eating right now does not make a pizza. You know, so you need to have everything else in it for it to be complete. And honestly, so I think when we're squishing these buds, all we're doing is excreting the easiest to release cannabinoids, which are really popping the resin heads. That's all we're doing. And we're doing it under heat, which is the oldest way of making happens.
SpeakerSo, I mean, I guess I don't know what the exact term is, but I'm trying to go from an oil that looks cloudy to one that's clear and, you know, and in my opinion, I think what I'm getting rid of is what's not oil left out and in
SpeakerThe rosin. To try to put it into simple terms. And I believe the key to do it is for sure the heat and a good filter.
SpeakerAnd timing. Yeah, I don't know. Okay, so somebody else hit me up. They're like, hey, I'm getting the same issue with dry sift. My dry sift, when I press it into rosin, it starts getting cloudy too. I don't know. If I do water hash, bro, I'm telling you, I would have never found that out. My water hash rosin comes out so flamed. But with the dry sift, it's when I ran into a...
SpeakerSo do you microplane your water hash? No, I don't. I sieve it right as soon as I take it out of the bag. I wick it dry and then I sieve it and stick it in the back. Okay. Yeah, because I have... This is made from water, not dry sift. Yeah, the water hash comes out better, bro. Yeah, fresh frozen too. Yeah, it's like auto butter, dude.
SpeakerJust like auto butter, like... I don't know. It looks unappealing to me.
ToddIt's all about the water. Water plays a much, much bigger role in this process than we believe. Yeah. All about the water.
ToddYeah.
BubblemanWelcome to Matt Bear, and the great gardener just came in. His mic was a little bit... Yeah. Nice to see you, buddy.
SpeakerCongrats, homie. Water hash comes out better, bro. Yeah, fresh frozen, too. Yeah, it's like Autobotter, dude. Just like Autobotter. I don't know.
BubblemanI think you might have the YouTube chat open, and it's coming through as well, Matt. You've got to figure out either headphones or turn off the YouTube chat or turn down your speakers a bit because you are reverberating. The Great Gardener just came in. His mic was a little bit reverberating. Can you hear me now? Nice to see you, buddy.
SpeakerCan you hear me now?
BubblemanMaybe if other people try muting their mics, it might work. I think you might have the YouTube chat open and it's coming through as well, Matt. You've got to figure out either headphones or turn off the YouTube chat or turn down your speakers a bit because you are reverberating.
BubblemanHe'll figure that out, and then we will wait for him to join this conversation. It's not very often we get the great gardener in the house. Now we've got to censor him. We're not censoring him so much. We're just waiting for him to get his shit together. Dad break. Dad break. It'll be quick. Headphones is the easiest way to take care of it, but if you do turn down your...
BubblemanSpeakers, that's also another way to often turn.
Mark ScaldoniDid that work?
BubblemanThat worked.
SpeakerYo, Greg Gardner kills it, huh? Every time he goes on to compete. Yeah, yeah. We had a great time in Spanibus. Absolutely. Absolutely fantastic really to tell you the truth. A real eye-opener actually because we actually got the barber bud tested and it came in at 64.4% THC for a water hash. In fact, it was so high that the guys at the Cannabinoid Masters Tournament put it into the solvent category because the guy that got second place And it was actually the original winner of it.
SpeakerIt was like a Mexican sativa and it tested at 37%, I think it was. And then the next day when I asked the guys who had won, they mentioned, I forget who it was, but it was like 83%. And then I asked who the solventless winner was, and they actually showed me this Mexican sativa at 37%. And I was like, oh, whoa, what did my Barb 90 do?
SpeakerAnd he goes down the list, and he's in the solvent list, and he gets to mine, and it was 65. And I'm like, no, no, mine was a water hush. And he was like, no. And I'm like, yeah, I pulled it out. I had a piece with me, so I pulled it out, and I showed it to him. I'm like, here, here you go. And he's just perplexed.
SpeakerAnd he goes over and he has this conversation with three other Spanish guys. And then one of the other guys, he comes over and he puts his hand down and he's like, very sorry, you are the winner. And then I think it happened again at the Secret Cup. A lot of guys thought it was a buttered out solvent. And it wasn't until sort of the end that everyone sort of realized that it was a non-solvent.
SpeakerSo a lot of controversy was created at Barcelona by producing a piece of hash that was mistaken for a buttered out solvent. And then we made the rosin piece with it and it was like clear. It was clear. So yeah, I have the access to get stuff tested. So I think maybe next week I'm going to take some Barbara bud, I'm going to make dry sift with it.
SpeakerI'm going to clean it. And then I'm going to also make rosin with it. I'm going to get all three of those things tested, not only for terpene values, but cannabinoid analysis also. So we'll see sometime maybe in a couple weeks sort of what those terpene profiles come out at. Dude, I want to come and film that. Yeah, that'd be great. Film it to the point where we then send it to the lab.
BubblemanWell, you film it, and then you wait for the lab results, and then we get together again, and we film the part about talking about the lab results, and then that's the video. It could take two or three weeks or whatever, but it would be a worthwhile adventure.
SpeakerYeah, yeah, totally, totally. Good times.
BubblemanAbsolutely.
SpeakerWe need Rosin with the barb. Barbzin. Barbzin. We did.
BubblemanSorry, it got its own name. Yeah, that shit got named like eight seconds after it got squeezed out of the hash. That's Barbzin. I remember saying it and then looking at Facebook like minutes later and being like, holy shit, it's already posted. Like it's posted. There, it's already, like there it is. Like that's, all right, that's a thing now.
SpeakerA couple days later we were trying to make a name, right, because it was like Barb Sin. I'm like, I don't know if I want that Sin, S-I-N in there, Barb Sin. Like, whatever, what can you do? You can't, it is what it is now, right? It's already out there. It already has its own. Hashtag... It sure was delicious, let's just be honest. Oh, it was great.
BubblemanAnd dude, I'm telling you, you have got to try the Rene CBD. You gotta squeeze some of that dry sift, and I'm telling you, I think it might be the tastiest rip I've ever had, dude. It's like candy, it's so fucking strong, I was just blown away by it.
SpeakerWell, you've seen the fridge and you've seen the piles and the bags that sort of lie around here. So the rosin tech truly works the way it does. As I said, I said, I'm like, dude, I'm going to have to hire someone to do that.
BubblemanLiterally, that'll be a job for someone exactly.
SpeakerFor sure. If anybody out there wants a job making rosin at the Great Gardener Farms, hit me up on YouTube or some Facebook. Oh, what's that, Devin? You're interested in that?
BubblemanThat sounds great.
SpeakerAre you in Whistler again? You go to Whistler every day, every Sunday?
BubblemanYeah, my son does ski school, so this is why Hash Church is from this part of town. We did Hash Church in Jamaica a couple of weeks ago, of course. That was fun at the Beach Comber. Tony and I looked like we were in Alabama. And then the next week, I think I was back home, and then the week after that, I was with Todd and Lauren and Etienne, and we were at the museum.
BubblemanThat was fun. Unfortunately had some technical difficulties, but from now on we're rolling with military-grade internet, redundancies, and cords.
SpeakerYeah, we were in India just as you and Todd were leaving. I'm glad. We would have been like banging on the door of the museum. Come on, let us in.
BubblemanYou were almost banging on the hood of our car when we left that parking lot.
SpeakerYeah, totally, literally. As you were coming out of the parking lot into the road, you had to stop for me.
BubblemanYep. Talk about a small world, hey?
SpeakerI had a few of those actually in our apartment down in the Goddick District. As I stepped out onto the street, literally we were right there, 2,000 year old streets, you know. I looked around the corner and my buddies from Grotech were walking down the street, so I went back into the door and waited until they walked by and I was like, hash for sale, hash for sale.
SpeakerThey were just like, what the fuck? I'm like, oh, second job.
BubblemanYou want barb? I have only barb 90 micron. I give you good price, my friend.
SpeakerTotally, totally. What a great place, Barcelona, I have to say. I have to say it's probably now my number one favorite city. San Francisco used to be my number one favorite city, but I'm not allowed to visit San Francisco anymore. So I'd have to say that Barcelona is now my favorite city.
BubblemanWell, it's definitely high up on my list. I have really grown accustomed to Kingston of all cities. I love landing there. I love getting picked up by my friends. I love the music and the food and the people and the culture. Man, I can't wait until more of you guys get down to Jamaica and we can have some gatherings down there because there's going to be some fun to be had.
SpeakerSo I can't see anybody in their picture moving. Can everybody hear me? Everybody?
Jen DoeYeah. I can hear you. Yeah.
SpeakerI can hear you, bro. Cool. Loud and clear.
BubblemanEveryone sounds well-baked right now.
SpeakerI have to thank DNA Animatics for allowing me to... I don't know if they allowed me, but I sort of stuck a sticker on... Aaron's shirt, little tiny, little tiny House of the Great Gardeners sticker I stuck on his shirt. Then the Weed Maps guys came over and grabbed Don and Aaron and proceeded to do like a half an hour, 45 minute interview that I'm sure will be seen hundreds of thousands of times.
SpeakerAs Aaron comes back to the table for a dab, he sits down and he still has the sticker on his shirt. So I sort of have to say thanks to the DNA guys for Letting me continue my marketing on a dime campaign because that little sticker cost me a dime.
BubblemanI'm not sure if you know it, but the Bubble Man videos that you've done have about 650,000 views on them total right now.
SpeakerThat's crazy.
BubblemanThat didn't even cost you a dime.
SpeakerYeah, for sure. See, you're going to make a fortune off your fame now, bro. Campaign's doing well.
BubblemanDude, ask him how many times he got stopped in Spain and asked to take a picture.
SpeakerTotally. It was nutty. That was a little nutty. It was the first time he was ever out, bro. Of course they're going to want to take a picture of this guy, bro. He's special. He's a good guy. It was good fun. Good. It was great fun.
BubblemanGreat people at Spanibus this year. You know, if the easiest thing you can do in a day is abide by taking a picture with someone, how great is that to make someone happy just by sharing a picture with them?
SpeakerHey, let me ask you Canadian guys a question real quick. What's going on with the cases? Are they going to open it up on the West Coast? Is my wife getting it? Her wish right now, bro, you know? It's just a waiting game now. It's just a waiting, I would say. It's in our favor, bud, right? It's almost every time you get into the ring and have a fight.
SpeakerIf you don't finish the fight, it's always in the judge's hands at the end. So right now, it's in the judge's hands.
BubblemanAnd that's the worst.
SpeakerYeah. But good. Like both cases, both cases were fantastic. The Aylor trial, every single witness that the government put on the stand. Just got roasted. Really, most of the time for pure conjecture. Like, people going on there as researchers, like the police chief saying that he's a researcher, saying that, you know, marijuana houses have high levels of mold, but when asked what was the average mold level of an average house, he couldn't tell you.
SpeakerWhen asked what was the mold level of a law-abiding medical marijuana patient that went and got the electrician and the plumber and all the trades and all the permits and everything they needed to build a room, what was the average mold in a room like that? He didn't know. The only numbers that he had were numbers from busts, were numbers from illegal people that were renting houses, that don't own their houses, that don't care if they wreck the house.
SpeakerReally, prohibition houses, I guess is what you've got to call them. And the fire chief, like the fire chief, the first thing they said, asked the fire chief was if you had a medical marijuana license and you called the electrician and got all the permits and everything that you needed to do to build that room within your house, would there be a fire risk? And the answer was no.
SpeakerSo every witness, every witness from the Health Canada witnesses, they pulled in people from the Netherlands and a bunch of countries, and they were more our help. Then help for the government. So for me, it's like I can't see how the judge at the end of the day is going to say that the fact that Health Canada took the Grow license away from 40,000 people after a program that ran for 14 years is constitutional.
SpeakerAnd I just can't see that happening. And then the Supreme Court case just went fantastic to the point where The Supreme Court judges shut down the Crown prosecutor a few times for going down not the road, right? Going down these weird tangents that the government likes to take you down. So they got shut down. On a couple times. So both cases were fantastic. Now it's just a waiting game.
SpeakerThe Aylard trial, no matter who wins, if we win or they win, I guarantee that they'll go to an appeal. And so that can will get kicked down the road for another year or so, I believe. And then the Supreme Court, the Supreme Court, they can take as long as they want to give a decision. So until that happens, we... We grow and we learn and we get better and better.
SpeakerAnd every day more people are figuring out that cannabis works for them. So kick that can right into the election. And then hopefully we can get rid of Harper.
BubblemanThat's got to happen. Holy shit, man. I'll pop a big fat bong rip on that note. Totally.
SpeakerI had to go to the freezer and get some hash.
BubblemanAfter much deliberation, I have to say, I think the egg is my favorite mothership. I sure missed my egg.
SpeakerWe got all silent here and shit with that hit.
BubblemanWell, sometimes we have to... Hey, let's not be smiling.
SpeakerWe could talk about weed. I was like, are we just going to put the bubbles of the fad egg here or something?
BubblemanYou ever done hash church on weed? Actually, yes.
SpeakerYes. Secret Cup Awards. That blew everybody's minds. Yeah, I did it.
BubblemanThat was special. Set up shop, dropped the fucking detail, and didn't leave. Dude, I'm telling you, it was unbelievable. We puffed for like hours and hours and hours.
SpeakerUntil we cleaned the place up and left. Yes, we did.
BubblemanYeah, it was great hanging out with you, bro. My goodness, come on.
SpeakerYou know, I think everybody has to come together. It's all cannabinoids and cannabis. You know, we should try to separate fractions. You know, people want to make water hash or whatever, man. It's all about appreciating the plant.
BubblemanYou want to see something classically Canadian right here? This is just like on my friend's table when I walk in. I'm like, what the fuck is this? He's like, oh, I was just doing a little bit of trimming. It's finger rub.
BubblemanYou got your heat iron? Now, yeah, of course. I got it right next to me. We're about to press in. It's like marijuana. Is that all finger hash, bro? This is all finger rub, dude.
SpeakerDude, he is like molesting the buds, bro. Devin, what are you doing?
SpeakerDon't molest the weed like that, bro. Hold it from the stem.
SpeakerAre we playing that game, Matt? Oh, man. Hey, Aaron, you know they made a meme about you? I saw it a couple weeks ago. I've seen a few memes about me. It's in Hash Church. It was a Hash Church meme, though. It's in Hash Church. When you think you have a bag of hash or something, then Aaron pulls out. Yeah, are you going to do the Bag of Weed meme version 2?
SpeakerGet your print screen ready. Make a meme.
BubblemanHere, there it is. I found it, Aaron. I'm going to post it right now into the chat. Here's the Aaron meme right there.
BubblemanHere's a little bit of it. When you think you got a lot of sift, then Aaron shows you this.
SpeakerThat was funny. I just want to open this up and permeate the whole room full of citrus smell.
BubblemanListen, if that shit smells enough, it should stink up the room I'm in.
SpeakerI can smell it from here. What's that bag of? Tangy.
BubblemanGood guess, eh? Tangy. Tangy.
SpeakerTangy winner. Winner at the, I guess it's not technically the Spanibus Award, the Cannibus Champions. Would you guys win?
BubblemanJust like 114 things. It's too hard to list. Let's just not, don't ask him to list it, please.
SpeakerSee that again? Only in the last seven days. What have you guys won in the last seven days? Not as much as you, my brother. You're the grand wizard right now, dude. And being my friend, you kept me high pretty much the whole weekend, bro. So I got much respect for the great Gardner, bro. That dude's, you know, he's a real stand-up cat. I don't know. Something about those Canadian people, they were good-hearted.
SpeakerMuch respect, buddy. It's our lack of guns. And your continued success in this industry is going to be phenomenal, bro. I'm looking forward to watching you grow as a company, homie. Thank you, brother. Hell yeah. Yeah, for sure, man. From the hash and everything that we saw in Spanibus this year, In just one year, like I had so many dudes bring me their dry sift. I had so many dudes bring me their water hash.
SpeakerMe too, dude.
BubblemanIt's how I stayed high the whole week actually was I probably got given like maybe 20 plus samples of like nice full melt dry sift and full melt wet wash.
SpeakerTotally. I think at one time Jeff, our buddy Jeff from Skunk Funk in Saskatchewan there, he showed up and I think at one time he was like, hey, you know, you got any buds or anything? And I just reached into the bottom of my bag and I must have pulled out like 20 little sample jars of buds. You had so many. I was just like, yeah, here you go.
BubblemanJust the barb ones alone, like I survived on the two little pieces of barb you gave me, dude. Every morning I wake and bake with the barb, and then of course, everyone thought I had a pound of it. So anytime anyone saw me, they'd be like, do you have the barb? And I'd be like, well, yeah, I do actually.
SpeakerI love the barb, bro. I love the barb, bro. And you know, and it's like, Barb is love. You really could taste that shish keberry in there. Oh, yeah. Well, dude. Same with Nicole.
BubblemanGuaranteed that Shishka Berry is one of, Shishka Berry is going to be a strain that people should pay careful attention to because it's kind of like Renee. It was the first strain that I ever used before I ran anything through the bags that melted. Shishka Berry from Breeders Steve, I'll never forget him bringing it over and going about all this Shishka Berry trim and popcorn nug, you know, you want to try it out.
BubblemanI'm like, what line? He's like, it's the yellow one. I'm like, okay, great, yeah. I ran it through only two bags and it was like full melt.
SpeakerYeah, you know, you know what's really cool about being, I just got back from like the whole Spanibus thing and I was in Amsterdam for maybe six, six, seven days and I haven't been back, you know, I only go back to Amsterdam maybe once or twice a year and I gotta go look in the fridge and, you know, be reunited with all, all of the genetics that I've saved over, I can't tell you, all the years, the whole time and I have like some old original like Breeders Steve DJ Short collaboration stuff.
SpeakerAnd I'm looking forward to diving into those, some of those old things whenever they, yeah, whenever I, you know, whenever I can. I don't want to say.
BubblemanDude, check this out. Even in Spain, in Barcelona, when I was over at Javier's place for medical seeds, and Javier's got the fire. That guy always, he wins tons of competitions that he enters. He He won at the Secret Cup for Best Solvent List. He won with... No name. Which one was it?
SpeakerNo name.
BubblemanNo name, exactly. But the one that he showed me at his house, which was Devil Fruit, super fruity and incredibly full melty. I'm like, what did you make this with? And he's like, well, I made it with the shishka berry. And I'm like, shishka berry? Come on, where did you get the shishka berry? And he pulls the old, oh, I got it from Breeder Steve like 13 years ago.
BubblemanI'm like, holy shit, dude. The shish keberry just keeps representing in all of these award-winning strains the devil fruit, the barb, the Nicole. Shish keberry is like a consistent in the back line of all three of those genetics.
SpeakerYeah, a true hash genetic.
BubblemanI'd love to see the shish keberry crossed with the tangy. That's what I'm saying right there.
SpeakerYeah, the cats in London still have, I still have access to the original Shishkaberry yellow line. Yeah, I would expect that. The boys in London are holding it down.
BubblemanYeah, Pete should still have that. I mean, someone, maybe even Chimera still has it, I don't know. Steve, if not, probably has access to it if he himself doesn't have it, but that's good. I think that's an important line to... That would be a great strain, in my opinion, to share. Steve's not all hoarded out on it. He's not running a huge seed company with it anymore.
BubblemanIt's not like he has rules. What's that?
SpeakerHe's in the wine business with me. Yeah. So I missed it each time you talked to the door. I think eventually it will, right? There will be a few specific genetics that are known for what they do. So shish kebari is one of those ones that's just fruity, top quality hash, but quantity. You also get quantity. That's the other thing that's so special about it. It literally pushes out twice as much.
SpeakerI'm going to take off. Thank you for having me, Mark. Cuban, who else do we got here? ATN, Horatio, Jen, welcome. Mark, thank you for your knowledge also. Matt, love you, brother. Can't wait to do a collab with you guys. It's going to be good. I'll see you in Denver. Tony, either Cali or Denver, I'll talk to you Tuesday.
SpeakerPeace out, world.
BubblemanPeace out, player. Have a good day, dog. I'll holler at you. Thanks for coming in. And welcome, Jen Doe, who I didn't even get to say welcome to yet. Sometimes we're in mid-conversation, but I'm glad you made it in. Jen, welcome.
Jen DoeHi, guys. How are you?
SpeakerHey, Jen. Yo. My lady says what's up.
Jen DoeOh, hi. I'm going to try and make it up to see you guys in the next couple of days.
SpeakerHell, yeah.
BubblemanThat'll be fun.
SpeakerYeah, whenever you come through.
BubblemanStarting to be cold. That's good. How are you? It's not like it's like plus ten out there. Yes, we want snow here in Whistler. My son called me earlier from up top the mountain and he was like, Dad, there's like five feet of snow up here. It's been a bit of a harsh season, so I guess it's rained a lot in the last few days and now the snow's gathering up there, so.
BubblemanI'm sacrificing the snow for all the Hash Church peeps. And we've had 600 plus viewers in pretty much since the beginning of Hash Church, so that's pretty darn cool. I do feel like it's a responsibility that we have to dwell deeper and deeper. We have to, you know, no stone left unturned. And it feels like a strong responsibility that we have to the masses out there right now that are just dying to learn about as much as they possibly can with cannabis.
BubblemanAnd, you know, I guess the now of the plant, what's going on with extractions, what's going on with, How people are using the plant, both medicinally, preventatively, and recreationally. It's a pretty incredible story, you know, the story of cannabis and where it's at in its cycle right now. Like, it is seemingly coming into the peak of its life, at least in our history that we know of it.
BubblemanWhen has cannabis ever been stronger?
Etienne FontanWell, I think if we rolled it up that hill, I think it's now getting ready to roll downhill pretty hard.
BubblemanYeah, that's what I'm saying. I'm feeling that pretty strong myself, Etienne.
SpeakerIt's been a big effort, man.
Etienne FontanHow many generations before us, how many of those who fell the fire and continue to hold the fire in your country, our country, over in Spain, we saw that, you know, they're getting harassed the same way that we get harassed. Sure. Yep.
BubblemanThey do. Yet people like Christina Sanchez and many others who are pushing forward the testing and the learning. The science, if you will. These are a very important factor. It's why we like to have Mark present as often as we can, because none of us are scientists. He is a scientist. He's got the knowledge and the background. And it's important for people who are interested in this not to limit themselves in any...
BubblemanI like the idea of Hash Church really sort of talking to the youth and sort of helping them... Just from our recent trip to Denver,
ToddWe were there because the American Chemical Society, one of the oldest scientific organizations on the planet, has decided to start a cannabis chemistry division, which is good news. So there's going to be a lot of chemists employed in this industry in the future, and it's very good when the professional society embraces the notion that there will be roles for it to play. Especially around educating and making sure that people who want to get into the industry have a place to turn to so they can understand what type of education they need to participate in the industry.
Etienne FontanYeah, I would say also botany is needed. You know, we don't just need scientists, we need botanists out there as well.
BubblemanAbsolutely, man, 100%. When Rob comes in and talks, it's often inspiring because you've got your agriculture, you've got the botany aspect, you've got your extraction processes, the scientific. There's so many different aspects of cannabis that it's literally, really, no matter what interest you have, you could potentially intertwine it with cannabis.
ToddYeah, plant molecular physiologists are needed. And people who want to do cancer research, people who are interested in how cannabinoids work to control tumors. It's a very exciting field. And to think that, again, most of us who have a daily consumption of cannabis really are revitalizing our endocannabinoid systems to hopefully be resisting cancer later on in life. Cancer is the bodies overcome by exposure to carcinogens over your period of life.
ToddAnd if you have these cannabinoids and your cannabinoid system has been revitalized throughout your life, you really stand to be a whole lot more resistant to coming to cancer.
BubblemanHey, who's your friend, Jen?
BubblemanMy name is Anna.
Jen DoeGo ahead. Sorry, we're on mute. This is Anna. Hi, I'm Anna.
SpeakerI'm from Eugene, Oregon, visiting Jen, hanging out with you guys.
Jen DoeAnna actually has a really cool story if she wants to share it.
SpeakerI actually have a disabled child with brain injury. And about two years ago, I started really embracing the medical side of cannabis. And it's such a long story, but now she's just a completely new person. She has traumatic brain injury, but due to just learning things and growing good medicine and making oils for her and creating edibles that she can eat, she's essentially seizure-free unless she won't eat something or if she doesn't feel good.
SpeakerBut she's just a whole new person talking and Just, it's an incredible story. It is. Yeah.
Jen DoeYeah, we're going to be doing some documentation on it so that she can get her story out there. Up until now, you know, she's kind of just kept it locally to herself and just word of mouth has started to spread about how amazing this turnaround has been for her daughter, so.
BubblemanThat's amazing. That's amazing.
SpeakerHow old is your daughter? She is 16 years old and, um, My babysitter actually shook her when she was six months old when I was at work one day and she had two surgeries where the first one there was just a bunch of swelling on her brain and so the doctor removed the school plate for a while and then went back in a few weeks later and put it back in and she just essentially had so many seizures every day.
SpeakerIt was like a hundred seizures a day as an infant. Over the years she just took so much Depakote that it turned her into a zombie and she was so unhealthy just from head to toe and just really researching it and having the right people approach me and I'm just a hippie tie-dye mama that you know would go to hemp festivals to sell tie-dye and people would see me with my daughter and bring me edibles and you know I would see the effects, the amazing effects and just over time underground I started Giving her tinctures and the RSO is what we were introduced.
SpeakerAnd then, you know, recently I've been learning more about bubble hash and just have been introduced to Jen. But really it took a lot of nerves and anxiety to take her off of her seizure meds and do it when I just wasn't sure and I was scared. I have four children. I'm a single mom with four daughters. And so it was just paranoia all the time. But now I'm just her teachers, her doctors, everybody's so proud and so impressed that basically, you know, there's nothing they can say about what I'm doing that's wrong.
SpeakerAnd so I'm definitely being embraced. And she's doing so incredible. She's verbal. I mean, beyond words, especially with high CBD medication, definitely THC and CBDs together are the key. And that's just something I learned over my own experimentation and growing and making oils. But, um, It's really cool listening to you guys and just there's so much to learn. It's pretty intense. It is. But she's doing good with whatever we're doing now and then I can't imagine with all the knowledge from everybody what we can do to make medicine for people like her, you know?
BubblemanIt's pretty awesome. Absolutely. Well, we definitely appreciate you coming in and sharing your story. I know that people are inspired to listen to the things that are shared in Hash Church. Sure, they love the science and the depth of knowledge that we can get into, but it seems like the real sort of human interest story, the story like yours, the story that has real soul to it, Well, you realize the importance of these essential phytocannabinoids and how important they are to regulating our biological function when it seems as though it's a miracle.
BubblemanWhen it seems as though, how could you have a hundred seizures a day and then not have any after taking such a small amount of a cannabis extract? That's kind of what we're here sharing with everyone, that this is a real thing.
BubblemanWith no side effects. Well, with the only side effect is euphoria, feeling good, enjoying music a little bit more, maybe wanting to dance more often and even have more fun while you're playing. I can't imagine a better side effect for my child while it's potentially curing a life-threatening illness or increasing the quality of his or her life by a thousandfold.
SpeakerYeah, we always like to say that it's the only drug that people take actually for the side effects.
ToddThe best medicine is laughter.
BubblemanYes. And how inspired is laughter by the intake of phytocannabinoids?
ToddRevitalization.
SpeakerGG bless. GG bless.
ToddYeah, if you can give your child back laughter that you haven't heard ever, I can only imagine... With an earth as gross as... Sold by a drug company at a drug store, paid for by insurance companies. Give me a break.
BubblemanYeah, only the parents... Fed their kids pharmaceuticals and seen the devastation can really, really know just how seriously fucked up these drugs are that they try to feed us.
Jen DoeShe says there's eight pages of negative side effects for the medications that her daughter was on.
SpeakerIt was crazy and she pretty much was suffering from all of them. She's just a normal healthy person with brain injury and so the Seriously, yeah, and you can really see that it was killing her, like her liver and all of it. Just she wasn't functioning right. And the people that brought the awareness that I should give it to her were very organic hippies, you know, that just wanted the best for her, but they were pretty brutal about what I was doing to my child.
SpeakerAnd so it made me aware. And it is crazy to see her. She's so healthy. And like you guys were saying, laughing and music, she just got to go to her first widespread panic show I'm on weed. And those are her favorite, those are her dudes, you know? And so, that was absolutely incredible. Like, she was so happy that she had the whole place, you know, anybody that was actually seeing what was going on was crying.
SpeakerLike, it was epic.
ToddAnd, you know, and then I was telling people, I'm like, yeah. You should Facebook the band that.
SpeakerThe band would like to know that. The band would We're going to. We took a lot of pictures. We did. She was stoked. Yeah.
ToddThey would love that.
SpeakerThose guys would love that.
ToddIt's cool.
SpeakerIt's cool. Yeah.
BubblemanYeah. That is very awesome. That is very awesome.
Jen DoeThank you for letting us share her story. Yeah, she hasn't really come out and been so public with it because of all the controversy, you know, and She just wants her daughter to be happy, but it's time for people to step up and tell their stories so that more people can hear it, so more people can benefit from it. So, thank you for asking.
BubblemanWell, I can assure you of this, that you have about, in the next 24 to 36 hours, you're going to have 10,000 new people completely on your side. And, yeah, maybe you've inspired a whole bunch by just coming out and... Thank you so much for joining us today.
BubblemanDoing it in a responsible manner that has allowed her to, you know, live a better life.
SpeakerLive a better life. Thank you. It's been intense. Beyond words. But it's amazing. I mean, the proof is in the pudding. That's what I tell people. I mean, it's obvious. She's so happy. She's talking. She's just like a whole new person. Plus, we hardly ever go to the doctor anymore. Like, She doesn't have earaches. She's continent now. She goes to the bathroom on her own completely when before she wouldn't even go at all.
SpeakerLike she had to take pharmaceuticals to go do normal things. Like it was really bad. And so essentially now she really doesn't even take Tylenol. And I've found the right kind of help now where we've changed her diet completely to basically an all organic, healthy diet. Yeah, it's, we're pretty, we're doing it. And she is exactly an amazing example of what cannabis and just healthy lifestyle will do for you.
SpeakerIt's, it's really cool. And then such a traumatic story of Shagan baby syndrome and brain injury and all the fucked up shit. And then in Idaho, I was, I'm from Idaho and that all happened in Idaho. And so, and I just always stayed true to marijuana. And even then they would pick, they were pretty harsh in the court and, uh, All the shit we went through and I was like, I'm sorry, Judge, but it wasn't because I smoked weed that my kid was shaken.
SpeakerAnd I just always held true to that. But in time, I just needed to get away from Idaho and I did. And I haven't really, you know, I visited one time or maybe a couple times, but it was so intense that I just don't go back. I love my little... Eugene, Oregon Spot. But it's good now. I'm going to travel a little more and definitely tell her story because I'm definitely being embraced also for what I've done.
SpeakerAnd she's just really cool to watch. She's really beautiful and people are so inspired. So, I mean, I'm inspired by myself. And then people like Jen who puts herself out there, she's part of me putting myself out there. I'm like, okay, if she can do it, I can do it. But that's how it works sometimes, you know?
Jen DoeSometimes you just need that extra push of, well, that's a mom, and nobody's coming after her. I'm not hurting anything, you know? I abide by my state laws. I do.
Etienne FontanI'm pretty legit, for sure.
Jen DoeYes.
Etienne FontanBut you're also getting support. But you're also getting support.
SpeakerI am, and I need it. I need support. Exactly. It can be intimidating.
Etienne FontanAs a nation provider myself, as a nation provider myself, And as a, I'm a Gulf War veteran, so I was diagnosed with Gulf War syndrome, so I had a wasting syndrome that the doctors didn't know that I had, and I literally wasted down to about 95 pounds. So after myself healing from cannabis, it's why I've risked my freedom the last 15 years with Berkeley Patients Group. In fact, We're the only ones to be shut down by the government to successfully move and reopen.
Etienne FontanAnd I'm suing the federal government right now so that my patients can continue to have access. I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees and subject these people to having to go back on the street. So it takes strong people like you that inspire people like me every day. So thank you. Stay strong. And know that people care. And if there's anything that we can do, please let us know.
Etienne FontanMuch love, much respect. Much respect.
Jen DoeThanks. Yeah, if anybody specializes in this sort of thing that can give her any tips or any, you know, just a little more exact on things, because she is, she's just a single mom trying to heal her baby, you know, and it's hard. So, she's doing her best and she's doing amazing. Totally. Thanks.
BubblemanAwesome vibes in Hash Church today. Good vibes in Hash Church. Thanks for coming and sharing your story. Really, really inspiring. This is why we do what we do.
SpeakerI just wanted to say I appreciated that and Many years ago, I tried to inspire patients to come forward and do their own patient stories because I think once cannabis makes you, yourself, as a patient or as a parent, a believer, it's hard not to want to express that. You also have to be very careful with insurance and different companies and organizations and states. My hat's off to you for taking the courage to Thank you so much for joining us.
SpeakerYeah, and then you hear all the new laws and I'm in Oregon so we have recreational coming up and I went to a business conference recently and just trying to figure out and make, I want to make medicine available to everybody also, the young and the old and all the people that are coming to me for inspiration and it's super overwhelming and then to know how hard it might be or it's just complicated so I get overwhelmed.
SpeakerBut I love to put the story out there. Really, it's about my daughter. I mean, she is so beautiful and awesome. And she's just, it's inspiring. She's doing good, for sure.
Jen DoeI'm going to take a trip down to Eugene with my camera, and I think we're going to get the whole story put together for her, and then we'll post it. I'll definitely post it on my YouTube, and we'll just get the link available. But it would be really cool.
ToddI'm involved in our movement here in Pennsylvania and the gasoline in the engine in the movement here in Pennsylvania are moms just like yourself who have kids that suffer all kinds of different illnesses that could certainly be I just if we had medical cannabis in our state. So you are not alone. There's a lot of people who are just like you. And that might just comfort you to know that your burden is carried by many people.
ToddAnd again, is fueling the energy that's behind the movement here in Pennsylvania. We call them the mama bears. And these moms are very, very strong individuals who have to deal with I think that that's the new face of cannabis right now, Mark.
BubblemanI'm often asked by people in the UK in particular, and I would urge moms like these moms to You know, realize that, you know, in the U.S. there is, the momentum's picking up. It's important to re-inspire people like from Utah and Idaho where you guys are from. But at the same time, there are moms in the U.K. that don't have the support system. They still haven't put the face of a small child who requires cannabis as a medicine as the face of medical cannabis.
BubblemanAnd so it's slow going in the U.K. and One of the things I always like to do on Hash Church is sort of point people in a direction if they're looking to do some help.
ToddWell, you break down those barriers, Mark. I mean, this program, the fact that we're talking about it and it's on the Internet and saved in perpetuity, I mean, people will reference this to know that there are, you know, these issues and why do we let the miles come in between the fact that people all over the world are in the same situation? Exactly, regardless of what country.
ToddSo thumbs up to the internet.
SpeakerThumbs up to the internet. Oh yeah.
Jen DoeSo you get in touch with Anna. What is your email?
SpeakerMy email is kind of long, but it's better than everything tie-dye. And Jen can type it out. But I really started out as a tie-dye mom. I've been making tie-dye for 16 years and then
SpeakerI have a Facebook too, Anna Can, and actually my nickname for a while has been Anna Cannabis, which is kind of funny how it's all been working out. But yeah, that's how you can find me, and you can see pictures of Savannah. That's one. What?
ToddTwo N's in one. Two N's in one.
SpeakerYeah, C-A-N-N actually, Anna Can. Yep.
Jen DoeAnd then... A-N-N-A.
SpeakerYep.
Jen DoeA-N-N-A.
SpeakerYep. And what's the email address? And what's the email address? It's better than everything tie-dye. T-I-E-D-Y-E at yahoo.com. At yahoo.com. At yahoo.com. Perfect.
Jen DoeIt's really cold out here, so I can't tie. My fingers are like... It's deceivingly beautiful. Right. It's actually really cool.
BubblemanI'll make sure I put your information in the comments of the video so that people will be able to find it right there and they won't have to try and figure out the spelling. Sweet.
Jen DoeThank you. Thank you very much.
BubblemanGood old hashtag. Good old hashtag. Dabs.
Jen DoeDabs. I haven't had a dab since we got on Hash Church, but we've been getting high as shit with you guys just watching.
Mark ScaldoniWant to all get a dab? Want to all get a dab? Catching on.
SpeakerSo, a couple of weeks ago,
SpeakerA girl hit me up through Instagram, right? And she shared a picture with me. And I had met this chick at High Times LA. And she used to be a heavy BHO smoker, right? But she started having like, I don't know, issues where she had to go to the doctor or whatever. And they took some x-rays of her lungs. And she had like nodules or whatever, high levels or something else.
SpeakerIt's hard for me to pronounce. So her doctor was like, hey, BHO. She started smoking nothing but flowers. Oh, and this is the picture. She started smoking nothing but flowers, right? The top is the BHO. After three months of smoking flowers, her lungs got, you know, noticeably better. But she wanted to dab, so she started dabbing Full Melt and smoking flowers. And the picture on the bottom is like her new pic or x-rays of her lungs a year later.
SpeakerSo that's BHO. That's the Full Melt. That's crazy, right? So I was trying to get info on it on the chat. You know what? Let's see what your guys' opinion is.
BubblemanThat's not that crazy to me. I think that it's crazy that people are going to be surprised when they realize, A, you mean something else is in the solvent that's potentially a contaminant and that's oil-soluble and locks into the... Okay, that's, of course, obvious. And then, B, you mean a petrochemical company could possibly do us harm? Who the fuck ever thought that that was safe?
SpeakerYeah, that's another reason why solvent-free.
BubblemanHoly Moses, man, I'm telling you. I don't know. I'm just not overly surprised when people are like, oh, did you hear that, like, that butane stuff ended up being bad? It's like, well, yeah, it kills life on contact. Like, the alternative is, like, using water, which stains life, all life on Earth.
BubblemanI'm going to go with the sustainer on this one.
SpeakerOh, yeah, man. So that's at least to share with the peeps in the chat. She's on Instagram and posting pictures for awareness, not trying to hate on the oil crowd.
BubblemanDo you want to post her name so people can go look?
SpeakerShe goes by Cannabis Ari on Instagram. I'll type it up on the chat.
BubblemanSure. Then maybe spell it out too for the listeners.
SpeakerYeah, hold on. Somebody's trying to call me on my phone.
BubblemanAll right. Laps? Dude, with an umbrella? Oh, my God. My buddy's going snowboarding right now, and he's taking his umbrella.
SpeakerSo cannabis and then A-R-I. You guys check it out. Yeah, it's like a couple pictures down. You'll see the post. I don't know. It's pretty crazy. Another reason why I don't smoke too much BHO, although sometimes I'm guilty of it. But that's scary.
BubblemanThat's freaky for sure.
SpeakerYeah, bro. If you're going to smoke oil, smoke oil made by somebody that knows what they're doing. Not open blasting in cans and crazy stuff like that.
BubblemanI think it's probably a good idea to leave it to the professionals.
SpeakerYeah, bro. God knows what that girl was smoking. Must have been some gnarly stuff, bro.
BubblemanBronson, bro. Bronson.
SpeakerYeah, the Bronson. The Bronson oil. Yeah, that's the worst, bro.
BubblemanIt's like 50% mystery oil.
SpeakerYeah, the terpy mix.
BubblemanJeeps. It's jelly clear, never cakes, tastes like the plant, the plant, pure oil. Ah, the plant, Tony, the plant. You're not muted again, are you, Tony?
SpeakerNo, I guess I'm not.
BubblemanOkay, I thought you looked like it had been done again. I looked over, I was like, come on.
SpeakerNo, we've been talking in the background in this little chat.
BubblemanYeah.
BubblemanWell, powerful story, powerful story from the ladies.
SpeakerOh, and she was kind of, I guess she was hyping up rosin. Like, if you're going to smoke oil, make rosin as opposed to the BHO. And she posted the pictures. That's what I, that was the post. Word. I can't wait to try that rosin that Tony has, the clear stuff.
Bubbleman420, he said, we'll smoke it all.
SpeakerWell, I had Dan and Jibs try it, and like usually they, you know, like when we were in Amsterdam, the smell was so overpowering. You know, the turp melt? Yeah. And so now it's like this perfect blend, and the turps have like gone from like the lemon to more of the G13 over the, it's been a six-month period.
BubblemanYou were using 3,000 times too much in Amsterdam. Sure. Like, you actually stopped a few people from breathing in. Like, I remember they were taking hits, and you'd just be like, Ninja Terp, boom, and the people would be like, I got one. I got one of those where I was literally like, okay, I think that might be too much. I think that might be like, I think we just dabbed a solvent.
BubblemanI'm pretty sure that was fucked up. That probably wasn't safe. Tony Verzura.
SpeakerI think there was a lot of those going around at the Legends Dinner.
BubblemanJust straight stopping hearts.
SpeakerYeah. You know, that's also, you know, like, why I didn't want to release them, because it's like, hold on, man, this is pure plant terpenes, so it's like, I don't know what the effects are, but I can tell you that it's found a really nice home in this particular technique because it allows you to, it just makes a really, really, really, really nice kind of like a clear jelly, but snap and pull, clear resin consistency that tastes pretty much like, just like the plant, you know, it's like, and it melts to straight oil and it's really smooth.
SpeakerYou don't feel it on the back of your throat at all. So, we'll try it. So there's no reason why rosin shouldn't fill up the table at the Legends dinner this year, you think? I mean, it's something new. We'll have to see. Like, I think so. I'm definitely going to be entering that this year. It's going to be funny when you do the entries and you show them the rosin for solvent-free entry at high times.
SpeakerYeah. It's not BHO, bro, it's rosin, you know? Just trust me. Oh, let me tell you, it's going to mess things up. You're going to have to make sure you've got everything labeled.
SpeakerI predicted to the guys at the Cannabinoid Masters Tournament that non-solvent is going to be tested as high, if not higher. In the rosin category. If you take that, I gave them a piece of the rosin. I don't think they tested it, but just in case they had access to give it a test to see what that brought the barbs in that we made in Barcelona would come out at.
SpeakerI'm super interested to see what it comes out at. I tested some rosin this week. And it tested at 84% through Steve Hill.
BubblemanKiller. Killer. Welcome, Josh. You guys know Josh. Bizarre Brothers, hash maker down in California, making a little more hash than most, a little bit less than some. Good guy. Welcome into the room. Thank you. You a space? Yeah.
SpeakerThat was funny, bro.
BubblemanNah, he's something else. Ah. Well, welcome, dude. Welcome.
SpeakerThank you. Hey, have you guys had the rosin whiting out question posed? I don't know. I missed it. Yes. I brought it up, player. Are you getting rosin whiting out? Because I have it. It happens to me if I make it with dry sieve. Sometimes I'll get a patty that's not completely clear to my liking. You know, like it doesn't look like some Mac Daddy shatter. So I'll have to re-filter it through the filter over and over and over.
SpeakerAnd I seem to catch something that I call them waxes. I'm going to say they're waxes. I don't know. But yes, it does happen. I just think that we need a better, tighter filter.
SpeakerAnd it's in the works. On the right, you think you need a smaller hold screen? Yeah, kind of like the, you know how the oil makers, they use very tight screens when they do single solvent de-waxing to catch a lot of the lipids and everything? Their micron is a lot smaller than 25. Oh, like .05. Yeah, it's like, it's something really small. So, Bubble Man's coming out with the 5 micron.
SpeakerThat should help out a lot. But I think the tighter that we can get it, the better. Maybe to like initially squeeze the oil, you can use one size and then to refine it, you can take it to another screen. To do like a second filtration and a third filtration. But I think once you eliminate the majority of those lipids and stuff, the oil will stay at a more stable state.
SpeakerBut yeah, whiting out was happening to me. It was killing me.
BubblemanHey, there's a term that someone just said in the chat, Matt, that you may appreciate. I think it's not Barcelona that you love so much. I think it's Barb-salona that you really love. Barb Salona. Yeah, well, when you roll with as much Barb as you do, it's a different trip.
SpeakerBarb Salona. I don't know. I guess I don't know the trip without Barb.
BubblemanExactly, that's what I'm saying. This guy nailed it, dude. Barb Salona. I'm just Barb's sidekick.
BubblemanWhat's puffin', Josh? Other than some sick Marcel air trap pipe.
SpeakerWhat's your shelf life? What's it? Five, seven days?
SpeakerIf it's unpressed, it seems to last for a pretty long time here. The rosin? Oh, okay. It depends, bro. So check this out. When I make it with water hash, it stays pretty stable. It doesn't really wax out. I made some about ten days ago and It still looks great, but with the dry sift, man, it's where I'm seeing the issues. In about three to four days, it starts to get crazy.
SpeakerAnd I actually stuck it in the vacuum oven, and hold on, yeah, turn that down a little bit. I had it in the vacuum oven to experiment, right, and I started treating it like some BHO. I put it at like 110 and full vac, and it was doing like a bubble reaction, you know, like if it was purging something out, and then eventually began to wax out, and it made I smoked a lot of it, but it started getting hard and buttery, like bad oil.
SpeakerYou know what I mean? But it tasted great. I don't know. It's very weird, man. Have you just let it sort of sit on the table? Washed hash, when it's pressed on that oil slick, I don't have a problem at ever whiting out. But like you said, the dry sift, there's something strange there that's causing that. Yeah, and I've had already three people since the show when I brought it up hit me up and told me that they're having the same problem with SIFT.
SpeakerI don't know why. Well, I can tell you just from all the competitions and stuff that when we put the BARB-99 in, that dry SIFT, every time that it got into the hands of whoever was smoking it, it was always whited out. So I noticed this year because we brought both the Barb 73 water hash and the Barb 90 water hash that the Barb 73 lasted as a nice gummy chunk pretty much for the whole show.
SpeakerWhereas the Barb 90, it whited out rather quickly. That was a pretty good eye-opener for me as to just the different sizes react differently once pressed out and exposed to the air. One of the things that I have done to be able to get a little bit more of a shelf life on my dry sieve is that when I jar it out and I gram it out in my lab, right, it's like 60 degrees with a dry ease running, very low humidity.
SpeakerI jar each gram individually and then I use these 33 by 100 seals. And it's from a website called The Carry Company. And the seal goes in between the jar and the lid. And each gram is individually like, I want to say, it contains the same environment as the lab. You know what I mean? I think the problem with dry safe is once the jar is opened or is improperly sealed and the humidity can get in from the outside, from outside the lab, That it begins to pick up moisture and go through changes.
Etienne FontanYeah. The oxygenization just starts to get at it. Any trapped oxygen in there, if anything, if you could do a little puff of nitrogen like they do with coffee, that's what you'd want to do so that there's no trapped oxygen because that will start to eat it regardless.
SpeakerYeah, but I've had dry sift that has been on the shelf, let's say a gram or two or three or whatever for 10 days plus. And it still presses out great. But these are grams that are kept in wine coolers at a dispensary or a collective or however you guys refer to it out there. But yeah, if you gram out your hash, try out those seals, man.
SpeakerNitrogen for sure would be dope. Yeah. Works out.
SpeakerI just had another question and I just forgot it.
SpeakerWrite shit down, bro. I was just about to say it, and then Sarah caught my attention and it was gone. It'll come back. It's a cyclical thing.
SpeakerOh, man. It was a good question, too. It's like a boomerang, man. It's coming. Yeah. Like I said, if you put that in, if you also put your stuff in parchment or oil slick and in a Ziploc bag and put it in your refrigerator, you never have a problem with it right now. Totally. Totally. You know, this is just people that are, you know, you get lazy, you throw it on the counter, you go to bed, you smoke off of it, you don't put it away for the next day, then you're like, man, that's really good, I just want to keep smoking off of it, and by like the third day, you're like, hey, it's kind of wadding off, you might as well smoke the rest of it.
SpeakerYou know, that's like where that's coming from. The people, when you're out there listening, it's not like the barbers, Hey, you know what's crazy? That you can have material sitting out for like, let's say, two months cured and a month dried, like, you know, aged pretty nicely and
SpeakerYou could dry sift it. It'll be great as soon as you dry sift it, but if you leave the jar alone like a big collection of heads, let's say you just open and smoke it, by the time you're at the end, that shit's oxidized, bro. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ramon had the Nicole 99, and I saw it on the first day that he made it, and it was sandy a little bit.
SpeakerAnd every time I saw him, I always asked him if he had the jar on him. And every time he showed me, even the second time he showed me, it was no longer sipped. You could turn it upside down and it was all stuck. And then I think by the second or third day, you could sort of see the apple crumble sort of texture. And it sort of started pressing.
SpeakerBut I totally agree with you. Actually... Maybe we'll get Mark over because I have a seed crop that I just let. It's a barb seed crop too. I left it hanging for probably five weeks and it probably got bone dry. And then it's been sitting in bins probably for another five weeks. So it's like two months, three months. It'll probably be about three months old by the time I get to dry sifting it.
SpeakerAnd you're absolutely right. By the time I collect the dry sift, if I left it out, it would start that process.
SpeakerPut it in the fridge. It'll stay sandy forever. Pull it out and press it, and the process begins, right?
BubblemanI'm down for 100%. Let's get you over a million views. Yeah, for sure.
SpeakerA million. Well, and then, Double Man, when we were in Amsterdam, your dry sip was left out, jar lid open for eight days. It never changed. Ten days. Ten days.
SpeakerSome strains, though, some resins are more resilient. They resist the conditions better than others. I can imagine the Barb is one greasy one. He has the really thin trichome walls. I can imagine it melts to nothing. I've seen it on that Sapphire insert when Mark made that dry sift. It was beautiful, bro. That type of resin, it gets attacked by the humidity and everything else when it's concentrated together.
SpeakerYeah, strength, yeah, I totally agree with you on the strength specific. They all act differently. Yeah. Hazes, they survive forever, in my opinion. Yeah. Yeah, they have a nice shelf life, man.
BubblemanYeah, they do. They're not quite as greasy, and the membrane is just, it's probably something to do with a more land-raised wax membrane as opposed to a hybridized indoor grow membrane. Wax Membrane. And it's interesting that you would say that because it was the sweet skunk in Amsterdam that preserved. Yeah. Paisy taste and smell on that.
SpeakerYeah, it's that sandy resin. That sandy resin that it could be like stuck in a puck but you could still shave it back down to dust and it would look beautiful. Yeah, that stuff lasts forever.
BubblemanLovely.
SpeakerI tried dry sifting some Gorilla Glue and that was, man, I was the reducer for the day. I kept seeing little particulates and I wanted to clean it up and clean it up and my yield would go down and down or it would get greasy and just stick together. It was tough. I'm never going to dry sift Gorilla Glue again in my life. Never say never. Hell no.
SpeakerBro, somebody told me that they got a 20% yield washing this, and the yield I got was like a 5% at most. Yeah. It was some shit. That's also coming off a flower that's testing 29 or 30%. That helps. Yeah.
BubblemanHuge factor. Huge factor. I mean, a great way to show that is taking a bud off that plant and then taking off a plant, you know, grown by just your average grower who's maybe getting 14% to 18% THC out of it, and then doing the rosin tech where you just squeeze the bud in the paper. And it happened at the booth in Spain where people were like, why did he get so much?
BubblemanAnd I'm just like, yeah, right, exactly. When you can answer those questions, maybe your bud will be better.
SpeakerYeah. Oh, man. 64% already.
BubblemanIt's like, why did he get four big dabs and I only got like a half a small dab? It's like, well, because you, my friend, grow shitty resin. I'm sorry.
SpeakerYeah. Funny that you say that, bro. Somebody gifted me about like an ounce of some Blue Dream, and we were calling it the sugar-free, right? Because you just wouldn't really get high on this stuff. You'd smoke a whole blunt, and you're just not getting high, right? So when I got the shirt pressed, I put a bunch of that shit in the parchment and did the pool. And bro, I must have gotten like two dabs, bro.
SpeakerNo wonder I wasn't getting high. Out of all that weed, I would have gotten two dabs. That shit was not rich in resin. That's the all show and no go. Yeah, bro. Oh, man. It sure smelled good too, but yeah, no. Yo, I rolled like a 14 gram joint and smoked it to the face and I think I felt something. Thank you for watching.
SpeakerSo do you think that the percentage of THC of hash has anything to do with the whiting out effect? Is that once you get to a specific level of THC purity, that that whiting out effect has a sort of chain reaction, so to say? Lower grade hashes don't seem to do that.
BubblemanTodd said it on the chat. Honey does the same thing, though, you know, when you have that nice, clear, liquidy honey and it just crystallizes and butters out?
ToddYeah, so that's just THC acid crystallizing out, and it's going to crystallize out, determine on how much is in there and how concentrated it is, and how resistant it is to crystallization This is a determination of basically what are the other molecules that are in there and so I think again we could reference to Jen's thread on crystallization. Think of the refinement of sugar. So table sugar is a white crystalline solid, right?
ToddBrown sugar is less refined so it has a lot more of the molasses component We've got a lot of different types of sugar in it. Yes, very crude sugar is like molasses, so it's kind of like a syrupy, gooey oil. Yes, crystallization will happen if there's enough material in there and it starts finding each other to be able to form crystalline lattice structure, if that's the whiting out phenomenon.
ToddThe whiting out phenomenon I think that we were referring to before had to do with oiling out or an emulsion. Thank you for joining us today.
ToddAnd a lot of these compounds, again, will have some interaction with water in the plant that will just be completely different once you have it isolated from the plant material. The other point I want to make is there is very, very little cellulose in the end of the trichome itself is mostly a waxy component that's a lipid bilayer. Cellulose, think of as like the fiber Dr. There's a portion of the plant which is high molecular weight glucose polymer called cellulose.
ToddThere are smaller molecular weight polymers called hemicelluloses all throughout the plant and that are part of the cell wall. Predominantly, what you're getting at the end of the trichome is mostly waxy lipids and very, very little cellulosic content unless you're grabbing a portion of the leaf itself.
BubblemanSo then really the bottom line is this. What we really want to know in this process is how is it changing? What are we losing? What are we gaining? What are the effects that are different? Those are the real questions.
SpeakerI wonder if terpenes are the ones causing it to cake.
ToddIt's so related to so many things that have to do with basically the incompatibility of a fat-soluble molecule in water. And so again, that's going to become cloudy because it's going to have to exist as emulsion because it can't coexist in a single phase like as a shatter that's completely opaque that you can see through. So the reason why you're not going to be able to see through it is because these things are creating nucleation sites for crystallization of the THC-A molecule.
ToddAnd that's what the phenomenon of crystallization is.
SpeakerSo what do you feel about, remember I gave an example a few moons ago on Hash Church about what they do with echinacea. We're in your last three flushes, and instead of that last flush on the last day you're supposed to do it, you don't give them any water. You shock the tritones and then give them water. In the process of flushing, in the process of how you go about getting the water out as well, the temperature, if you're going to do fresh frozen, if you go to negative 50 or below, you actually start to damage those walls.
SpeakerThere's a lot of those micro-parameters, I agree with what you're saying, that change that last end result as well, the cloudiness or not.
ToddDr. Yeah, I mean there's certainly carbohydrates and proteins in the plant that are responsible, like say the enzymes that are responsible for cannabinoid biosynthesis that exist In the trichome itself, I mean these are definitely molecules that are there. There's all kinds of molecular machinery that's making all kinds of chemistry happen throughout the plant that again when you insult it by either taking a solvent or either mechanically separating the trichome from the plant material itself, you're going to get a mixture of all different kinds of compounds.
ToddDepending on exactly how the process of isolation occurs.
SpeakerAnd everybody else is just silent.
BubblemanI just saw someone writing negative shit in the chat, so now I've got to find him and delete him. And the chat moves so fast that it's not that easy.
SpeakerThe banhammer. You think that there's like an equilibrium, sort of, that there's a point in which you can clean hash too much?
ToddYeah, absolutely. I mean, all these processes of chemical equilibriums, either between the air and the hash, or between any solvent or water and the hash, yes, it's all an equilibrium process. And it's interesting to hear, like when Cuban Grower was talking about, again, the Mostly what I'm hearing here is that you can take any of these types of isolates and make them crystallize out under a variety of different conditions.
ToddThe real question is, is what's happening and does that compromise in terms of potency or flavor? And I'm not hearing that it's, is this really a bad thing, crystallization?
SpeakerYeah, I met a couple guys in Spain that they came up to me and they asked me how I can induce their hash to be like that all the time. Because for them they always smoke their joints with a little bit of tobacco in their joints and they wanted it whited out so they could easily crumble it into their joint.
ToddRight.
SpeakerYeah, now I think it goes to two things. One is the mindset that we've learned to think That caked hash means some sort of degradation, you know what I mean? Maybe, and it could be because, you know, if there's moisture in the hash, it can induce it.
BubblemanAbsolutely, which I think we saw a lot of from 99 to 2010. 90% of the time when you saw caked hash, it was from wet, it was wet bubble hash.
SpeakerYeah. Right. But when you got Dry Sift doing it, then people hit me up like, why does Dry Sift oxidize if it's dry? Well, that's a great question, bro, you know? And I think it could be terpenes, in my opinion. Maybe it's the concentration or the purity of the heads that we're putting together in a jar.
ToddIt's not necessarily oxidizing, is it? I mean, do you know, are you losing THC to CBN?
SpeakerI don't know, but it would be great to keep a test chart, have it lab tested and then try to go through like a month process and then retest it at that point from the same batch to see what real changes are going down in that hash. I use the term oxidation loosely because I don't know what the proper term is for what the hash is going through.
ToddYeah, I think rather than oxidation, it's probably just interacting with ambient moisture in the air, and that ambient moisture is making it change its sort of physical form. The beautiful thing about that is you can test that by just pulling vacuum on that material and seeing if that process is reversible. So if it's absorbing water from the air, theoretically, that's a reversible process unless it's doing chemistry.
ToddYou might be able to take it back to its original form by just pulling vacuum on it.
SpeakerHey Mark, what about those containers I gave you? Like I tried to give you a half moon of terps all dripped on one side and just straight sift on the other. Like do you ever get to see the decay rate of which, like I know the terps won't cake out, but does it maintain or does the whole thing cake out at the same rate?
BubblemanNo, the whole thing caked out pretty much at the same rate. I was unable to see it for several weeks, so it got left for maybe three weeks in the container, and when I came home, it was caked. It still had a color differentiation, like the sift was, where you dab the terpenes, it was much darker in the middle, like quite a bit darker than the lighter sift around, but the sift was no longer like particulate, it was a solid.
BubblemanSo this gave me a little, like a half gram or a gram inside a dish, and then he dripped a turp right in the middle that absorbed into the hash. And then it cured like that for, I mean, I don't know how long you had done it before you gave it to me. Did you do it fresh that day?
SpeakerI usually do it fresh, seal it, and then, yeah, before we go. Or I'll put it straight in the freezer. Like, that's the two types of trials I've done. Leaving it in the freezer for a week. And that caked out pretty quick. But I always like to see if the half moon changed over time and see if it actually transfers or changes to colors.
BubblemanI still have it.
SpeakerWell, I guess this is what kind of shape it takes. I have a question. So check this out. If I have the same resin, right, and let's say I dry sift one and I make water hash out of the other, right? Now, if it's a greasy strain, this strain in particular, when I sieve it and it's dried and stuff and it's out at like room temp, it'll begin to grease out and turn like into like a darker grease because I grew it 12 weeks and stuff.
SpeakerThe resin's a little darker. But still pressable, beautiful, dabable, right? Now the sift stays looking really dry sifty. You know what I mean? Like the color of keef and if I go at it and try to like shave it through the sides to dab, eventually the inner part will grease that same color as the water hash, but the top layer remains the color of dry sift, almost like if the trichome heads are intact.
SpeakerYou know what I mean? But in the water hash, the whole hash goes through this effect. From top to bottom, you'll notice it'll begin to change colors and completely become greasy. Why does the dry sieved, although it has the same color grease in it, it's capable of greasing? Why does it go through different changes than sieved water hash? What happens to the resin in the washing process that allows it to do that?
SpeakerYou guys know? Nobody? I don't either, but that's what I've realized, man. I have a sort of question. And the question is, because we all deal with relatively small sizes of hash, and I had this thought in Barcelona. We were in a restaurant. We ordered some Jamon cheese bread. And then the cheese came because the cheese slice comes off of the roll. So if I had a chunk of hash large enough, like a wheel of hash, like a wheel of cheese, do you think that the oxidization or whatever the term is will halt at a certain depth within that cheese, therefore making the hash in the center of it?
SpeakerAble to cure or whatever, whatever it would do. Mark?
ToddYeah, it should. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. I mean, if it's exposed to the air, it's definitely going to have a higher propensity to absorb water and change as opposed to the stuff in the middle of the ball, absolutely.
Etienne FontanThe outside is going to oxidize, whereas the inside should stay a nice color if it's good hash. If it's actually the same color on the outside all the way through, we all know that's an issue.
SpeakerThe Great Gardener Farms now has a new goal, and it's to make a wheel of hash. That's dope. I want to figure out what the depthness of that would be. What's the depth?
ToddYou have to patent that. Patent the wheel.
SpeakerJust to say you did it. I can just see Sam's face when I plop the wheel down on the Legends table. Slice out a piece.
SpeakerYou know, have like special tools to like punch into it to sort of analyze what's going on in the middle. You wheel them around the barn. That's how Martin Bereskis is asking some giant ass bricks, man. Yeah, well, for sure. Hands on one of those bricks to break it open to see what, you know, what the center would be like. But usually when you see those bricks, they're, you know, they're not the highest quality.
SpeakerI mean, I want to take like, I want to take like, I don't know what it would be. I'd have to start with like a half a kilo or a kilo of like barb 99, press it into a brick, I don't know, wrap it in cellophane, store it in a cool dark place for 15 years. I guess we'll start working on that. Maybe it'll take five kilos.
SpeakerGiant ones.
BubblemanLet's do it with ten. Let's call it ten. It's a good even number. Ten years? No, ten kilos, man. Come on.
SpeakerTen kilos. Ten kilos. Yeah, yeah. Press it into something. I think once you press it, though. It'll just be a matter of time before the center of it will be the same as the outside. It's all the same thing, right? At that point, once you press it all together and rupture all the residues. Yeah, my experience is like as soon as you rupture the head, the decomposition starts then.
Etienne FontanLike if you leave it in a powderized, cured state, it can potentially last forever. But like, depending on the hatch, some of it never does. Some of it never fucking wipes out.
SpeakerYeah. Yo, so check this out. I got a picture of kind of what I mean. This was taken by somebody in L.A. It's a bunch of water hash, right? It's all been greased out, you know, nothing caked. And then the dry sift looks blonde. If I would have washed that same strain, it would have been greased out just like the rest of that water hash. Why doesn't the dry sift go through that change?
SpeakerWhy doesn't it like, why does it react differently? You know what I mean?
ToddYeah, because it's protected by the fats and the waxes that have coagulated in the mechanical removal of the trichome from the plant in the drive-sift process. They're like little capsules that encapsulate the materials and the goodies that are in there. They haven't been busted. They've just been taken away from the plant.
SpeakerYou think once you start breaking those that it's a chain reaction?
ToddMan, I would think that, again, when you're physically removing them, mechanically removing them from the plant, they have been separated now from their life system that essentially was keeping them alive. Ultimately, they're going to dehydrate. They're going to lose their contents because they're just going to shrivel into nothing. Right, they're going to dehydrate. They need water and they need a living system in order to stay functional.
ToddSo these things essentially can coagulate because they're waxy solids that will find each other and then ultimately create little masses that essentially can crystallize, yes, or create nucleation points for THC which can now start to crystallize. It's not oxidizing, it's just crystallizing.
SpeakerYou're just increasing the heat. Once you increase the heat, it's, you know, it seems to be a big factor in that, right? Increase the heat and those white walls just become liquefied and... Oh, are we talking about dry... I thought we were talking about dry... Was that... Was that... That you took a picture of, was that... Was it fresh frozen? Was it... How did they take care of it with, you know... Well, I...
SpeakerI've done it with my own material. I have a sour strain that I really like because it yields high and it makes grease. From the 160 to the 73, it's just fantastic. But because I floured it so long, the grease is kind of dark, you know what I mean, once it starts going to the temperature. Now, when I dry sift that same exact material, dried and cured, the dry sift is very, very, very light.
SpeakerLike beautifully light. Press is the same color though. If you press both of them, they're identical and they taste the same. But visually, it's a pretty big difference. Now I have a, so you're, okay, if one of the heads busts in a dry sift and that oil from inside the head seeps out, can it attach itself to another trichome head and begin to deteriorate it and create like a constant
ToddYeah, exactly. So that stickiness essentially becomes the glue between other particles and it'll grow to make a bigger piece of hash, right?
SpeakerOh, that's what begins the process, huh?
Etienne FontanThe THCA molecule is always active and always static, so it's always looking for carbon to grab onto. So why wouldn't it be then a chain reaction if they're actually touching each other?
ToddBecause... Well, yeah, yeah. So let me rephrase that. So when you start the crystallization process, typically that requires what they call a nucleation point. And some of these interfaces... Between these dried trichome heads that are now stuck together, create those nucleation points for crystallization because you're absolutely right. Just like making rock candy, the THC molecules are going to start finding each other, making crystalline lattices of THC.
ToddRight. Absolutely.
SpeakerI want to urge you to just call those roofer guys and say, hey, it's still leaking.
SpeakerThat's cool. So I guess then a well-preserved and taken care of dry sift, as long as none of the heads busk and eventually pretty much last forever, it's controlled in the right environment.
Etienne FontanWell, I was told by Rob and others that traditional Hashishans up in the Afghan mountains, they used to sieve and then they would bury it about three feet down into the ground. And they would let that sit anywhere from a year to two years, then they would take that out, and then they would actually press it. So yes, they weren't pressing it first, they were leaving it loose, burying it so about three feet in the earth, it maintains around 56 Fahrenheit approximately, so it keeps at a consistent temperature that deep down so the water doesn't penetrate because of where they bury it.
Etienne FontanAnd so that's the old black gooey hash that we heard about but we never saw because that was in the sticks.
ToddThere's oxidation happening there at the end. There's oxidation. There's probably microbial stuff happening that we don't fully appreciate.
Etienne FontanWe don't have access to that material to even test to know too. Right, right.
ToddBut it would be really cool to know exactly what's going on down there because Like the oils and dinosaurs, I mean, when stuff gets buried, there's interesting chemistry that happens, exactly.
Etienne FontanWell, you've got different chemistry changes. Again, as I say, if the THCs are static, they're always looking for any carbon to bind to. So what carbon is in that hash? I mean, was it sifted? Was it hand-rolled? Could it be the hand oil? There's so many different aspects, depending on where in the world it was produced.
BubblemanYes, and the most important question, of course, is did he wash after wiping?
BubblemanFor all of those... India. Because you know they're not making that hash just with their right hand.
BubblemanI know, I had to go there. Everyone's looking down with a bad look on their face. I'm sorry, everyone.
Etienne FontanWe've actually tried, Todd and I were talking about how we tried the hand-rolled hash that somebody was so proud that came to Nepal, and after we had just dabbed some really amazing stuff, and we tried, and it literally tasted like skin. It just tasted so bad. Nothing we could do but say, this is Horrible. Whatever's in there, it's still in there, and it's definitely not pure ash.
BubblemanI guess he didn't purge the skin out. You gotta purge the skin. It's an ancient purge technique.
Etienne FontanDo you have skin purging screens?
SpeakerYou have to rosin the skin cells out, bro. Yeah, what size screen is perfect for skin?
BubblemanWell, it depends on what country you're in. I find the Nepali skin, which is a very small micron...
Etienne FontanThat's fun.
ToddI mean, in that way, you're smoking a piece of the hash maker every time you light up, right?
Etienne FontanPretty much. A taste of Nepal.
BubblemanDude, when your buddy says, hey, you want to hit this Nepali, he's not joking around.
Etienne FontanFiguratively. Hey, this shit's good.
BubblemanYeah, this shit tastes pretty good. Like, what is this? Oh, that's my bro, dude.
SpeakerWhat do you think of Clive Baxter's experiments, Mark?
ToddI don't know, do I know Clive Baxter's experience?
SpeakerClive Baxter is the character that hooked his plants up to the lie detector machine and then spent the next 30 years delving into plant reactions to stresses and finally came up with, he calls it the primary perception technique. Every cell emits, I guess, an electrical response on just the death, essentially, right? Death is coming and sort of happens at the cellular level and it sort of passes through.
SpeakerKind of like a forest fire where, you know, the animals know that the forest is on fire way before the fire ever gets to them type of thing.
SpeakerHe's got some pretty interesting results, like studies he's done and stuff like that with experiments. Now, I don't know how pseudoscience or what, but I heard once that the U.S. military have devices that they plug into trees to measure the sensitivity of the forest that can tell them If there's an ambush or not ahead of them.
ToddWell, I mean, so many biological processes like the process of our sight, the process by which we record memories, the process by which we actually, you know, our DNA replicates is actually based in electrical, fundamental electrical mechanisms. Even our nerves and the way that our muscles actuate I mean, this is all based on, yeah, I mean, electricity. So it would be really myopic to think that somehow applied electrical fields or magnetic fields don't somehow influence biological species, including plants and animals.
ToddAnd, you know, I remember hearing claims about people who lived near where there were high power lines, you know, high tension lines by their house, and they thought that there was A preponderance for people who lived around those high tension lines to have cancer versus people who didn't. You know, I don't know, I mean there's a lot of noise and data like that and it's difficult to make those correlations and you always have to remember that correlation doesn't necessarily mean causation and it's difficult sometimes in the world we live in to make sense of all those things but Yeah, I would imagine at some fundamental physical level, you can influence plant growth and animal growth with applied electrical and or magnetic fields.
ToddI mean, it would be weird to think exactly how you do that. Like, can you turn a switch on and all of a sudden make somebody taller or smaller? I mean, I don't exactly know how that would work. It would be great if somehow they could understand the basis of some neurological disorders that again are based in electrical impulses in our nerves, how we can use that kind of knowledge and understand how cannabinoids can attenuate some of those receptors and biological interactions that could mediate seizures, for example, or other disorders that have to do with Say, an over-stimulation of the central nervous system.
SpeakerI think that, I think that...
ToddDoes that answer your question?
SpeakerI think so, yes. I think, I think, I think there's always that one science sort of butts up against sort of mystery, right? And I think... I think just over time, science sort of slowly tackles all those sort of questions and gives them answers. I just don't think science has gotten deep enough to really answer those questions. Let's say for me, for anyway, in my sort of journey sort of through the cannabis world, For me, I was asked the question a lot of what's my intention in working with the cannabis plant.
SpeakerAnd one time, I was on an ayahuasca journey and the question was posed, what is your intention? And at the time, it was in the 90s, I was like a raver dude, you know. And for me, the cannabis plant meant my rent, meant my, meant, you know, meant money. And essentially, you know, those dollar signs were shown to me of, you know, you grow cannabis for the purpose to grow money so you can survive to just be a professional raver.
SpeakerSo it was really interesting, right? And then all of a sudden, and it was my personal pursuit of I want to be able to make this plant the best that I can. How can I do that? And then again, I was shown, and it was really interesting because I was shown the exchange of money and cannabis on, say, the ayahuasca plane where it was vibrant in energy.
SpeakerAnd the moment that those two exchanged hands of That's where the flash of light was shown that the peak in the energy and everything maximized at that exchange of money. And then it was like they showed me that I had to figure out how to get that energy light hit inside. They showed it to me inside the person. So then I pretty much spent the last 15 years growing with the intention to make somebody feel better because on that specific plane the cannabis lights up inside the person.
SpeakerSo someday I can't wait for science to catch up so we can explain why that happens. But for me I just wanted to get that story out there because I think people need to understand that on that plane There is a spark of light that occurs and you need to get it inside the body.
ToddLook, Matt, you're the musician. Cannabis is the music and you're bringing the music to the people. That's it. Very, very simple. It's a hose that just flows through you. It flows through you and it brings your energy and what you're doing is you're doing it Just like the musician, you have to know what's been done before you, and you have to be able to internalize this and put your own personal self-expression on your medicine.
ToddAnd just like music, rarely do you do something new, but you can put something together in your own way that only you can do. And it's a matter of self-expression. It's music and the plan are, yeah, it's the same thing.
BubblemanIt's a beautiful thing.
ToddYeah. Leave it to Deadhead to make that connection.
BubblemanPeople want you to show hash. I've just been reading in the chat. There was all sorts of beautiful things that people said about your little story there. They were very inspired by it. I'll try to read it, but of course, any time I go to try to read anything in this chat, it goes so fast. People are like...
SpeakerI'll be right back. Let me go see what I got in the freezer.
BubblemanAlright, I was going to read some nice things that people were saying to you. We are all crying, someone said. Amen, Matt. Thank you so much, Matt. Love you, brother.
BubblemanHe's everything. Well, I'm going to take a bong rip on that note. 9, 10, 11, 12, 1. Wow, we've been at it for four hours? Holy shit. Four hour hash church. I don't think I've gotten up in four hours. No wonder my ass hurts a little bit. Should be doing some hash church stretching here. All right, Mark, play us a bong rip, man. Come on.
BubblemanJust a bong rip.
BubblemanYou got Jerry's guitar there?
ToddIt's a fake, Erwin. It's not the real deal.
BubblemanI know, but could you imagine? Yeah, I got Jerry's guitar.
ToddIt cost me like three mil, but... Now, Pinsky might have Jerry's guitar, not me, though. Jesus.
BubblemanThose are not cheap. Those are not cheap, especially when you have his whole family fighting to death over them.
Etienne FontanI know. How many years have they been arguing over those?
BubblemanSince he died.
Etienne FontanPretty much.
ToddWell, actually, doesn't the owner of the Baltimore Colts actually own one of Jerry's guitars? I think all the other ones, the Wolf, I think the family owns because that goes out on tour when Warren Haynes plays with the orchestra. But the other ones are all in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I do believe.
BubblemanWell, I appreciate what Eric Clapton does every year with his, he raises all sorts of different money for, I guess, alcohol and drug abuse, and he gets famous guitarists to donate guitars and they auction them off. He's raised mazillions of dollars selling those guitars. Some 99 dry sift.
BubblemanAll right, Etienne and Mark are going to jam us home here.
BubblemanGet it on camera, Matt. Come on, get it on camera.
SpeakerI got it all over my computer is what I just did.
BubblemanRight on, dude. You are fucking hilarious, bro. I got it all over my computer is what I just did. I always suggest bending the computer screen down. A powdery bubble does not work very well.
SpeakerOkay.
SpeakerMy girlfriend's upset with me. I have covered her computer with 99 Jack Herrera.
BubblemanOh, and she wanted it covered in Barb?
SpeakerYeah. Here's some Afghani. That's not falling out. This is water hush.
BubblemanThat Afghani is so rank.
BubblemanI'm not going to lie. I'm a fan.
SpeakerWhat do I got? Cannatonic 99. A couple of those. Watermelon? I think you gave me this watermelon.
BubblemanWhich one?
SpeakerWhoa. Look at it. It's full. Look at it. It's full.
SpeakerDamn. You should puff that, dude. I'm going to puff some watermelon.
BubblemanThe fridge of plenty. Holy schnips. That looks pretty good.
SpeakerLet's do it. Let's do it, she says. Let's do it. What do we got here? We got some can of tonic. Now, this is a 45.
BubblemanLooks like she's greased up nicely.
SpeakerOh, yeah. Dark.
SpeakerYou don't get a better shot of the jack. Look at it. See? This is a different one because this one is... I thought it was going to pour out of there.
BubblemanOh, shit, yeah, dude. That looks like sand.
SpeakerIt looks like sand, but I could put it right upside down and it doesn't move. It's like when you go to the beach and it's rock hard.
BubblemanAh, yes, it's sand. When you go to the beach and it's rock hard. Beautiful. But when you put it in the container...
SpeakerRight on the end where it's just like, like a 90 degree angle.
ToddIt was like sand when you put it in the container, though?
SpeakerOh, yeah, yeah.
SpeakerIn fact, if I play with it, it'll just go back to sand.
BubblemanActually, Mark, if you can tell, that shit wasn't even on the side of the container. That hash was actually trying to escape. That's how fucking greasy that hash is. It cannot be contained. Not even in a wax membrane.
ToddIt's got a life of its own.
SpeakerYep. So this atomic haze, and it's
SpeakerIt's sandy down at the bottom there. It still moves around. But for the most part, it's caked out.
BubblemanI'm thinking of that truck commercial. Like a rock.
SpeakerYeah, look at it. See, look at it. It's just like a sand dune.
BubblemanLittle Bobby Seeger. Maybe he was really singing about bubble hash. Probably not. But I know what kind of rocks he was singing about. Yeah.
SpeakerLook at this JT15. So the same thing that Cuban was talking about with making it go super dark, this JT15 goes ridiculously dark when we make water hash with it.
BubblemanJT15. Mr. Cookie says he's puffing flowers of that right now.
SpeakerNice, nice. Justin Trudeau, 2015.
BubblemanJustin Trudeau, hey?
SpeakerHopefully. Legal Cannabis 2015. How about that?
BubblemanI'm definitely, that's my vote.
SpeakerYeah, Watermelon Toke.
BubblemanLegal Cannabis. Rocking a D-Nail Wrap? What are you hitting?
SpeakerI'm going to hit my... Ah, your dab-a-doodle. My little cake.
BubblemanThe dab-a-doodle. Those are the little one-hitters that everyone that judged dab-a-doo got. Everyone got that nail in that little glass pipe, one little one-hitter. Pretty cool.
BubblemanMan, I'm really impressed that 550 people have stuck it out with us for the last four hours. I mean, my goodness, that's really, that's pretty cool. Thank you, everyone. I guess we've got seven minutes until 4.20 on the East Coast anyway, not here on the West Coast, so we'll gear up for a 4.20 rip and then I'm going to take us off the air. That'll be four hours and 20 minutes of goodness.
BubblemanFeel free to go back and listen. Feel free to share. Share the links. Let's get more people. We're going to have a logo created for next week. Some of you might have seen the first one that I posted on Facebook. It says HC with some trichomes in the background, kind of a stop sign symbol with rosin behind that and then a beautiful mountain scene kind of with like the blue river that Tony's new place talks about.
BubblemanIt's a really cool logo. Matthew Tanner, thank you so much for creating that logo for us and I'm going to send you the high res photos today so I can pass out that logo to all of you guys that are here and girls that are here in the panel and then of course to anyone that wants to promote Hash Church, it would be great to have that photo with the link to the next Hash Church, which I will put up on my YouTube page today after this Hash Church ends.
BubblemanWe've got six minutes until that 420 rip. Everyone, make sure you're ready for it. You've got time. Roll your dupes, pack your bowls, turn up your denails. We are about to blow smoke. Towards the Vatican, as Deacon Rob Clark always does on Sundays and has for the past 20 plus years. We know you're going to come back to us one of these days, Rob. We know you're going to come back.
BubblemanUntil then, please enjoy your fishing in New Zealand or Thailand or wherever it is you may be.
BubblemanWho knows where he is? He's fishing. I know that much.
BubblemanTony's back, pressing it up. Fishing with a PH? He is fishing with an actual fishing rod, guaranteed.
Etienne FontanYes, and making his own lures and everything. Oh yeah, he's hardcore, dude.
BubblemanWell, I mean, imagine, like, you know Rob, how much he geeks out on, like, hash and cannabis.
Etienne FontanI'd say fishing is right up there.
Speaker420. Ow, burned my hand. Don't burn yourself. Burned myself.
SpeakerI did this at Barcelona. I grabbed one of those baby cakes and it had the titanium nail on it. Yeah, that hurt. Don't do that.
Etienne FontanSeriously.
SpeakerYeah, totally. It was just like out of the corner of my eye I went over to grab it. Everyone sitting there even heard the sins.
BubblemanOh. I torched mine in Jamaica. I had that giant big yellow blowtorch to heat up the bucket on the mothership. At one point I leaned over it and just And that just disappeared about a day or two ago. It was like three plus weeks on my arm. The sound is the worst. The smell, from a vegetarian standpoint, it's like someone's burning steak.
SpeakerAgain, right, that goes into the theory that your cells have reacted faster than you have, really, right? That sort of, that wave reaction through that everybody, you know, because, you know, death is near.
BubblemanWell, you know, Patrick Flanagan had a theory. Patrick Flanagan, of course, was If you ever watched the TV show, The Doogie Howser, which Neil Patrick Harrison made his fame from, the young doctor. He was a brilliant guy and he was a doctor as a teenager or whatever. Well, that movie or TV show, I should say, is based on Patrick Flanagan. And Patrick Flanagan, he used to invent crazy shit.
BubblemanThe dude was definitely like highly intelligent and brilliant in his execution of his ideas. He had this theory that all of our senses are derived from our epidermis, our skin, and therefore he believed that all of the senses should and could be experienced through your skin. So the first thing he created was the neurophone, which allowed deaf people to hear, not through their ears, but actually through their skin.
BubblemanAnd the fucking thing worked. Of course, the military purchased, or not purchased, but took control of that patent, and every single patent he released after the Neurophone. But it goes to show that his theory was pretty sound. The Neurophone was allowing deaf people to hear through their skin, and imagine if you could actually experience your other senses through your skin. Interesting, to say the least.
SpeakerTotally. Totally. Follow your goosebumps. They'll never steer you wrong.
BubblemanThey never have, dude. I mean, come on. The hair standing up on my arms is like, that's the key right there.
SpeakerTotally. So to close some things out, you see the thickness of that? Yep. You see it looks like that? Yep. This is the 99% wash on the actual 25 bag after pressing out rosin. On the ethanol? Yep. So it's still bright yellow. I'm going to see what it tests like and maybe make some kind of vetable out of it.
BubblemanYou should do a bioassay and just take a giant rip of it once it's purged out any alcohol.
SpeakerYeah.
BubblemanI mean, you'd be surprised, dude. Your head, your ability to smoke and enjoy.
Etienne FontanOh, Tony.
BubblemanYeah, one more minute. That's it for today.
Speaker10-20.
BubblemanI got 119. Me too. And I'm running this chat, so... 119.
SpeakerMe too. 10-19. We got 531 viewers. Hopefully we'll get a few more.
BubblemanActually, hopefully 90 will just drop out or 110 will drop out and we'll go down to 420 viewers for 420. I'm totally joking. Do not leave the chat. Stay with us.
SpeakerDo it. Sacrifice yourself.
SpeakerWho's got the balls?
BubblemanWe just lost 100 viewers. Thanks, Matt. I'm just joking.
BubblemanAll right, 420 everybody.
SpeakerHappy birthday.
SpeakerSo Paul, all you guys were talking about, Roz, and I made him a background. What is this?
BubblemanWoo! That was so good. Hey, how's it going, Tony's friend? Hey, what's up, Baba Man? It's going, man. What a great Hash Church it's been today.
SpeakerHey, wonderful thing, man.
BubblemanFeels good. The vibes are good. The sharing is good. We're back on track with our technical difficulties. I felt good about today's Hash Church. I'm happy. Thank you, everyone, for being a part of it.
SpeakerGreat day. Great day, man. Now I've got to go water.
BubblemanBeautiful day. Yeah, I got to go hang out at the Westin Pool for an hour and then go pick my son up from ski school. But as always, everyone, thank you so much for being a part of things. Thanks, Jen, for coming in and bringing Anne and telling the story of your daughter. ATN, always a pleasure. Horatio. Mark Scaldone, Matt, who don't make it that often. Milo, super pleasure to have you in the room with us, buddy.
BubblemanAnd Tony, always a pleasure, dude. Thank you, everyone, for watching Hash Church. And we'll see you guys next week. Peace. See you.
